  • Canadian batchmates secure positions relatively more easily than non-Canadians. However, if your CV is extraordinary and you’ve outdone the rest of your batchmates, you’re all set to bag that 1 single job left in the market.
  • Average salary to expect would be 80-150K per year
  • Doing an internship is always the best way to bag a job. If that’s not an option, maintain good connections with alumni and get involved in career development clubs in your department.

  • Via facebook marketplace, Kijiji, UofT off campus housing facebook page
  • My current monthly rent is still the covid rent, which is ~750 CAD. This includes heating, water, internet, a washer and dryer, and furniture.
  • Since I live in downtown, the number of students looking for rentals is quite a lot. Therefore, it can get pretty competitive
  • I would say, off campus housing options are much cheaper and viable options for you
  • My current place is a 7-minute walk from campus

  • Please refer to Rotman site for statistics; I do not have insights on that. Also, the TA/RA opportunities are only available once the students have completed their first year. If they have scored well on the subject in first year, they have a good chance of getting selected as a TA in the second year

  • The university housing option is available; I went for private apartments. You need to hire a realtor (free of charge for tenants) to view the apartments and eventually rent one.
  • Monthly accommodation for 1BHK is $2000-$3000. The house owners are choosy about approving your application for renting the apartments.
  • Recommendations for future students seeking accommodation: Apply for university housing well in advance. Most students stay within a range of 2–5 km.

  • Around 90% of University of Toronto graduates secure a job within months. Average salary ranges from 50000-250000 dollars per year. Students find jobs through on and off-campus placement drives. The Highest and lowest salary varies from course to course.

  • The online search method is the way I find my accommodations. From searching online, I found many other options as well, which was the only challenge I faced while using this search method. Other than that, everything is okay.

  • A major chunk of people got jobs within 6 months. Can't comment about the official number as the official numbers aren't out yet. Same goes in case of salary but the previous year average was around 85000 CAD.
  • There is no placement as such and people need to network and look for jobs on their own. The career services team assists in conducting mock interviews but the major part of looking for jobs is to be done by students on their own, i.e., networking and connecting with the right people to get a referral.
  • Rotman graduates are present everywhere, including firms like meta, intuit, uber, Google, etc.

  • There are various ways to search accommodations:
    • Fb page: there are different pages where people sublet a room or look a long term roommate.
    • Amberstudent/Universityliving etc third oart vendors
    • Graduate housing - offered by the University
    • Local connections, property owners.
    • Property managers - managed flats
    • Realtors - available to show housings as a broker without any extra payment.

  • The hardest part was to find something in the desired range, as everything looked a bit costly given you are new to a country and it's hard to find a place before reaching the country if you haven't used any third-party vendors.
  • It's great to get third-party vendors if the price suffices.
  • It varies from a 15-minute walk to 30 minutes via metro. Indian students preferred places near the metro line or walking distance to the university to avoid unnecessary time wastage during commute.

  • Last year, 94% of the batch acquired full time opportunities 3 months after completing their course.
  • Most students convert their internship opportunities to full time to help relieve the stress of economic turmoil.
  • Major companies that hire from Rotman are PnG, Google, Bain and Co, BCG, Mckinsey, RBC bank, Scotiabank, etc. The key is to learn how to network with people.

  • I opted for the campus accommodation. This helps with proximity to the college especially in winter when its snowing and is also cheap and well maintained. I would highly recommend this for international students.
  • The residence is a 5 min walk from college. The rent is 1406 per month which includes utilities. The only challenge is that it fills up very quickly.

At UofT, we have about more than 40-50+ companies that visit us and set up multiple job fairs over the academic year where students from different programs and intakes could go and navigate their way and also apply for jobs only if they are upper-year students. We have a placement rate of about 85% within 3 months of any of the students graduating and we have offers from different companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Unilever, BMO, Scotiabank, P&G, and more. We have about 1200+ clubs at UofT that consist of cultural, academic, or athletic clubs from which you could be a part. We have multiple research opportunities with professors of different departments such as Economics, Accounts, Mathematics, or Programming to even research opportunities by being enrolled in a club on campus. We apply through our portal called CLNX.

I chose this university because UofT has always been my dream university since my brother was admitted here. He recently graduated. I always used to hear him boast about how UofT is such a great school and a huge opportunity for international students to grow in and explore further. The competitiveness of UofT is one thing that was scary but attractive as well as it filters out the best students from all over the world and provides opportunities to all of them through resources on campus such as on-campus jobs, clubs, and even co-ops. UofT also has a variety of teachers from all over the world, some of which who are the most experienced and the best in their field in terms of knowledge and experience. In addition, knowing that UofT is ranked 25 in the world was capitative. I feel that UofT provides its students with opportunities not only in academics and careers through Co-ops but also in all kinds of sports, while also giving us a chance to be a part of Varsity Blues. Additionally, UofT also ensures involvement on and off campus by promoting different cultural, academic, and career-oriented clubs alongside Co-ops and on-campus jobs (the opportunity to experience different industries). My experience so far at the University of Toronto has surely been delightful and enigmatic only due to the different experiences I've had. The competitiveness of my university has allowed me to understand and push myself from what I thought I could achieve and try to undertake more challenges in order to try to overcome them and succeed. UofT helped me explore the different industries I could possibly be a part of, helped me become familiar with the culture and people abroad, as well as help me become independent and ensure I do all my work myself and manage multiple tasks with no one's help right from doing my laundry to managing my studies and being productive. I have learned how to adapt to different situations, become a risk-taker, and communicate with different people, organizations, and faculty members. So far, this has truly been an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Not yet known, I am still finishing my degree so I’m not really sure what percent of students find a job.

I chose this university because of the course and ranking of the university , these aspects impacted my decision. Overall experience is really great, lots of things to learn , the campus is really pretty with good professors.

Indeed is the best place or just flyers around campus.

It was quick and simple, and my advisor was very helpful with the process. She helped me fill out all of the correct forms and helped me apply for financial aid. Went over the best route for the course in my field of study.

Students are easily able to get a basic Canadian internship/co-op if they try. It gets much easier around 3 years.

CV + supplementary about experiences and challenges. I wrote about extracurriculars with 420 in volunteer hours Awesome alumni network + high ambitious people. I also know uoft is one of worlds best in reasearch A awesome place with tons of the most ambitious young people in the world. The addition of like-minded people + the research heavy emphasis on work we do, make it the best uni to study especially if you love deep rooted research.

The 5 main value propositions of the university are the following: 1)The diploma (i.e. the “I went to class certificate”) 2)The network of students/professors/alumni you build 3)Social prestige 4)Credibility amongst employers 5)Exposure to research: Ultimately U of T is a top research school, so if this appeals to you then go for it. Research placements are definitely cool, but they aren’t worth killing yourself over.
