My journey in New York university

Applied to 5 universities and received admission from all the universities with scholarships: ASU - Arizona State University NYU - New York University NJIT - New Jersey Institute of Technology Stevens Institute of Technology UW - University of Washington I didn't get rejected from any of the universities I applied to. NYU's reputation, campus, networking, career-building help provided, professors, Ranking, and so on influenced me. Admission process was very simple and it took me only 10 days to complete all the processes. Good score in accepted exams, as much as I know: IELTS: 6.5, GRE: 320 Minimum Score are: IELTS: 6, GRE: Not required (Prefer not to provide a score rather than providing low score.) I applied for my Master’s in Cybersecurity right after completing my Bachelor’s for Fall 2024 intake. The deadline for priority application was November 30, 2023, and I got my acceptance in March 2024. I definitely received a late response after emailing the course director multiple times, but it was definitely worth the wait. Applied in 7 uni’s (3- Admit, 4- Reject) New York University, Northeastern University, State University of New York Buffalo,Carnegie Mellon University, University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, University of Michigan Ann Arbor, University of California San Diego I feel maybe my letter of recommendation or my statement of purpose might not have met the expectations, but the universities I got rejected from also had class sizes of around 10, 60, 10, and 200, respectively. I am interested in Research in Machine Learning, computer vision, and robotics, and NYU was best among my admits in these domains. The job aspects at NYU are also very good. I applied for the priority deadline, but there is a final deadline as well. After that, the admissions started to roll in February. Some of the students who applied to MSCS got redirected to MSCE, and I was one of them. After getting admission, we have to pay the initial enrollment fee to confirm our admission, after which the process of VISA starts, like i20, then all VISA processes where NYU has helped us through various webinars.  Documents required for the application process for eligibility criteria at NYU: a. Resume, b. Transcript c. Statement of Purpose d. Letter of Recommendation(2). e. Test Score(GRE, and TOEFL/IELTS) The Statement of Purpose was a bit challenging as it had these requirements: Your total essay upload should be in 12 pt, Arial font and no more than two pages, double-spaced, in length. So, fitting everything on two pages, with double spaces, was a challenge. In the Fall of 2024, I am interested in research, so it motivated me to the graduate program. It took about 6 months, starting from October to ending in March. In the initial months, I prepared my documents like a statement of purpose and letter of recommendation and crafted my curriculum vitae for this application. I really enjoy studying at NYU, we have soo many resources that two years does not seem enough to explore and use all of them. We also have a safety cab service where we can book free cabs between 11pm and 6 am but only between campus buildings. We also have a box office where we can book cinema and broad way show tickets for heavily discounted prices. The education here is amazing and you will learn a lot if you choose to. Scoring marks depends on how much you actually learn and perform in the college....Read More

Till now it has been great. Extremely tough curriculum, but it is after all NYU. There have been many great events. Even one job fair. It is great but little too expensive. I got rejected because I feel I didn't have good GRE score to get into this college as it is one of the best colleges in the world and highly competitive. Also I felt like I should have some achievements to get into such competitive colleges.) I chose NYU over others because my friends were in NY and that college is situated in the Big Apple where plenty of opportunities are available be it startups or big tech companies. The admission process consisted of applying and waiting for result. Eligibility criteria was GRE and TOEFL. I guess min score was 115 in GRE. The overall admission experience as moderate. I applied to Fall 2023 and the factors that influenced my decision was a companies usually hire during the Fall season just after we graduate in May. The admission process took 3 months.
