Saveetha MS (Anatomy) FAQs
Ques. What is MS (Anatomy) and why would an MBBS graduate choose this over a clinical PG specialisation?
Ans. MS (Anatomy) is a 3-year postgraduate degree in the basic medical science of Anatomy. It is primarily chosen by MBBS graduates who wish to pursue a career in medical education as anatomy faculty, or those interested in anatomical research, surgical anatomy, or clinical anatomy. It is also chosen by candidates who could not secure a clinical PG seat and wish to remain in the medical academic field. The very low fee (Rs. 50,000/year) makes it financially accessible.
Ques. What career options are available after completing MS Anatomy from Saveetha Medical College?
Ans. Graduates of MS Anatomy are eligible to apply for faculty positions (Tutor/Demonstrator/Assistant Professor) in the Anatomy department of NMC-recognised medical and dental colleges across India. They can also pursue PhD in Anatomy or related fields, work in anatomical research institutions, contribute to surgical anatomy research, or work in medical illustration and digital anatomy. Some graduates also pursue clinical PG programmes subsequently.
Ques. How many seats are available in MS Anatomy at Saveetha Medical College, and is it easy to get admission?
Ans. There are only 2 seats in MS Anatomy at Saveetha Medical College, all under the management quota, filled through MCC centralised counselling. While the seat count is very low, MS Anatomy is generally less competitive than clinical specialisations as fewer candidates opt for it. Candidates with a moderate NEET PG rank who are specifically interested in academic careers may find it accessible.
Ques. What is the total fee for MS Anatomy at Saveetha Medical College?
Ans. The total course fee is Rs. 2,00,000 (Rs. 50,000 per year x 3 years + Rs. 50,000 one-time admission fee). This is one of the most affordable postgraduate medical programmes at SIMATS and among the lowest-fee MS programmes in private deemed universities in India.
Ques. Is there a stipend for MS Anatomy residents at Saveetha Medical College?
Ans. The official fee structure and admission guidelines for Saveetha Medical College do not specifically mention a stipend for MS Anatomy residents, unlike clinical specialisations. Candidates are advised to confirm stipend details directly with the admissions office at the time of joining. Contact: admission.medical@saveetha.com or +91 04466726623.
Ques. What is the refund policy if I withdraw from the MS Anatomy programme after joining?
Ans. If you withdraw during the MCC counselling period (before Round 3, when the seat can be surrendered to DGHS), the total fees paid minus Rs. 75,000 will be refunded within 14 bank working days. However, if you withdraw after the counselling period or once the seat cannot be surrendered to DGHS, there is no refund, and you will be required to pay the entire 3-year course fee of Rs. 1,50,000.
