  • I am in research; I have not been enrolled in classes for a while now. My last class was before GPT happened. At that point I used to feel we don't have many AI related courses, which is probably not that true anymore.
  • My university is a very research focused university, not much industrial focus.
  • I used to take 2 courses each semester when I was taking classes, I feel like one could do 3 each semester easily. One get to choose how many classes they want in a day, there is no strict rules on that.
  • I was in the COVID batch, like 10-15 per class.

Fees

  • I remember back in 2021 it was 18 lakhs INR per semester; I'm not sure anymore.

  • It wasn't that difficult. It was a mix of theory and practical. Some specializations, like entrepreneurship, can be more practical than theoretical.
  • Depends on where you are in your program; in the core phase there are 6 hours of classes. from 8 am to 4 pm
  • The average class is usually between 90-150 students. Usually, sept batch is larger than the jan batch.
  • In my batch there were around 30 Indians out of 180 total students.

Fees

  • Tuition: 76,000 Euros
  • Hostel: ~7200 Euros but this will depend on the room you choose, the size of the room and if the rent changes during the year.
  • Tuition is charged in 3 installments; you can ask for a bit of delay if you need more time and that will be allowed. Hostel rent is paid monthly but again, you can ask for some time if you need it.
  • Monthly expenses would be around 900~1000 euros. HEC has shuttles to Paris but if you want to go at a time when there is no shuttle or want to go places not covered, then you'll have to pay for it. You can get various types of Navigo passes and use those on buses, trams and metros.

  • Course difficulty is about mid to high, depending upon which subject you pick. Course is a mix of theories and practical orientation. It is more aligned with practical application of technology and tools you learn rather than the bare minimum theory.
  • Courses do have a lot of practical implementation and hands-on code practice with detailed material to go through, and professors are highly supportive of the courses as well.
  • There are mainly 2 classes scheduled per day, mostly during afternoon and evening time.
  • There are 50-60 students in each class and there are about 15 Indian students, which depends on the choice of each student's coursework. All students have freedom to choose any course they want within the department and some out-of-department courses as well.

Fees

  • Total tuition fees for two years are as follows:$46000
  • Housing cost would be around $1000 per month, including food, utilities and other expenses. It can vary depending upon the rent and other factors.
  • Fees are charged semester-wise. Before 1 month of the semester, they start rolling out the fees based on the course you select and the credits you need to earn.
  • Monthly cost comes to around $700 with rent of $500 and other expenses being groceries, food and recreation, as well as transportation.

  • I haven't got any challenges on accommodation; it is ready to move in when you can find the vacant home on the internet like google or you can connect through fellow students for more information or room sharing if you are comfortable doing that and buy a car for better travel purposes and have some cash with you.

  • The process for finding accommodation is that you have to search for accommodation on the university portal. On the university portal, there are two options for on-campus and off-campus accommodations; you can choose whichever feels right or is in the budget.
  • I would prefer going through these accommodations which are offered by (College) itself; staying apart from it becomes challenging because the vicinity is not that safe and people might overcharge you.
  • I have stayed in Midtown on 1st, which was quite budget friendly but it was unfurnished and had no utilities like Cooking station, oven, microwave or dishwasher. I have even stayed at Agave 350, which is quite the best because they even provide you gated security for you and the packages that arrive when you order from Amazon. The plus point over here was that it felt quite safe in Agave compared to Midtown. If your budget is quite good, then i would suggest Agave 350; if you have a mid-range budget, then go for Midtown on 1st.

  • Through alumni, we can find good accommodation. Finding roommates is the real task. You can find both cheap ones and expensive ones here.
  • Apartments near universities might be comparatively expensive. Campus crossing is a good place to live. Entrada is also a good option. Average $500 per month.

  • I find it through some online portals but you can also search for on-campus stays. If you need the best gym, consider any student housing near south recreation centre. North one is not that great.

  • The difficulty is very easy aside from a particular set of courses (Neural Networks, Machine Learning introduction or an external courses from the MIS department).
  • The school of information focuses heavily on theoretical knowledge and leveraging DS towards domain specific research.
  • Positive aspects of the course were definitely some great faculty, flexible workloads and research avenues aplenty.
  • Negative aspects were definitely a focus on non-industry standard software’s like R and a focus on basics on a bunch of courses.

  • It wasn't very difficult, as it was almost the same/continuation of what i had learnt during my bachelors. But, it was challenging to adjust to a different system initially. Almost all the classes are both theoretical and practical. most of the assignments are practical and hands on and are evaluated very strictly and are even checked for plagiarism or use of AI tools. I like how most of the courses are not entirely theoretical and we will have a lot of classroom activities like discussions, quizzes, and labs that contribute to our grades and also help share and communicate information.
  • I believe the major drawback would be how big the assignments can be and how hectic and overwhelming they can get. For grad students, the classes can be at any time between 8:30 a.m. and 7pm. But, in a day we will have at most 3 classes.
  • The average number of students in a class can range from just 15 students to almost 35 students based on the popularity of a specific class or is it is a mandatory course for a specific program. When I got into UofA there very few students on MS in data science program as the program was just introduced in the university but now there are almost 50-80 Indian Students on this course.

Fees

  • So as a full-time international graduate student, we are supposed to take 3 or more credits each semester and the tuition and fee are based on the credits taken. For my previous semester, the total tuition and fee was $18,300, out of which $59.00 is the Arizona Financial Aid Trust Fee, the International Student Fee is $200, tuition for 3 credits is $13,311, and the miscellaneous fee (library & tech) is almost $5000. Monthly expenses: rent: $500-$550/month (varies based on utilities), and other expenses will be around $70-$100/month based on personal expenses.
