  • Virginia Commonwealth University has updated the estimated tuition and fees for evening master’s programs and graduate certificate courses for the 2025–26 academic year.
  • Under the Graduate Education Innovation Program, international students in these programs need to pay $10,084 per semester for full-time study.
  • For part-time study, the cost is $1,067 per credit hour, which amounts to $3,201 for a 3-credit course.

Virginia Commonwealth University offers entry to multiple graduate and undergraduate programs in mainly 2 intake seasons, spring and fall, for international applicants. VCU Virginia Visa-Process (Post Admission)

The visa process at Virginia Commonwealth University is structured and involves the following steps post the application is accepted at the University.

  • The International Admission Team at VCU will send an official acceptance letter to the registered email address.
  • Once the acceptance letter is received, the candidate can apply for an I-20 for F-1 visa sponsorship or a DS-2019 for J-1 visa sponsorship through the letter of acceptance.
  • This can be requested from the GEO office of immigration services (contact: GEOIS@vcu.ed; Subject Line: Request for an I-20) for graduate and undergraduate students. Whereas, exchange students are sponsored for J-1 visas, which can be requested from GEO Global Learning (contact - global@vcu.edu).
  • An F-1 visa can be applied for at a U.S. consulate once the candidate receives the I-20 visa from the VCU.
  • Attend student orientation (for respective graduate/undergraduate programs; mandatory)
  • Register for SEVIS registration with Immigration Services to convert the status of F-1 and J-1 visas from initial to active.
  • Complete the I-9 Processing (Employment Eligibility Verification process) within 3 business days of the first start date of work.

Note:

  • All VCU students, including international students, will have to submit health and immunization records before the commencement of classes. Besides, international students will have to through a Tuberculosis test (during the 1st week at VCU, charge-$25(₹2,088)
  • Besides, all students admitted under the F-1 visa and J-1 visas are required to keep their health insurance intact (a mandatory requirement).
  • Only those international candidates who are enrolled in the full course of study (FCS) are allowed to apply for admission under the F-1 and J-1 visas.
  • Once the SEVIS Registration is complete, the student can begin studies under the F-1 and J-1 status.
  • International students are also required to submit their annual income report to the IRS (regardless of the income earned)
  • All international candidates must remember the V-number or the VCU student identification number that is mentioned on the acceptance letter provided by the University.
