Graduate entry requires a four-year Bachelor’s degree with a GPA near 3.0. Both share IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 4.5 as the English floor.

  • Next primary intake deadline: 1 February 2027 for Fall 2027 international freshman applicants.
  • Eligibility floor: UG needs Class XII around 75%, PG needs a Bachelor’s near 3.0 GPA, both with IELTS 6.5.
  • Acceptance rate: overall around 50% per public university databases.

Popular Indian-student programs include the MS in Computer Science and Software Engineering, MS in Data Science and Engineering, and the full-time MBA. Indian students consistently rate Auburn’s engineering culture, Auburn Family alumni network, and Southeast US career pipeline highly. See the Auburn University hub for a full profile.

Auburn University Eligibility for Indian Students

Auburn’s undergraduate admission is test-optional — meaning SAT and ACT scores are not required for an admission decision, though Indian students who submit strong scores may qualify for merit scholarships and easier course placement. Graduate admission runs at the department level, with the Graduate School setting institution-wide floors that departments can raise.

  • UG academic base (recommended): Class XII around 75% (CBSE, ICSE, or state board) or equivalent GPA near 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • PG academic base: a completed four-year Bachelor’s with a 3.0 GPA equivalent (roughly 65 to 70% in Indian marking) in a relevant field.
  • English proficiency: the university-wide minimums below, unless waived.
  • Standardised tests: SAT and ACT are optional for UG; GRE or GMAT is department-specific for PG.
  • MBA experience floor: two to eight years depending on GPA and MBA variant.

Auburn University Application Process

Indian applicants can apply to Auburn through one of three routes depending on level. Undergraduates use either the Common Application or Auburn’s own portal, graduate applicants use the Graduate School portal, and MBA applicants use the Harbert admissions system. There is no preference between the Common App and Auburn’s own UG portal.

Step-by-Step Auburn Application Flow

  1. Pick the portal. UG applicants pick the Common Application or Auburn’s own portal. Graduate applicants use applygrad.auburn.edu.
  2. Complete the profile. Personal details, academic history, and intended major or department are filled in first.
  3. Upload academic records. Class X and Class XII marksheets for UG, plus Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate for graduate applicants.
  4. Add English and standardised test scores. IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo, plus SAT, ACT, GRE, or GMAT where relevant.
  5. Attach a Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation, and a Resume (graduate applicants).
  6. Pay the application fee of $60 (₹5,722) for undergraduates or $70 (₹6,675) for graduate applicants on the same portal.
  7. Upload the Affidavit of Financial Support and supporting bank letter showing at least $53,259 (₹50.81 Lakhs) for nine months.
  8. Submit and track. Portal status updates confirm receipt of transcripts and test scores.

Auburn University Documents Required for Indian Students

Auburn’s application check involves both academic and immigration paperwork. Indian applicants should have digital scans ready before opening the portal to keep the process moving. Documents below are the full paperwork list — academic scores and English test floors are covered under Eligibility.

Auburn Academic Documents Checklist

  • Passport bio-data page with minimum six months of validity beyond the program end.
  • Certified Class X and Class XII marksheets (UG applicants).
  • Official Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate with certified English translation (graduate applicants).
  • English proficiency score report (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo).
  • SAT or ACT report (optional for admission, required for merit scholarships).
  • GRE or GMAT score report where the graduate department or the MBA requires it.

Auburn Supporting Documents for Indian Applicants

  • Statement of Purpose (typically 500 to 1,000 words) — graduate applicants.
  • Two to three letters of recommendation — 2 for UG, 3 for graduate.
  • Current résumé or CV — graduate applicants.
  • Affidavit of Financial Support — Auburn’s own form, signed and notarised.
  • Bank statement or sponsor letter.
  • Passport-sized photograph as per US visa specifications.
  • MOI certificate from the previous university (if requesting the English test waiver).

Auburn University Acceptance Rate

Auburn’s overall acceptance rate is estimated at around 50 percent, based on publicly available US higher education databases — the university does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate on its website. This puts Auburn in the moderately selective band, meaning a well-prepared Indian applicant with strong Class XII marks and a valid English score has a reasonable chance of a Fall offer.

How Auburn Reads an Indian UG File

Admissions officers weigh Class XII marks, subject mix (especially Mathematics and Sciences for engineering), English test score, and any supplementary SAT or ACT score. Auburn’s test-optional policy — meaning SAT and ACT are considered when submitted but not required — is genuinely applied, but strong scores still help with merit scholarships and honours college placement.

Programme Selectivity Across Auburn Colleges

Selectivity varies sharply by programme. The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, Harbert College of Business, and Architecture are more competitive than open-application majors. Indian applicants targeting Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or Architecture should treat these as reach programmes and prepare a strong file. See the ranking band for how Auburn compares against peer US public research universities.

Insider note: Auburn admits Indian students at a higher rate for the Spring intake than for Fall — spring seats are less contested, so an Indian graduate applicant who missed the Fall funding window can still get an offer by targeting the 15 October 2026 Spring deadline.

Auburn University’s admissions run on fixed intake deadlines for Indian students — 1 February 2027 for Fall freshman entry and 1 November 2026 for Spring — with the shared IELTS 6.5 and TOEFL iBT 79 floor across most programs. Indian applicants should target Fall 2027 through the Common App or Auburn’s own portal and prepare an MOI waiver request early if their Bachelor’s was fully taught in English.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I am a graduate research assistant at Auburn University. My monthly stipend is $1600, and my tuition is fully paid by my advisor. Many of my batchmates have received similar stipends at various other universities across the USA. The main factor is to contact different professors before applying, share your research interests, and go through their interviews.
  • If they tell you to apply, then you should do so. I believe if your BSc GPA is above 8.0/10 and you are reaching out to faculty members in the USA, your chances of obtaining a scholarship increase.

Overview

Positives: They have good programs for machine learning and data science. There are a good amount of professors who work on various research. It's great to coordinate with them. Other than computer science, we can take courses in mathematics, statistics, or computer engineering. All are of great quality. Good funding options. They have a decent career fair option. Atlanta (a nearby city) has a lot of software companies. Auburn has a lot of computer science and AI clubs. This could help a student to improve his skills.

Scholarship

No, I haven't received any scholarship. But, in my university, there are 2-3 possibilities for getting full-fee funding. 1. Getting a TA from the department. Should contact Dr. Xiao Qin (xqin@auburn.edu), Asst. Department chair. Also, before that, the student should get at least volunteer research work from any professor. Only MS thesis students will be awarded funding. 2. Getting an RA from professors. Could cover 2 years of funding. Not mandatory to choose the MS thesis option. 3. Contact the RFID lab (https://rfid.auburn.edu/) to get any job opportunities. The students will be funded (both academic fees and monthly salary)

Overview

It was close to home. Also, their nursing program had great reviews and it was new. I wanted to be near home but far enough to enjoy the college experience. I'm able to visit my family every other weekend.
