Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • UAlbany has greater advantages than the other universities. It has semiconductor foundries around the city, and also several companies like IBM, GE, GF, and TEL are nearby.
  • Albany is the capital of New York State, where most of the state offices are located. The same goes for the companies as well.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

  • The decision was not made by the university. I applied long ago but there was no response from them. While I hardly remember that while applying, I was very close to the deadline.
  • Also, UTA is a good university to pick, but unfortunately, I could not get a decision from the university. I have also followed up and the time was already up.

Tips to enhance your application

  • Include your achievements and degrees. If you are under some club, mention them. Include why you are specifically interested in this course and why you have chosen this university.
  • And you have done enough research about the professors before applying to this university. Include any professor's name and include why you want to take his course and how it helps you build your career.

Admission Experience

  • The USA is a land of opportunities; UAlbany is a Tier 1 state university. ECE has a wide range of career aspects, according to my background. Albany is in upstate New York, where you can travel easily to New York City, Boston, and Canada within 3 hours.
  • Career opportunities are good, as I have mentioned earlier. Overall experience: 4/5.

Class Schedule

8

  • 4 classes a week. Depends on the professor but mostly between 8am and 7pm. 30 students is the class strength. 60% of Indians were in my class. 5 hours, especially for courses more than 7 hours.
  • The assignments are tougher than we think but those are the key aspects of learning. Studying here can be hard in the first place, but eventually you can get it.

Faculty

8

  • 1:15 is the faculty-to-student ratio. Faculties won't help with references. You must be on your own for your job search.
  • The faculties guide you on the process to get a full-time job, like what are the required skills for the industry out here. They are very helpful and open regarding these.

Campus Life

8

  • 4 campus are there UAlbany Uptown campus, ETEC, UAlbany Downtown campus, UAlbany health campus. They are accessible via bus routes. Library, sports and health services are available. Final Exam Dinner is the popular event where for every ending of the semester, there will be free food for all students.

Part Time Jobs

  • $15 is the basic pay around New York State. References are the key to finding jobs here. Find someone who is working on campus and get the information from them so that you will know a way.
  • Most of the jobs will be posted on the university website, while some of them are done internally. So be active all the time.
  • Assistantships are mostly given to PhDs. There is huge competition for on-campus jobs where you have to have a reference to get into. 20 hours is allowed while you are enrolled in a course.
  • For internships and other jobs, if you are on a summer or winter break, you are allowed up to 40 hours a week to work.

Placement

6

  • 40% will get the full-time job opportunities, while mostly around 60K is the minimum salary annually.
  • References are the key to finding jobs. While for every semester there are career fairs for each department where you will have a chance to meet the HR's from the companies nearby. You can share your information and talk to them in person.

Accommodation

Off Campus
7

  • Zillow and Trulia are the most trusted websites where you can find trusted accommodations.
  • Where there are listings and you have scheduled an appointment with the landlord for viewing the house and making a decision. I haven't faced any issues. Finding the right house according to your requirements is tough.
