Course Curriculum

10

  • Course difficulty is about mid to high, depending upon which subject you pick. Course is a mix of theories and practical orientation. It is more aligned with practical application of technology and tools you learn rather than the bare minimum theory.
  • Courses do have a lot of practical implementation and hands-on code practice with detailed material to go through, and professors are highly supportive of the courses as well.
  • There are mainly 2 classes scheduled per day, mostly during afternoon and evening time.
  • There are 50-60 students in each class and there are about 15 Indian students, which depends on the choice of each student's coursework. All students have freedom to choose any course they want within the department and some out-of-department courses as well.

Admission Experience

  • I applied for the following universities:
    • University of Texas - waitlisted
    • University of Arizona - accepted
  • I extensively researched universities and colleges in the United States of America. Since my target country was fixed, I did not look at other countries at all. In the US I focused on a particular course with the latest I. Demand technology and skills that are being offered rather than outdated generic theory. I applied to the above-mentioned two universities which have these kinds of courses and j got accepted into UA so I chose this, which also aligned with the course objectives.
  • Course offered from UA and the curriculum that they offer is quite relevant to what the current changing market demands. It is a research-orientated university with an up-to-date curriculum in AI and machine learning.
  • Admission process was quite streamlined. You fill out the application form on their website called gradeapp and fill in your academic details with supporting documents and if you have a GPA greater than 3, there are high chances that you'll be accepted in University.
  • My admission experience was quite smooth. You'll get updates as early as possible and within the timeline they mention.
  • I applied for the fall 2024 intake because the fall intake allows for summer roles and enough time for applying to various jobs and interviews without running out of time.
  • Admission process may take from 1 month to 2-3 months depending upon the profile and evaluation it requires.
  • If the profile is good enough and has a sound educational background with decent academic credentials, then it can be accepted as early as possible.

Faculty

10

  • At UA faculty to students ratio is about 1 faculty to 15 students. This allows faculty to engage more with students and respond to the students' questions and queries when asked.
  • Faculties are willing to help students and provide necessary support when required with their course questions and department-related development.
  • Faculties do support in referrals and support students to achieve their academic goals.

Campus Life

10

  • There are a wide range of campuses, including information science, civil engineering, the school of music, electrical engineering, social science, Medicine, space science, psychology and more.
  • University has a wide range of clubs which organise the events, such as fairs, student gatherings, trips, and fun activities that allow all students to collaborate and cooperate.
  • University has very developed sports infrastructure as well and a football stadium that organises the sports events and competitions throughout the year.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are typically very few open positions for the TA, RA and DA for the students. Most positions are available for the phD students and postdocs who work with professors and departments. There are also opportunities for the master's students to work at some place.
  • There are all kinds of jobs like canteen, campus store, and students' union jobs and transportation-related jobs that can be available to students.
  • At max, students can work 20 hours a week during the semester, while during work it can be up to 35 Hours.
  • It is very competitive and tough to get a job.
  • Students apply for such jobs on a university-dedicated portal called handshake which posts jobs regularly and can be accessed by any student. Students typically need to apply with their resumes and cover letters, then, depending upon the process, appear for the interview. Once that is done, you can wait for your selection. It can be difficult to get a job, so make sure to apply regularly and be proactive.

Placement

8

  • There are very few students who get the jobs on campus and chances are that many will not get jobs. But always make sure that you organize your study schedule with work and if it gets overwhelming, then it's good to refrain from working.
  • Placements are quite common but equally tough to find so make sure you apply and network widely enough so that it gets easier to get a job.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I found accommodation using university website resources for off-campus housing. We leased it early so it cost us much less compared to market pricing during July-August.
  • My monthly rate is around $500. Monthly rates include electricity and utilities. It does not include food and groceries.
  • Challenges you'll encounter are a lack of information on ground realities. Location and terms of the lease can be quite annoying, as we would not be familiar with the process.
  • My accommodation is close to the university, around half a mile away from the main university area.

Exams

  • If you're from english speaking country and have completed your bachelor's in english than you do not require english test. With a sound LOR, SOP and CV they'll able to evaluate your profile at the earliest possible time.
  • You need your class 12th marksheet and bachelor's degree marksheet, with your undergrad college sending your documents directly to the university for the verification.
  • You need a statement of purpose, a curriculum vitae, and at least 2 letters of recommendation from people who can vouch for your profile and background.

Fees

  • Total tuition fees for two years are as follows:$46000
  • Housing cost would be around $1000 per month, including food, utilities and other expenses. It can vary depending upon the rent and other factors.
  • Fees are charged semester-wise. Before 1 month of the semester, they start rolling out the fees based on the course you select and the credits you need to earn.
  • Monthly cost comes to around $700 with rent of $500 and other expenses being groceries, food and recreation, as well as transportation.

Scholarship

  • Yes, scholarships are available for university students. There are types of scholarships and fellowships based on various criteria and departments.
  • Typically you get a scholarship if you have sound merit and GPA in the previous semester.
  • Each semester is monitored for maintaining of GPA to continue merit-based scholarships.
  • There are foundations and organisations that provide scholarships. University has a dedicated portal for scholarships and financial resources for the same.
