Colleges Where I Was Rejected
Reason for Rejection
- Probably should have written a better SOP. And also should have published more papers. More experience in the field I am applying for would have helped. And also the competition is pretty high here. GRE was one of the important scores.

Tips to enhance your application
- Should definitely have published Research papers, and should have Internship experience. It adds on to the profile. Apart from that good GRE score and good SOP. SOP really matters a lot; be careful while writing it.
Admission Experience
- The University of Arizona has great research opportunities. I was interested in working under a professor on research projects, which I actually did and I gained a lot of experience. Location-wise it might not be great but education-wise it's great here.
- Had the opportunity to work part-time as well. So my expenses were covered.
Class Schedule
- Depends on the credits taken. Mostly six classes. Two for each course. Timings again depend on the course taken. It can be any time in a day. Depends on the professor.
- There are a lot of Indians in my class since my course is a pretty common course among Indians. Assignments take a lot of time. Should be prepared to work hard.
Faculty
- Ratio is pretty good; I don't have the exact number. There are separate office hours set by professors to meet them and ask any doubts. Which is a great thing. Dr Greg Chism is great at teaching and supporting academically. Had a great time attending his classes. No faculties don't help in finding part-time.
Campus Life
- A lot of events and fairs happen throughout the semester; it is great for networking and having fun while you're studying. We can borrow laptops, books, or any gadgets from the library for the whole semester, so we don't have to worry.
- There are many campus tours that happen at the beginning of the semester.
Part Time Jobs
- Usually students get $14.50 per hour. It is pretty difficult to get a job but it is possible to get it if we start early. I would suggest students apply for part-time as well as RA/TA before coming here itself.
- They can mail the professors directly. And for part-time, they can apply via handshake website.
- A lot of students get RA and TA. They have to apply early. On campus was pretty easy when I came here, but now a lot of students try for it, so students have to start before coming here. Opportunities can be found on handshake website.
- Students can work only for 20 hours per week; we are not allowed to go over that.
Placement
- Still looking for a job; the market is a little bad right now. If you have good experience in India, you can take a chance and come here.
- Average salary for a STEM course would be 80K to 100K. Students find jobs through referral and cold emailing. Salaries can go up to 120K if the candidate is really good. experience matters!
Accommodation
- Through alumni, we can find good accommodation. Finding roommates is the real task. You can find both cheap ones and expensive ones here.
- Apartments near universities might be comparatively expensive. Campus crossing is a good place to live. Entrada is also a good option. Average $500 per month.
