Acadia University offers 15+ scholarships, of which 8 are accessible to Indian applicants. This Wolfville-based liberal arts school in Nova Scotia disburses close to CAD 8 million in aid each year. Indian students receive automatic entrance consideration when they apply for admission.

  • Standard UG tuition: CAD 14,920 to CAD 19,196 per year (INR 10.22 to 13.16 Lakhs)
  • With Initial Entrance Scholarship: CAD 12,920 to CAD 17,196 in year one (INR 8.85 to 11.78 Lakhs)
  • With Chancellor’s Scholarship stack: CAD 4,920 to CAD 9,196 net year one (INR 3.37 to 6.30 Lakhs)
  • Next scholarship deadline: Tentative March 1, 2027 for Fall 2027 (annual cycle)

Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 CAD = INR 68.53 as of August 2026. Scholar-Bursary awards combine merit and financial need, while pure merit awards do not require need documentation.

Acadia University Scholarships for UG Students

Every Indian applicant to an Acadia undergraduate program is auto-considered for the Initial Entrance Scholarship. Renewable high-value awards need a separate Status Portal form and a 95%+ scholarship average.

ScholarshipAmount (CAD / INR)EligibilityDeadline (2026-27)
Initial Entrance ScholarshipCAD 2,000 to 10,000 total (INR 1.37 to 6.85 Lakhs)Auto-consideration on admission; 80% minimumAuto with admission
Chancellor’s ScholarshipCAD 10,000/year, CAD 40,000 total (INR 27.41 Lakhs)95%+ scholarship average; renewable four yearsTentative March 1, 2027
Board of Governors’ ScholarshipCAD 8,000/year, CAD 32,000 total (INR 21.93 Lakhs)95%+ scholarship average; renewableTentative March 1, 2027
President’s ScholarshipCAD 7,000/year, CAD 28,000 total (INR 19.19 Lakhs)95%+ scholarship average; renewableTentative March 1, 2027
General Scholar-BursaryUp to CAD 80,000 over 4 years (INR 54.82 Lakhs)80%+ average; documented financial needTentative March 1, 2027
Arthur L. Irving Family FoundationCAD 20,000/year (INR 13.71 Lakhs)Environmental, Biology, Business, Engineering streamsTentative March 31, 2027

The three renewable awards stack on top of the Initial Entrance grant. A CBSE Class XII student with a 95%+ scholarship average can pair the Chancellor’s award with the automatic entry grant. That combination totals INR 34.26 Lakhs across four years.

Individual majors also carry program-specific donor awards, listed inside the Acadia University programs directory. The Arthur L. Irving grant caps at CAD 20,000 yearly and rewards environmental focus.

Documents required for the March 1, 2027 Status Portal submission:

  • Class XI and Class XII predicted transcripts (CBSE, ICSE, or state board)
  • 500-word financial-need statement for any Scholar-Bursary consideration
  • Two academic reference emails sent directly by the referees
  • IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) English proficiency proof

Acadia University Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students

Direct Master’s funding at Acadia flows through departmental Teaching or Research Assistantships and program-specific bursaries. Award value depends on faculty budgets and supervisor grants, not a fixed university-wide table.

ScholarshipAmount (CAD / INR)EligibilityDeadline (2026-27)
Graduate Teaching AssistantshipVaries by department; typical CAD 5,000 to 10,000/year (INR 3.43 to 6.85 Lakhs)Full-time thesis Master’s; departmental nominationWith program application
Graduate Research AssistantshipVaries with grant; typical CAD 8,000 to 15,000/year (INR 5.48 to 10.28 Lakhs)Supervisor-funded; tied to active research grantRolling; contact supervisor
Departmental Entrance BursaryCAD 2,000 to 6,000 (INR 1.37 to 4.11 Lakhs)Merit and need; department discretionWith program application
McCall MacBain Scholarship (external)Full tuition + CAD 2,200/month stipend at McGillAcadia UG alumni pursuing McGill Master’sTentative August 26, 2026 (Round 1)
Gates-Cambridge Scholarship (external)Full funding at CambridgeAcadia alumni; PhD or one-year Master’s at CambridgeTentative October 15, 2026 (Round 1)

Reddit Insight: Indian Master’s applicants report that the fastest funding path is emailing the supervisor with a research proposal draft before the formal application. Research Assistantships hinge on grant availability, not the admissions committee.

Acadia also lists further external post-doctoral routes through its Graduate Studies office. The AGE-WELL Graduate Student Awards and CFUW Fellowships remain open to Master’s-to-PhD pathway candidates.

India-Specific Scholarships at Acadia University

Acadia does not run a bilateral India scholarship. Three merit awards, however, admit Indian passport holders on equal terms and use essay or portfolio review rather than domicile filters.

ScholarshipAmount (CAD / INR)Eligibility for IndiansDeadline (2026-27)
Raymond E. Ivany Merit AwardCAD 5,000 (INR 3.43 Lakhs)Any program; 500-word essay to financial.aid@acadiau.caTentative March 1, 2027
International Baccalaureate ScholarshipCAD 6,000 one-time (INR 4.11 Lakhs)Confirmed IB Diploma with 32+ pointsAuto with admission
Acadia Globalization AwardCAD 2,500 to 5,000 (INR 1.71 to 3.43 Lakhs)Indian passport holders completing Grade 12 at a Canadian high schoolTentative March 1, 2027
Innovasea Business AwardCAD 2,500 (INR 1.71 Lakhs)Business Administration major; extracurricular recordTentative March 1, 2027

The Ivany award is the only Acadia-run grant that explicitly names international applicants as eligible via a competitive essay. Candidates email a 500-word statement covering academic goals and financial context.

An Indian IB Diploma holder with a Class XII score of 32 IB points can stack the CAD 6,000 IB Scholarship on top of the Initial Entrance grant. That pushes first-year support to INR 10.96 Lakhs before any renewable-award decision.

Acadia University PhD Scholarships

Acadia is primarily an undergraduate and Master’s institution with a small doctoral cohort. PhD candidates typically join collaborative programs through partner Nova Scotia universities, and funding flows from external federal awards.

ScholarshipAmount (CAD / INR)EligibilityDeadline (2026-27)
Trudeau Foundation Doctoral ScholarshipCAD 40,000/year for 3 years (INR 27.41 Lakhs/year)Doctoral candidate in humanities or social sciencesTentative November 25, 2026

IDRC International Doctoral Research AwardUp to CAD 20,000 (INR 13.71 Lakhs)Development-focused field research in low-income countriesTentative April 24, 2027
Kappa Kappa Gamma PhD AwardCAD 3,000 to 6,000 (INR 2.05 to 4.11 Lakhs)Women PhD candidates at Canadian institutionsTentative February 1, 2027

Indian PhD hopefuls typically pair a supervisor-funded Research Assistantship (CAD 15,000 to 20,000 yearly) with the Trudeau Foundation doctoral grant. This stack can cover living expenses in the Annapolis Valley without touching a personal tuition budget.

External Government Scholarships for Acadia University Students

Indian students at Acadia qualify for four federal or state-backed awards. Application windows sit outside Acadia’s own portal and require separate documentation.

ScholarshipAmount (CAD / INR)LevelDeadline (2026-27)
Canada Graduate Research Scholarship (Doctoral)CAD 40,000/year for 3 years (INR 27.41 Lakhs/year)PhDTentative November 4, 2026
MacKenzie King Open ScholarshipCAD 12,500 (INR 8.57 Lakhs)Master’s or PhDTentative February 1, 2027
Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarship (India)Up to USD 100,000 (INR 82.16 Lakhs total)Master’s, MFA, PhDTentative March 26, 2027
KC Mahindra Scholarship (India)Up to INR 10 LakhsMaster’s, PhDTentative March 31, 2027

Reddit Insight: CGRS-Doctoral applicants report that Acadia’s nomination quota sits below Canada’s U15 research schools like Toronto and McGill. Indian candidates often align their file with a department holding an open federal Tri-Council (CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC) slot before contacting Graduate Studies.

Indian-run scholarships help fill the gap left by Acadia’s modest graduate purse. Inlaks and KC Mahindra together can cover roughly INR 92 Lakhs if a student wins both, though they are rarely awarded in tandem.

Acadia University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. What is the maximum scholarship stack an Indian student can win at Acadia University?

Ans. An Indian applicant with a 95%+ scholarship average combines the Chancellor’s Scholarship (INR 27.41 Lakhs) with the Initial Entrance grant (INR 6.85 Lakhs). If the same student holds an IB Diploma with 32 points, the CAD 6,000 IB grant adds INR 4.11 Lakhs. Peak realistic stack: roughly INR 38.37 Lakhs across four years.

Ques. When should Indian students apply to hit the Acadia University scholarship deadline?

Ans. File the undergraduate admission application by mid-January to open the Status Portal. The renewable-award scholarship form falls due tentatively March 1, 2027 for the September 2027 intake. Decisions arrive in rolling waves between April and June, so early submission is safer.

Ques. Do Indian applicants need to submit a separate scholarship form?

Ans. The Initial Entrance Scholarship is automatic and needs no extra paperwork. The Chancellor’s, Board of Governors’, President’s, and Scholar-Bursary awards each require the Status Portal scholarship form. The Raymond E. Ivany Merit Award needs a separate 500-word essay emailed to financial.aid@acadiau.ca.

Ques. What academic threshold do Indian students need for renewable Acadia University scholarships?

Ans. The Chancellor’s, Board of Governors’, and President’s awards require a 95%+ scholarship average from the Class XII marksheet. Scholar-Bursaries drop the bar to 80% but layer in a financial-need essay. Renewal after year one hinges on maintaining a 3.50 GPA at Acadia.

Ques. Does the Acadia University scholarship stack cover Wolfville living costs?

Ans. Wolfville residence and food total roughly CAD 10,000 per year, or INR 6.85 Lakhs. A CAD 10,000 Chancellor’s award covers residence alone. Layering the CAD 5,000 Ivany Award or CAD 6,000 IB grant on top leaves food and health insurance as the only unfunded costs.

Ques. Can PhD students at Acadia University access external Canadian government funding?

Ans. Yes. PhD candidates at Acadia can be nominated for the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship (Doctoral) at CAD 40,000 per year (INR 27.41 Lakhs annually). The Trudeau Foundation Doctoral award and IDRC International Doctoral Research Awards add further routes for humanities and international-development scholars.

  • For the first time going from India, since I did not know anyone, and due to the rising scams related to housing, I chose to rent a room from a trusted website called Habyt. The room was expensive; however, there was no chance of any scam.
  • Habyt room was 950 euros per month (4 months) in Munich, then I shifted to Freising, where I rented a room for 600 euros per month (for a year) and then I had to shift to another room in Freising area, where I currently live (430 euros per month for ~1 year)

Scholarship

  • Yes I received a Graduate Scholarship, eligibility is to have and maintain good grades in your undergrad and when doing a master's. It's based on the university's funding availability.
  • 1000 CAD + 2500 CAD as a Teaching Assistant every term
  • Yes, they did. The graduate course is generally funded because it is research-based.
  • I am not sure about the scholarship for other students.

  • For my first year I stayed on campus at Crowell Tower (would not recommend), very expensive. Applied on the university residence website. Moved to off campus now.
  • 700, everything included (heat, water, utilities etc)
  • Finding off campus accommodation is difficult because Wolfville is a small town and high demand from students for off campus.
  • DO NOT CONSIDER ON CAMPUS. Only as a last option. Its extremely expensive (food mainly) and the food tastes pathetic.

Scholarship

I have applied for a scholarship. I currently have one of 16,000 that I got the first year. The application process was pretty extensive due to the amount of money they were giving and I just recently applied for another smaller one that had a similar process of application which is weird because it's only 2,000 max. I needed multiples references and an essay mainly.

The campus and class sizes were very small which I liked because I came from a small town originally. The nutrition program was also very good because the teacher and community were very involved in it.
