Requirements vary by program level, with Bachelor Degrees carrying the highest thresholds.

For Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs:

  • Class 12 completion with 50% or higher overall marks (as per college guidance)
  • English test minimum: IELTS 6.0 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 60, PTE 52, Duolingo 110, or CAEL 60
  • Subject prerequisites vary by program (mathematics for engineering diplomas, sciences for health programs)

For Graduate Certificate programs:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-year college diploma with 50% or CGPA 5.0/10 (recommended)
  • English test minimum: IELTS 6.0 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 60, PTE 52, or Duolingo 110

For Bachelor Degree programs (BScN):

  • Class 12 with 65% or higher including biology and chemistry (as per college requirements)
  • English test minimum: IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 91 with minimum 22 each section, PTE 70, or Duolingo 120

All test scores must be dated within 2 years of the application deadline.

Key insight: Duolingo English Test at 110 is accepted for most St. Clair College diploma and graduate certificate programs, giving Indian applicants a lower-cost and faster-turnaround alternative to IELTS.

St. Clair College Acceptance Rate 2027

The overall acceptance rate at St. Clair College sits near 44% (estimated). The college does not publish an official rate; the figure reflects third-party estimation and is not directly attributed to a single source.

Highly competitive programs such as Bachelor of Science Nursing, Practical Nursing, and Paramedic close much earlier and admit at rates well below the college average. Applied business, IT, and skilled trades admit closer to the headline figure.

Reality check: The 44% figure spreads across all applicants and programs. Indian applicants with 55% or higher on Class 12 and clean English scores generally receive an offer if they apply before the equal consideration deadline.

St. Clair College Campus, Facilities and Student Life

St. Clair College operates a main campus in south Windsor plus four downtown Windsor sites and a Chatham campus 90 kilometres east.

  • Location and transport: Main Windsor Campus at 2000 Talbot Rd. W. is connected via Transit Windsor Route 5 to the University of Windsor and downtown; Chatham Campus is a 75-minute intercity bus ride away.
  • Housing: On-campus residence at Windsor and Chatham is available on a first-come basis, with the majority of Indian students living in off-campus rentals within 5 kilometres of campus.
  • Notable facilities: SportsPlex fitness centre, Health Plex clinical lab, MediaPlex broadcast studios downtown, and the Ford Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing.
  • Indian student community: Windsor sits directly across the border from Detroit and hosts one of Canada’s largest Punjabi and Gujarati diaspora populations, with active student clubs and regional temples nearby.

What Indian students say: Windsor rentals climbed sharply from 2023 through 2025 and finding shared housing before landing is now the top pre-arrival task. Public transit is reliable weekdays but sparse on weekends, so a bike or shared ride helps.

St. Clair College Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

St. Clair College reports graduate outcomes annually via the Ontario Ministry of Colleges Key Performance Indicator (KPI) survey.

  • Graduate employment rate (6 months): Sits in the 80% to 85% band for the Ontario college sector; verify latest cohort figure on the official KPI page
  • Median starting salary: Not disclosed at institution level; Ontario college diploma graduates typically earn CAD 42,000 to 55,000 (INR 29.0 to 38.0 lakh) in year one
  • Top recruiting sectors: Windsor-Essex automotive supply chain, Chatham-Kent manufacturing, healthcare across Erie St. Clair, hospitality, and Detroit-adjacent logistics
  • PGWP eligibility: Most 2-year diplomas, advanced diplomas, and graduate certificates qualify graduates for up to 3 years of open work authorization
  • Career support: Co-op placements in eligible programs, on-campus job boards, career fairs each semester, and dedicated international-student employment advising

Insider note: Indian graduates from IT, applied business, and skilled trades diplomas at St. Clair College typically find first roles in Windsor-Essex or a short commute to Toronto’s western GTA. Nursing graduates enter Ontario’s regulated bridging program before licensure.

St. Clair College vs Peer Colleges

The peer set covers Ontario public colleges of applied arts and technology that Indian applicants shortlist alongside St. Clair College for diploma and graduate certificate credentials.

St. Clair College stands out on cost and cross-border location. The Windsor-Detroit corridor offers exposure to US supply-chain employers that Toronto-based college students do not reach as easily.

St. Clair College suits Indian applicants pursuing employment-focused diploma or graduate certificate credentials in Ontario at approachable annual tuition of CAD 15,000 to 24,000 (INR 10.4 to 16.6 lakh). Most postsecondary programs deliver PGWP eligibility, opening a 3-year Canadian work window and a defined pathway to permanent residency through the study in Ontario route.

The college is not the right choice for applicants targeting research-heavy academic careers or master’s and doctoral programs, since it does not offer graduate research degrees. Those students should shortlist the University of Windsor, University of Waterloo, or another mid-ranked Ontario research university instead.

  • The number of campuses in the Windsor and Essex counties is 3: the main campus and riverside in Windsor and another one in Chatham. Most amenities are present on the main campus south of the Windsor, like a basketball court and an open auditorium.
  • Fests like the Bollywood musical nights and events related to Canadian culture and heritage happen often on the college.

Overview

I chose this college because of my IELTS score and the course that I like to study this is the best place and the weather is very good here in Windsor. For a student to have a quality education and a better time to enjoy the actual learning, gaming, tutoring, medical facilities etc...St Clair would be a good choice with affordable fees when compared with other colleges or universities.

Yes, you can apply for a Post Graduate Diploma in Canadian colleges with a BA in Linguistics, even with a third-class classification. Admissions criteria vary by institution, but some may consider relevant work experience or additional qualifications in their assessment. It's recommended to review the specific requirements of each program you're interested in and highlight your strengths in your application.

Generally, SCC requires a minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent for admission to PGD programs. However, You can explore the OSSD courses to learn more about the curriculum, fees, and other details.
