At the very first day of admission, I just loved the well done infrastructure of the college. The lecture theatres are very nice with projectors installed. There is a badminton court made outdoors for the students to play.
The teachers are very hard working. They put efforts in teaching. For first year in anatomy department there ia a cadaver room.
The best thing is you get paid the most in internship when compared to other medical colleges in bihar i.e ₹30,000 per month.

Dislikes

The patient load is very high which is a good thing . But difficulty arises to accomplish them and their relatives.
Patients sleep over the streets in college which disturbs our privacy in college.
There should be more encouragement towards co-curricular activities.

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

The teaching methods of faculties provides practical sessions with the patients more often from 2nd year onwards to have batter real world experiences. There are maximum 2 semesters per year and a final exam which makes the exam pattern good.

Campus internship opportunities and projects

After fourth year, we get into internship where we see the patients on a daily basis along with the professors and doctors helping you out. The monthly stipend that you get for this is the max i.e Rs.30,000/- . You have morning and night shifts for this.

What are the placement opportunities in the college?

After the final professional exam of fourth year students ,IGIMS provides paid internship to students of Rs.30,000 per month for a year. After this either you can prepare for neet pg or can apply for JRship or SRship in IGIMS which pays you upto Rs.1,00,000 per month. After neet pg, IGIMS provides seats of every branch and placement opportunities are also good.

Yearly fees structure of the course and scholarship

For MBBS students in IGIMS, 1st year fees for unreserved students are Rs.1,21,000/- and for reserved is Rs.1,11,000/- . In consecutive years the fees decreases to Rs.70,000/- for both unreserved and reserved students. Registration fees during professional exams is Rs.4000/- every year. The library, sports, auditorium,cultural facilities are all included in the fees. Hostel fees is Rs.20,000 yearly. There are certain scholarships for the category students like post matric scholarship and National Scholarship portal. The infrastructure is top notch in every aspect and stands one of the most impressive institutions. Hospital, OPD,Ward all are inside the campus itself and provides every facilities for knowledge of the students.

Students views about the campus life

About the social interactions in IGIMS, this is the best college you can have. We have the biggest fest CEREBREXIA every year which involves big celebraties like Armaan Malik. We have other main events like Saraswati puja, freshers party, dandiya night etc. Interaction between seniors and juniors are very good.

On-campus living facilities

IGIMS does not provide hostel rooms immediately after admission due to occupied seats. We get rooms after 5-6 months. For girls:- you get double room in first year and then single room from second year. Third year girls get bigger single rooms along with well furnished tables and almirahs. For boys:- you get double rooms from first year till fourth year. In internship you get bigger single rooms. Mess facility is inside the hostel.

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

The faculties here are very nice and very well sooken . Some HODs are a bit rude and strict may be due their high load of work. Prof. Dr. Gyan Bhaskar sir ophtha dept is very cool and chill. I genuinely like his behaviour toward students. Prof. Dr. Deepali prasad mam gynae dept is very confident and is of high personality. There are good amounts of faculties over students.

Why student choose this college?

I applied for PMCH , NMCH , AIIMS and IGIMS . Initially i got approval from NMCH but it's infrastructure was not at all good according to me . There was only one building and the hospitals and opds were outside the campus half hour away. So i applied for promotion of college and I was approved from IGIMS . I genuinely say everything was top notch in IGIMS from infrastructure to faculties.

Igims being govt medical college is associated with nmc terms and guidelines. It follows all the prospectus of nmc like all other colleges. For coming into the mbbs , first you need to clear neet . From All india counseling i get AIIMS deoghar but then result of state counseling came and i had been allotted IGIMS patna I choose IGIMS patna over AIIMS deoghar because IGIMS is well established hospital of bihar and have very good infrastructure and facilities are also experienced At that time AIIMS deoghar was not that established and infrastructure is not built at that time and because of new college i prefer IGIMS patna which is old college of bihar with lots of patients load You can get addmission in IGIMS from Neet UG cutoff in AIQ is around 5000 rank

Best in infrastructure similar to AIIMS standerd( Eg, 4 Lecture theatre all have wifi and smart boards , well cushioned chairs for sitting , Library has centralised ac and wifi it remains open 24?7 so no restriction of timing.
Have its own playground for cricket and football court for badminton, vollyball, common room for Table tennis ( 6 boards in total) and gym equipments like treadmill, bechpress, cross trainer etc

I got 6900 rank in neet UG and I had to stay in patna because my home is just 30 min from here so for AIIMS another exam were conducted in 2019 and I got 4200 rank in that but I fell too short for getting in AIIMS patna and apart from that in patna igims Is best in academics and patients treatment and overall non toxic environment. Admission in my college is done in two ways 1st is through allotment in all india quota (15% seats get filled)and 2nd through state quota (85% seats get filled).

Admission:

Eligibility if admission is students must have passed 12th with PCB and have good marks in NEET exam of that particular year. They can find admission firm in official websites of IGIMS in the month of September. They will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in NEET exam. After councling he ll be allocated different department on the basis of marks he obtained.

The professors there are top-notch compared to other colleges in the region. Plus, PMCH is undergoing renovations, with new hostels and buildings coming up, so infrastructure issues will soon be resolved. Here's a snapshot from my hostel to show some of the ongoing work.

I believe going for IGIMS Patna is a mixed bag. On one hand, the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course has a good faculty-to-student ratio and a solid curriculum with plenty of practical exposure. The faculty here is pretty supportive and knowledgeable.

However, the fact that IGIMS is not recognized by the World Directory of Medical Schools could be a significant downside for anyone planning to prepare for the USMLE. It might limit your opportunities and recognition outside India, which is something you need to consider seriously.

I think both colleges have their pros and cons, but I personally prefer IGIMS for the MBBS course. The campus is spacious, and we have access to a good library and various sports facilities. I have to say, the opinions of the newly joined students and seniors at PMCH are quite valid. PMCH, once called Prince of Wales Medical College, was among Asia's top colleges in the 1950s. However, let's talk about IGIMS. It’s recognized as an "institute of excellence" by Bihar and is the first in the East zone to handle the growing number of patients from Bihar and neighboring states.

As my colleagues pointed out, IGIMS is an autonomous institution, similar to AIIMS and IIT, meaning it makes decisions independently without much interference from outside authorities. It's the only tertiary care hospital in Bihar and boasts one of the largest campuses in India, with beautiful landscaping and clean, green surroundings.

The college's recognition has never been revoked, and students from the 2011 batch are currently doing their internships. IGIMS follows the administrative frameworks of AIIMS New Delhi and JIPMER Pondicherry, with a strong team of officers and staff to manage college and hospital issues.

All departments are well-equipped, with some reaching international standards, like the ENT department. Students get ample exposure through regular CME events, workshops, and conferences. Interestingly, IGIMS was the third college in India, after Bangalore and Kolkata, to host the international KARMIC UG conference, attracting students nationwide.

The college has advanced departments and well-functioning equipment for MBBS practicals, supported by experienced faculty and staff. Doctors receive a Non-Practice Allowance, ensuring their presence on campus rather than engaging in private practice. Interns here enjoy some of the highest stipends in India, which is quite appealing.
