What Students Say
Likes
- The course work is good if you wanna learn new things and technologies by trying them out directly in course projects.
Dislikes
- However, with so many students, its highly competitive to get the courses you want. Also unlike other top colleges, the dedicated hiring from big tech is very limited to none here.
- So be aware if you are coming for job guarantee.
Course Curriculum
- Updated and relevant: yes, definitely. But again its difficult to get all the coursework of choice. Avg student count is high (150+). You can get research exposure under thesis. Not much industry from the college side.
Admission Experience
- I had to pick from Software Engineering at top colleges like UCI or UMCP vs computer science at ASU or NEU. GRE: 318 (167 on quant). No need for any reference letters. Just a good cover letter does the job. IELTS 8.0
Faculty
- Classes are pretty big with almost 150+ students enrolled in any good course. Cloud computing and machine learning relevant coursework is good.
Campus Life
- Infra and college life are excellent. Always a happening place.
Part Time Jobs
- On campus pays around $15 an hour. But just like good courses, really hard to find. There are just too many students. TA/RA, as well, is mostly taken away by PhDs. Some graders are given an MS thesis.
Placement
- Within computer science, if you don't have previous work experience, it's seriously difficult to land any right now. A good chunk of ppl do get big tech offers ( Amazon, Microsoft, Google), but mostly ones with prev. work experience.
- No on-campus hiring, you have to apply externally.
Accommodation
- You can get a good 2B2B around campus (20 min commute) for 1800-2000 USD. It generally includes a refrigerator, microwave, oven, induction stoves, washing machine, and dryer.
Exams
- GRE mandatory. IELTS mandatory. Statement of Purpose and CV. No LOR.
Fees
- 60000 USD
