University of North Texas Media Studies

The University of Texas Department of Media Arts provides a liberal arts education that empowers students as creative media producers and critical consumers. They prepare students with the principles, skills, critical thinking, and opportunities to succeed in an ever-changing media environment. The Youth Media Lab (YML) at UNT is an innovative and unique collaboration between media researchers and media producers.

The Department of Media Arts has placed a strong commitment to current high-definition technologies in digital cinema. Graduate students have access to a wide variety of designated cameras, rigs, lenses, audio equipment and post-production platforms. We have courses designed to encourage individual, single-author documentary media productions, as well as larger crewed productions.
