Kasturba Medical College, Manipal

Likes

The college has been consistently ranked under top10 medical college for many decades.
The faculties and infrastructure is really top notch.
The hospital is very good in handling all the patients properly and systematically.

Dislikes

The course fee is too high for a middle class student.
The class is filled with rich students so if you have less money you can feel inferior.
The rankings which the college claims sometimes sound gimmicky.

Admission:

I applied for government colleges and KMC I the first counselling round of NEET. My rank was 21k which was on the border for government colleges. I got a seat in KMC. To hold the seat we went to Manipal. My father was impressed by the college. He got me admission there. I couldn't get any government seat since my rank was not good enough. For admissions:- Exam:- NEET Cut off:- 550+. NEET(2021)

KMC Manipal- The only good choice for MBBS

Likes

The options for materials to study including the library
MAP museum gives a dynamic view of different diseases for the human body which helps a lot in our course
The labs for our course are well maintained and the campus is beautiful

Dislikes

The fees is a lot for normal people to pay
The food of mess is not up to the taste liking of everyone
The autos around the campus charge a lot for a very short distance

Admission:

I did not apply for other colleges as i already knew this was the best college to go for according to my marks in terms of study and experience. Did not get rejected from other colleges as i didn't apply for them. The admission process is very smooth. Just need to come here during the time of registration and the process takes hardly 30 min to be completed. Then a complete campus tour is given to the parents which is very helpful. Only students who have give NEET-UG exam are eligible to get admission in this college with average cutoff of 560-630 marks depending on the year

Why you should choose KMC manipal

Likes

The teachers care about teaching and are encouraging of all pursuits.
The extracurricular activities and clubs are numerous in number
Research facilities are available at a large scale

Dislikes

The fees is a heavy burden to bear, and not possible for most families.

Admission:

NEET exam was the selection process, 2023 cut off for first round went upto 50,000 rank but decreased exponteirally in second and third allotment. Admission process and document procedure is conducted very well and requires you to be in Manipal for it

Dislikes

Sometimes things can be very strict and overburdening
The timelines are strict and not very lenient

You have to get merit in NEET-UG exam Everything is centralized under AIQ(All india Quota) NEET-UG is a national level exam CBSE and AIIMS should again take over functioning of NEET for more smooth and good paper level

A to Z about my college

Likes

College environment is literally excellent, we get alot of exposure in studies as well as in extra curricular activities.
Practical labs and classrooms are marvelous with world class infrastructure. Each student can perform their experiments individually. In laboratories every student get their individual microscope for slide viewing.
Campus is also pollution free, there is a lot of greenery in the campus. Health friendly campus . No overcrowding of students as well as localities in the campus. It's an open campus that is really good.

Dislikes

Things to be disliked is not that much. Mess is okay type. U can sustain with that mess food it's not that bad
Weather is not constant, it's rainy season for approx 4 months.

Admission:

Its in the top 5 medical colleges of the country. Best college Based on Rank. General quota. Modern technology. Lots of stuff to learn. This is recognised by the General Medical Council of Great Britain and the Malaysian Medical Council.

There are a few common differences between KMC Mangalore and KMC Manipal

KMC Manipal offers an amazing campus life because it’s a student hub where a lot of students from different colleges of MAHE study.
It has Asia's largest library, consisting of 4–to 5 floors with a separate research section as well.
Mangalore campus has better clinical exposure because it has many hospitals, three of which are government.
Manipal has an amazing campus with more advanced microscopes and lab equipment.
You have easy access to everything in Manipal be it your college, your labs, or your hospital.
Connectivity is easier in Mangalore. All you need to do is to take a 2-hour long cab ride from Mangalore.
All the major fests like Utsav happen in Manipal.
There is a separate campus for the first years.

AIQ for the Manipal campus is always higher than the Mangalore campus. KMC Manipal AIQ cutoff for the general category is 72304.
