  • Instructors update their teaching style and syllabus according to the needs of industry.
  • The labs that we do are very much relevant to the current technology and help us to get a better understanding.
  • As an International student one should enrol in 9 units per semester (3 courses). The classes are typically in the evenings for the electrical department

Fees

  • Tuition fees are $31,000 and Insurance for the entire duration would be around $4000 living expenses would be $900 per month

  • The process of searching for off-campus accommodation is very easy here. Sometimes during the welcome week, the housing communities will come to educate students about the situations here and they also provide visits to their communities, which are very near and comfortable for students to stay in.
  • There are many communities around the university that are available for students who are coming from other countries.

  • I just live in front of the campus and there are various websites and portals where students get to see open apartment spaces and SJSU also helps students find Off Campus Housing and make the process easy for the students. 101 San Fernando, Colonade, The Grad and 360 Residencies Apartments are the closest ones to the campus and a large Indian Student community stays there.

  • The difficulty level was moderate. It is a mix of theoretical and practical but more on practical implementation.
  • The positive aspect is that there are lots of assignments and projects, which gives a strong foundation to your study. The negative aspect is that there are deadlines to complete the assignments, which makes you more stressed.
  • There is usually one class per day; timings are mostly in the evenings.
  • The average number of students in my class was around 30.
  • There were 80% Indians.

Fees

  • Tuition fees: 26,200 USD
  • Living expense: 20,000 USD
  • The fees are charged credit-wise and semester-wise. We had to pay for every credit and pay before the start of every semester.
  • Rent is around 700-1000 USD
  • Transportation would be around 100-120 USD
  • Regular expenses would include groceries and utilities, which would be like approximately 1000-1500 USD per month. Plus, it varies from person to person.

  • I think MSDA course is a bit difficult and tech oriented. The course is pretty rigid. It is more of a practical course curriculum with tons of assignments to complete each week.
  • For positive aspect, I think the course does teaches us a lot of things which are required in this vast field of data. For negative aspect, I think there are a lot of assignments due to which majority of our time of the week goes in solving them. Average number of students in my class are 35-40 and about 90% are Indians.

Fees

  • Fee is charged semester wise. The tuition fee is 8749 for one semester. Other than that there is cost for insurance which is quite high.
  • Rent really depends on the property one lives in. But it is around 570-800 dollars per month. For transportation the university provides a clipper card for 3 dollars which lets us travel in bus and light rail for free.

  • We have our friends who used to stay here and suggested some apartments but in general, its easier to search on the net or Facebook groups that post about accommodations.
  • They also have dorms to stay in on campus and there are also buildings near campus. Challenges are finding better roommates and good accommodation where everyone is helpful.

Course Curriculum

  • In engineering management, we have the subjects that need Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in order to do our homework, and the syllabus is very easy to study, and usually we don't find it difficult, but here in this course we are required to complete the prerequisite.
  • We usually have 3 hours per course per week so if you choose to have 3 subjects, then 9 hours of class you will be attending. The numbers of students vary with the subjects that we have chosen because a lot of other students from different backgrounds might attend the same lecture but usually I find more than 70 students in our classes; Indian students might be around 30 to 50; I don't know exactly.

Fees

  • My entire course needs 30 credits of subjects without considering pre-requisites
  • My master is for 2 years and it cost me around 32k to 34k for my entire coursework.
  • In addition to this, we have to pay for health insurance, which costs $800 for fall and $1100 for spring, including summer. And same for the next year.
  • My fees can be paid through an education loan or case (not sure if they allot, but I heard of it). Here one subject costs around 3k so by this we can calculate the rest of the fees.
  • Monthly expenses are mainly for rent and utilities, which is around 650 per person here in San Jose.

Located in the heart of silicon valley, relevance course material, decent cost. The course is updated to the latest technologies. ML side has inculcated advanced topics such as Large Language models. Being Data Science enthusiast one needs to know the basics which can be obtained from Mathematics and implementation can be learnt in Computer science. Course here follows that.

One can get accommodation on campus as well as off-campus. Generally, international students find it costly to live on campus. However, there is good community off campus at well.
