Academic Qualification

  • A four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized institution, with a minimum B (73-76 percent) in the final year.
  • Three-year degree with significant relevant work experience may be considered.

Academic Background

Minimum of four full social science courses and a half-credit course in research methodology.

  • Evidence of paid and/or voluntary experience in human service organizations.
  • Awareness of contemporary social issues and social work values.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Motivation for a career as a professional social worker.

GPA Calculation

Additional courses after the bachelor's degree will count towards the final year GPA, which must be a B average (73-76 percent) for admission consideration.

  • Maximum Courses: Up to two half-credit core courses for MSW Regular Track; one for Advanced Standing.
  • Eligibility: Similar graduate-level courses completed in the last 5 years with a minimum grade of B.
  • Application Requirement: Requests must be submitted before admission with all documentation.
  • Syllabus Requirement: Full course syllabus required; non-English documents need a translated version.
  • Approval Process: Recommendations by Associate Dean, MSW Programs; approved by AVP/Dean of Graduate Studies.
