Ans. A friend of mine who studies at Jain University says the faculty is decent but if you are mainly looking for placements, there is no guarantee. There are quite a few IT jobs available but since Bangalore is the Silicon City of the country, you will probably not get placements in core areas. From what information was shared with me, the hostel fees and tuition fees are also quite high. Plus, admission to the university is also given directly by filling up the application form or you can even give the COMEDK, KCET exam or contact the college directly. Infrastructure-wise, the college is definitely good with five-star facilities in your hostel rooms and Bangalore city to explore. But, you have to pay for almost everything. You will see a diverse crowd in the college including a few Africans too. However, you will probably not be able to gain industry-relevant skills that might help boost your career. Ans. The full-time 4 year BTech in Aerospace Engineering degree program at Jain University has a Grade ‘A’ NAAC accreditation and has been ranked at 117 by NIRF in 2020. The course is conducted under the scope of IIAEM. Course Structure : The curriculum is well-designed and spread across 8 semesters offering a good balance of theory and practical subjects. The last two semesters also require students to submit a practical project. Faculty : Most of the faculties are alumni members from IIT’S, NAL, ISRO, and ADA. The faculty are also known to help students with internships, and placements through their industry contacts. Infrastructure : For the aerospace department, the university offers multiple practical laboratories, experimental facilities- like the subsonic wind tunnel facility and research collaborations. Admissions : To be eligible for admissions students are required to qualify and clear the Jain Entrance Test (JET) conducted by the institution. The selection process is based on the ranking. Apart from that, students must also have a minimum score of 60% in 10+2. Placements : Aerospace engineering is still a developing field in India because of which there are very few companies that hire students directly from campuses. Ans. I am here to give you a very honest opinion based on my brother's experience at Chandigarh University. The university does everything but imparts good quality education and is more like a money-making machine. The points below will clarify my point further  The faculty pool comprises ignorant professors who are just Master graduates from CU itself. All their lectures are copy paste material and the classes are extremely monotonous with no dynamic or practical approach at all. These professors have no area of expertise and teach different subjects in different semesters There are illogical restrictions and very tight schedules. You don’t get to roam even after classes are over and if you don’t reach the block by 9 30 am, you will find it closed. The syllabus is exhaustive and chaotic comprising so many irrelevant theoretical subjects making students rote learners with minimal understanding of concepts No additional skills like coding, data analysis, and programming are taught. Everything is taught with a theoretical approach with no hands on experience. A huge number of assignments and projects are assigned meant to be completed within a week leaving no time for additional activities or studies. There are attendance policies requiring you to maintain 75% attendance with strict reprimands like debarring The college is not exactly located in Chandigarh but in the outskirts in a village area with no transport facilities. The hostel and mess facilities are appalling No doubt, the college has a lot of companies coming for placements but the scenario for that isn’t very different. So, I will recommend you to go for any other engineering college after proper research.Read more

Ques. Which college is better Chandigarh University or CGC Landran for engineering in CSE?

Ans. CGC Landran is an older college with a better reputation than Chandigarh University simply because more people are aware of it. Whereas Chandigarh University is a newer institution with the same owner. However, there are some significant differences between CGC Landran and Chandigarh University - CGC Landran is a college affiliated with another university. This means that your DMCs, degree and other formalities will take some time. Whereas Chandigarh University is a deemed university, you can get all of these documents quickly. Because Chandigarh University is a university, they have the freedom to change its syllabus and rotate its subjects in response to industry demands, which CGC Landran does not have. Placements at CGC Landran and Chandigarh University are all the same because they all take place at the same time. Chandigarh University has a growing campus with 1 or 2 buildings being built every 6 months, whereas CGC Landran is a fully constructed campus. CU is also very developed now, with over 15 food joints and cafeterias, which is fantastic. You can decide for yourself by visiting both campuses. Teachers at CU are much better than teachers at CGC Landran because they are paid more. Because a university pays its teachers more than a college. And it goes without saying that the more you pay, the more you get. CGC is the location. Landran is in a small city near Chandigarh, and buses to Rajpura, Patiala, Sirhind, and Kharar are not readily available due to the longer time intervals between them. CU, on the other hand, is directly on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana national highway, with a bus leaving every 10 minutes for either Chandigarh or Ludhiana. For Patiala students, CU is closer to Patiala than CGC, even though CGC is closer in distance. Overall, they are similar institutions, but the distinction between a college and a university cannot be overlooked. If you can, go for CGC; if you can't, CU is the better option.Read more

Ans. Regarding infrastructure and facilities, Chandigarh University's average cannot be compared with LPU, SRM, or any other big university. However, in terms of placements, CGC brings great happiness. The placement opportunities at CGC are pretty good, especially for software engineering. Many reputed companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Dell, IBM, Infosys, Cognizant, etc., visit the campus for recruitment. CGC is growing very fast and is becoming the number-one university in the northern region for software engineering. However, the number of students per stream is around 1400, which is quite a large number, making competition challenging. The teachers in the first year may need improvement, but after you go to your core branch in the second year, the staff is well experienced and quite good. CGC conducts various competitive fests and workshops. Additionally, they provide international internships with foreign universities in the USA, Canada, and more. CGC has also started the TPP program, which teaches students aptitude, C, C++, and communication skills, preparing them for technical interviews during placements. Overall, CGC is a good college, but attendance is a major issue. A minimum of 75% attendance is compulsory to give the examination. Even if you get 74.4% , you will not be able to give your final exams. In case, you're thinking of doing B. Tech from Chandigarh, you should first give preference to Thapar, CCET, and PEC.Read more
