Colorado College (CC) is a private liberal arts college in Colorado Springs, Colorado, best known for its Block Plan, where students typically take one course at a time in immersive blocks. It provides a distinct experience compared to semester-based US universities. CC was founded in 1874 and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which matters for degree recognition and long-term credibility.
For Indian students, CC’s appeal is usually a mix of academics + mentorship + outcomes. The student body is intentionally small (about 2,145 undergrads), and the student–faculty ratio is 9:1, which translates into frequent professor access and discussion-heavy classes.
On the cost side, CC is expensive upfront: 2026–27 tuition & fees are $76,230 (≈ ₹73.78 lakh). However, CC explicitly emphasizes meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted students and also offers a small set of competitive merit scholarships.
Student sentiment you’ll often see on Reddit/Quora-style discussions about CC is fairly consistent. People love the intensity and focus of one-class-at-a-time learning and the outdoor access (Pikes Peak/hiking culture). But some dislike how fast-paced the blocks can feel if you fall behind, and they mention that Colorado Springs can feel car-dependent off-campus. Pair that with realistic budgeting (rent + transit), and Colorado College can be a strong fit for Indian students who want a high-touch U.S. liberal arts experience with serious writing, research, and mentorship. Important Dates 2026 for Colorado College
Most Indian applicants targeting Fall 2026 should think in two parallel tracks: (1) admission rounds and (2) financial aid submission, because Colorado College is very clear that aid timelines mirror admission rounds.
| Application / Aid Item | Key Date(s) |
|---|---|
| Early Decision I / Early Action | Nov 1, 2026 |
| Early Decision II | Jan 15, 2027 |
| Regular Action | Jan 15, 2027 |
| Regular decision notification (reported in CDS) | By Mar 20 |

What should you do now?
- If you applied Regular/ED2 (Jan 15): focus on portal status + missing documents.
- If you need aid: treat the aid checklist as mission-critical (missing items can make the application incomplete).

Courses and Fees 2026 at Colorado College
CC is an undergraduate-focused institution. That’s good if you want a classic U.S. liberal arts experience, but it also means you should judge CC primarily on UG majors, advising, and outcomes.

| UG Area (Examples) | Why Indian students pick it (typical outcomes) |

Colorado College Admissions 2026
Colorado College admissions are selective, but the biggest “fit factor” is whether you can thrive in the Block Plan style (fast-paced, immersive, discussion-heavy). Your application should show you can handle deep reading, writing, projects, and independent work.
A key policy point to note from official reporting: Colorado College accepts standardized tests (SAT/ACT) as part of admissions consideration (i.e., they have testing information in CDS), and the college also reports detailed applicant timelines in the Common Data Set.
UG Requirements (Practical Checklist for Indian Applicants)
- Grade 9-12 transcripts (or 9-11 + Class 12 predicted)
- Strong essays (why CC / why Block Plan fit)
- Teacher recommendations for USA
- English proficiency (if your schooling isn’t fully in English, confirm exact test options on the portal you apply through)
- If submitting SAT/ACT: align with CC’s reported score bands and percentiles (useful if you’re aiming for merit scholarships).
Colorado College Acceptance Rate
Acceptance rate trends help you understand competitiveness and how the pool is shifting year to year (important for strategy: ED vs Regular, and how ambitious your profile should be).
Below are admit rates computed from CC’s official Common Data Set application/admit totals.
| Entry Term (CDS) | Applicants | Admitted | Acceptance Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fall 2025 | 8,822 | 1,949 | 22.09% |
| Fall 2024 | 8,511 | 1,572 | 18.47% |
| Fall 2023 | 7,532 | 1,509 | 20.03% |
This doesn’t mean CC is “easy” now—it means admit rate fluctuates with the applicant pool size and institutional priorities. For Indian students, the best lever is still fit + academics + narrative clarity (why CC, why Block Plan, what you’ll do with it).
Scholarships at Colorado College in 2026
CC’s scholarship landscape has two main buckets:
- Need-based institutional aid (including for international students if you apply on time), and
- A limited number of merit scholarships (highly competitive).
The table below summarizes the most relevant awards Indian students ask about.
| Scholarship / Aid Type | Eligibility | Deadline | Amount / Benefit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leadership Scholarship | Auto-considered with admission application | With your admission round | $60,000 (₹58.06 lakhs) over 4 years |
| Trustee Scholarship | Auto-considered with admission application | With your admission round | $28,000 (₹27.10 lakhs) over 4 years |
| Presidential Scholarship | Auto-considered with admission application | With your admission round | $20,000 (₹19.35 lakhs) over 4 years |
| Barnes Scholarship (Chem/Biochem) | Additional process; typically very limited | See CC details | Usually 2 full-tuition awards |
| International need-based aid | Must indicate aid on application + submit forms | Deadlines mirror admission | Typical award may include up to $2,100 work-study |
- If you don’t apply for need-based aid by the published deadlines, you may be expected to show you can fund eight semesters fully—and you can become ineligible to apply later.
- Merit scholarships are explicitly described as very limited—so your main affordability lever is often need-based aid (if eligible) rather than “counting on merit.”

Colorado College Placements and Career Outcomes
CC publishes a First Destination Survey for recent graduating classes. Here are the most usable outcomes from the Class of 2024 report.
| Metric (Class of 2024) | Result |
|---|---|
| Total graduates | 536 |
| Knowledge rate | 90.5% |
| “Positive outcomes” within 6 months (of known outcomes) | 74.4% |
| Employed | 50.5% (271) |
| Graduate studies | 16.1% (86) |
| Seeking | 22.2% (119) |
The CC story here is realistic: outcomes include strong grad school placement and wide sector spread, but the “seeking” share reminds you that outcomes can be market-dependent—so internships, networking, and career center usage matter a lot. CC’s report also notes many students complete internships (an average of 1.7 internships among surveyed grads).
Campus and Infrastructure at Colorado College
To understand CC’s campus life, start with the academic structure: small classes and heavy discussion. CC reports that many undergraduate class sections fall into very small size bands (e.g., 2–19 students in a large share of sections), consistent with a seminar-style liberal arts environment.
Academically, the headline strengths are:
- High faculty availability (9:1 ratio)
- A relatively small undergraduate population (2,145)
- A campus culture that often blends “serious academics” with “outdoorsy Colorado lifestyle” (hiking, climbing, weekend trips)
If you’re an Indian student who prefers:
- Continuous assessment + deep projects → CC can be great,
- But if you rely on last-minute exam prep → the Block Plan pace may feel unforgiving.
Cost of Living in Colorado Springs for Colorado College Students
Colorado Springs is generally cheaper than many coastal U.S. cities, but rent and daily costs still add up quickly.
| Expense | Typical Cost (USD) | Approx in INR (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Rent (average) | $1,291 / month | ₹1,24 lakhs / month |
| Bus monthly pass (31-day adult) | $63 / month | ₹6,098 / month |
A practical takeaway: if you’re not living in a dorm and you’re paying market rent, Colorado Springs can still run ₹1.6-₹2.5 lakh/month depending on roommates, food style, and how much you travel.
Colorado College is a premium U.S. liberal arts option for Indian students who want small classes, strong mentoring, and immersive learning—but it demands comfort with an intense academic pace and careful budgeting. If you can align your profile with the Block Plan and build internships early, CC can deliver strong long-term ROI.

Overview
I got to know about the college through the Questbridge program. I applied through this program and was accepted during the early decision round. It was free of cost to apply. I applied to 24 colleges. I chose this college due to the unique block plan and generous financial aid. My academic background is a STEM-focused student who attended a residential school called the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics.
Fees
The total cost of attendance was $71,042. Most of this cost was covered by financial aid and grants, amounting to $68,998. These are given to students with financial need such as myself. A possible additional cost is the student health insurance program or SHIP. This costs $2770. I am taking a subsidized loan from the college.

Must the students possess an English proficiency test?
Suppose English is your native language, or you have completed your primary and secondary education in a country where English is the primary language of instruction. In that case, you do not need to take an English proficiency test.
