LOR
Tips to enhance your application
- One of the most important things is keeping the LORs strong.
- Also, make sure to have projects related to the coursework; otherwise, you will end up with prerequisites.
- My similar background and strong resume made me quickly enrol in the course.
Admission Experience
- I chose the US to do my master's because of Drexel.
- I only wanted to explore the filmmaking so that I could have multiple opportunities both in game development and films.
- I never saw any specific academic rankings or career opportunities. I went with the course curriculum and saw what fit the best for me.
Class Schedule
- Students typically take 3 classes every quarter. I took 2 in-person and 1 online class.
- The class timings usually vary from professor to professor.
- My usual class timings and days are Tuesday at 12pm-3pm and Thursday 6pm-9pm.
- Most of the classes here are offered during the afternoons and evenings.
- There are much fewer Indians when compared to any other popular universities.
- Apart from regular classes, the rest of the free weekend is almost utilised for personal projects and assignments.
Faculty
- My course has almost less than 10 students. So, it is going to be a 1:10 ratio.
- I have connected with a few of my professors so far, and everyone's being friendly and helpful both academically and financially as well.
- Yes, professors usually hire teaching assistants and research assistants to help students with their expenses.
Campus Life
- The university has almost 9-10 campus buildings, excluding the library, gym, and medical centre.
- There are very few festivals and events done during the initial quarter.
- But there were some notable Holi, Diwali, and Bollywood events going on every year.
- We have many clubs for different sports like Badminton, Squash, Swimming, Boxing, BasketBall.
Part Time Jobs
- People usually get paid from $10/hr to $15/hr.
- It depends on the store and the role. It is pretty much okayish in terms of finding a part-time job.
- You have to keep in touch with professors and managers of specific stores to find a part-time job.
- The usual process would be applying online, but sometimes contacting the managers would also do the thing.
- With good academics, we can contact professors and keep in touch with them regularly.
- If interested, they would hire you for TA/RA if any project has funding.
- There are other on-campus jobs at Chipotle, Insomnia Cookies, and other dining areas, which occasionally hire students on campus.
- People are allowed to work for 20 hours a week.
Placement
- I have no idea about the job percentage because I never came here to work. I came here to secure knowledge and go back to India.
- As far as I know, the average salary one would be getting after graduating is somewhere around $70-130k.
- Students typically find jobs through LinkedIn, Handshake, professor contacts, etc.
Accommodation
- People find houses from Zillow.com, Apartments.com. There are other reality groups that offer affordable housing options to students.
- There are also WhatsApp groups for Drexel Indian students who help in finding accommodation.
- Look fast; if you drag the time, houses fill up pretty quickly, and you will be left with an expensive one.
