Have you ever come across a semi-government medical college with fees around 20k per semester? I think the slightly higher fees might be causing some confusion. But trust me, government medical colleges outside Bihar charge about the same and still offer facilities like PMCH or DMCH. That's where you see the difference, and you might feel that if you're paying that much, it's alright. IGIMS is a fully government college, and you can check their website for more info. I haven't seen anything like semi-government; it's better if you check it out yourself.

IGIMS Patna is a government medical college. I got admission into the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course after clearing the NEET exam, which is a requirement for government medical colleges. The college follows the guidelines set by the National Medical Commission (NMC), making it clear that it's a government institution.

The fee structure, although a bit high compared to some other government colleges, also aligns with government medical college standards.

From my experience in the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, IGIMS Patna is definitely a government medical college. The admission process is through NEET, and the college is recognized by the government, which means it adheres to the norms set by the National Medical Commission. I appreciate that it has a good infrastructure and offers a solid curriculum, which is typical of a government institution.

IGIMS Patna is a fully government-run medical college with autonomous status. People sometimes call it semi-government because it receives funding from three sources: the central government, the state government, and its own management, similar to AIIMS. It was set up by an act of Parliament, just like AIIMS, and is a highly valued institution with both central and state support.

Being a student at IGIMS has its perks. It's often compared to AIIMS, making it a top choice for medical education in Bihar. Here are some highlights:

  • The infrastructure is top-notch, with well-equipped labs and a good teacher-to-student ratio.
  • Some departments, like Biochemistry and Microbiology, are particularly outstanding. The faculty here are not only experts but also very committed to teaching. These are the non-clinical subjects.
  • Clinical departments and facilities are among the best in Bihar.
  • Lectures and exams are well-organized, and schedules are strictly followed.
  • The college offers a wide range of super-specialty courses and is the only one in Bihar and Jharkhand with such a variety in almost all departments.

Hope this helps!

IGIMS Patna is a government medical college, and I can say this with confidence because I got into the MBBS course through the NEET exam. The college's fees are higher compared to other government colleges, but this is common in many government medical institutions. It also follows the government guidelines and offers a degree that allows us to practice as doctors in both government and private sectors.
