No Exaggeration Whatsoever!

I applied to 4 colleges. I got 3 accepts and 1 reject. Acceptances are from Arizona State University, SUNY Buffalo, and the University of North Texas. The only Reject is Northeastern University. Maybe my resume was lacking work experience at that time and that is a top-tier university expecting higher grades than what I secured from my bachelor's. So I guess those are the few reasons. Ranking and academic reputation of the course I was enrolled, Course Curriculum, Tuition fee, and the cost of living – these are a few of the factors that influenced my decision. I have applied on my own through their website and later sent my GRE, IELTS test scores. LORs are uploaded by my professors through the link they got by email. Accepted exams are GRE, IELTS/TOEFL. Min scores are GRE - 305+, IELTS - 6.5 and above band and good academic grades in bachelor's. Overall admission experience is smooth and no challenges are faced. I applied to the Fall 2022 intake. I got only 2 admits and chose this since this was cheaper and the other college didn't have a much better rating or anything else. GRE 321, toefl: 103, btech, required scores no idea this keeps changing....Read More

I had applied to these five master's programmes in various universities: Arizona State University, University of Illinois Chicago, Northeastern University, University of Southern California, and New York University. Fortunate to have gained admission to all, I picked ASU because of its strength in biomedical engineering research, flexible coursework options, and great potential for opportunities at the Biodesign Institute. I chose ASU because its biomedical engineering programme very closely correlates with my interests in biomaterials and medical devices. ASU impressed me most with the flexible curriculum, research at the Biodesign Institute, and support from faculty. The admission process-state of the art! – was smooth and transparent. I submitted my application along with transcripts, SOP, resume, and recommendation letters; a few weeks after that, I received an admit. Largely, most master's programmes require an average GPA of about 3.0/4.0, as well as scores for English proficiency tests, such as TOEFL iBT-80+ or IELTS 6.5, and for many engineering subjects, the GRE is optional. All in all, the graduate admission was mostly smooth, the main issue being just collecting all the docs on time. The best part: ASU communicated with me clearly and efficiently throughout. I chose the Fall intake mostly because of the broader offerings and that it is the preferred choice of most master’s students due to the recognisable course and research opportunities offered. I applied for the following universities: DePaul University: Admitted Kingston University: Admitted Arizona State University: Admitted I was fortunate to receive admissions from institutions like DePaul University, Kingston University, and Arizona State University—where I ultimately confirmed my admission—there were a few universities that did not accept my application because of the Spring intake! Most of the universities accepted Fall intake! Hence the rejection! It was like an American dream! Since childhood I always wanted to study abroad once in my lifetime! I wanted to get into ASU as it closely aligned with my academic interests and career goals. Admission process was smooth! It was a bit tricky to understand the student portal and to navigate through since I was back in India! After asking seniors and taking help, I was able to figure out the portal and then paid the fees with the help of my bank manager! It was very straightforward. The eligibility criteria: I gave IELTS with a band score of 7, and due to covid, the GRE was waived off! Spring Intake 2023: I was working full time and needed an experience of 1.5 or 2 years before coming to study abroad! Since experience helps a bit! ASU - Admitted, UT Dallas - Admitted, UCSD - Rejected, NYU - Rejected, Texas A&M - Rejected Pandemic deferrals created a huge applicant backlog, making competition fierce. Additionally, a non-CS background put me at a disadvantage, as many programs favor applicants with direct experience. These two factors likely combined to make admissions extra tough for my intake year. I picked ASU because they had a great program for my major and the campus felt right. I had a few friends who got into some great opportunities after graduation. The weather is also similar to the part of the world I belong to. The whole application was pretty easy. just an online form, transcripts, a CV and my grades. I didn't even have to send in my GRE scores since they were optional. The wait was a bit stressful, but I got my acceptance pretty fast, so that was a huge relief. I applied for the Fall 2022 intake at ASU for MS in CS. I chose it to align with visa timelines and start early. I submitted my application in early March 2022 and received my admit decision in about 2 weeks. University of Arizona Data Science program is one of the highly rated Data Science programs in the US. There is a two step admission screening. I got to meet the actual people who selected my admission. I applied for the following universities: University of Texas Dallas—Accepted Arizona State University—Accepted University of California Riverside—Accepted SUNY Buffalo—Accepted Texas A&M - Rejected Northeastern University—Rejected I got acceptance from the University of Texas at Dallas, Arizona State University, the University of California Riverside and SUNY Buffalo. I got rejected from Texas A&M and Northeastern University. I believe my GRE score (310) was not quite good enough to be admitted to those colleges. I chose ASU because in rankings, job opportunities, and overall fee structure, it was slightly better than other colleges I got admission from. Admission process: I applied to ASU with my resume, statement of purpose, and undergraduate transcript. I also sent them my GRE scores. After 2 months, I got my acceptance letter. The eligibility criteria for GPA was a minimum 3.0 GPA on the scale of 4. GRE and IELTS/TOEFL are accepted and there isn't any minimum scores for these tests. My overall admission experience was great; the application was not lengthy and it took minutes to fill. One challenge was the application deadline was very early and they required undergraduate transcripts. So, I had to get transcripts from my college very early. I applied for the Fall 2023 intake. I completed my undergraduate in April 2023 and I wanted to start my master's right away. Also, fall intake is generally better because you will be able to do internships during summer using CPT. If you go for spring intake, you can only do an internship during winter break, which is really hard to get compared to summer. The admission process took 3 months in total.
