Insight of Silchar medical college

Likes

I like that its is quite a compact campus with each years subjects placed quite near to each other.
We have a good boys and girls ratio and in my class its almost 50\50.
I love the events and sports conducted by student and love that it relives stress that build up.

Dislikes

Boys hostel is too far from the classes and no transportation from college is given
Proper seperation of campus and hospital is not there which endangers studens privacy

Internships Opportunities:

There is a 1 year compulsory internship for the students who join the course and there is a stipend of 35000 . Through 1 year the students practice in the departments to acquire skills and knowledge. After that they are given jobs by the government under various rural hospitals.

Great college for MBBS in Assam

Likes

Teachers are very supportive. Most of them teach very well and if you ask them for help, anyone would love to help you. They're very enthusiastic.
Lecture theater hall. Our lecture theater is well equipped with air conditioners, smart board and speakers. You can definitely enjoy your class.
The events. Many events takes place during the year. Starting from college fests, national days, festives like diwali, holi etc. takes place here all over the year.

Dislikes

Campus security is a bit less here. It hampers the girl's life mostly during the night. Lack of CCTV and security guards.
Infrastructure of hospital. The hospital is very old and need remodeling. Instruments are old, walls are stained, fans in ward are not working.
The main road outside the hospital is very congested. Though it's not the fault of hospital, rather the whole town of silchar is like this, but govt. should take measures to fix this.

Everyone have to take compulsory Internship after completion of MBBS course. Internship takes place in our hospital only. They offer around Rs. 35000 monthly. It comes from Govt. being a government medical college.

SMCH in brief

Likes

Very huge number of patients come from all over Barak valley.
Faculty is very much experienced and can speak all languages.
Girl to Boy ratio is also good. It is around 1:1

Dislikes

The infrastructure is old since it is a very old college.
The college is very dirty because of lack of cleaning.
The hostels are not very well. They are average.

Internships Opportunities:

The internship occurs once you have passes 4th year. It is a 1 year inernship with stipend around Rs 35000. Many patients have to be treated so the exposure i very very good. However this makes it hectic too.

SMCH-The only medical College in Barak Valley .

Likes

Facilities: The teacher here are amazing and the campus is beautiful situated in the valley of Barak.

Dislikes

A few drawback of SMCH is it's location as the connectivity is poor with other parts of Assam.
The water facility in hostels are not tht good.

Every medical student should undergo internship and hence same happens with Smch too.every year the intern batch does internship for a period of 12 months with a stipend of 36k per month.They are posted in all the various departments of the hospital.

The faculties are very cooperative, teaching facilities are very good।

The hostels are also well maintained with affordable mess fees

Dislikes

Mess food can be made healthier and water scarcity sometimes
Rooms are small in hostel and very little space
Gate closing time is very early in hostel

Internships Opportunities:

The internship is of one year. It is provided in our college itself. The salary is only 32000. There is morning, evening, and night shifts. They get exposed to many patients with various illness and hence get to learn many things and improve their experience.

SMCH: My amazing college

Likes

I like the way to education it provides.
The sports and other things are also amazing
I like the faculty of the college along with the management

The way of eduction distribution can be made modern
Infrastructure can be made more beautifully
Teaching method can be digitalised along with management processes

Internship opportunity is quite available since it's a medical college Salary during internship is also highest in the whole country Patient influx of the college is also one of the highest in the whole country

Honest Review of SMCH

Likes

Teachers, are no doubt extraordinary talented.
Canteen is no doubt fabulous in every aspect
Appropriate freedom is enjoyed by the students

Dislikes

Food is not that good. Just eating to survive
Rooms are not that enough big as compared to space per person
Hostel timing is very early, as our class ends at 4pm.

Internships Opportunities:

No specific companies come to our college, as it it medical college. Patients come with their problems and stipend is bare minimal as compared to the duties doctors do. Government should look after the stipend amount.

Infrastrusture can be modified.New thing should be build.
Digitalisation of studies must be encouraged.

Internships Opportunities:

Intership is basically in college itself since its a medical college. Oppurtunites to lear is vast. The patient influx is very high.Pay scale at intership in assam is highest in the whole country. So financially it is good to go.

A short review on my college, SMC

Likes

I liked the freedom hostel Life offers. It is the most freedom you'll ever get in your life.
There are no restrictions as to when you can leave or enter the hostel.
You can order anything and it comes to your doorstep. It's full of leisure.

Dislikes

Food is not good in the mess. At first it was unbearable.
The route from hostel to the class is gruesome. It's unbearable in summer.
There are no canteens nearby that serve good food.

Internships Opportunities:

The internship comes after passing the final year exam. However, according to new rules, we may have to pass the Next exam as well. The stipend is around 30k per month. Since the cost of living is low, it is a good stipend.

Very decent government college

Likes

Campus is good with a very nice locality.
Silchar is very nice city where people are really helpful
Very old and reputed college and it maintains a very good academic result

Dislikes

Hostel quality not very good, it could be better
In mess breakfast or snacks are not provided
Being at the edge of the city it is very far from heart of the city

Internships Opportunities:

One year mandatory internship is there where you get to paid nearly 40k and also you get to learn many useful things which hone your skills. There are abundant patient flow which is great for practising.
