Bridgewater State University admissions run on a rolling schedule for international students, with fixed cycle-end dates for Spring and Fall intakes. Undergraduate entry expects Class XII at around 65 percent, and graduate entry requires a bachelor’s degree with GPA 3.0.

  • Fall 2027 primary intake: outside-US applicants file by 01 June 2027.
  • Base tuition USD 559.75 per credit (INR 53,596). Application fee USD 50 (INR 4,787).
  • Eligibility floor: UG needs Class XII around 65 percent. PG needs bachelor’s GPA 3.0 plus IELTS 6.5.
  • Acceptance rate: 87.8 percent for Fall 2024, an access oriented public university.

Popular graduate programs include the MS Computer Science (STEM-eligible for 36-month OPT), Speech-Language Pathology MS, MSW, and the Ricciardi MBA. Indian applicants often cite the small international cohort (around 130 students from 29+ countries) and the rolling admissions clarity as reasons to apply to Bridgewater State University.

Status: Open. Fall 2027, the primary intake, closes 01 June 2027 for applicants outside the US and 01 August 2027 for those inside the US. The nearer Spring 2027 window closes 01 November 2026 for outside-US applicants. Applications go through BSU’s own graduate portal, since the US has no central platform for graduate applications. Application fee is USD 50 (INR 4,787).

Bridgewater State University Application Deadlines

Bridgewater State University runs a rolling admissions cycle around two fixed intake windows for international applicants: Fall (the primary intake, when most programs open) and Spring. Outside-US applicants get earlier cut-offs so that visa processing time is preserved. Dates below are drawn from the BSU international graduate page.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use USD 1 = INR 95.74, the live rate on 01 September 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

BSU’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (September) — most programs open here.

Bridgewater State University Eligibility for Indian Students

Bridgewater State University sets institution-wide academic and English floors, and individual departments layer their own prerequisites. Bridgewater State University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

The BSU international graduate page waives the English test requirement for applicants whose entire undergraduate degree was taught in English. Indian applicants from an English-medium college can request this waiver at the point of application by attaching an official medium-of-instruction letter from the registrar with their transcripts.

Bridgewater State University PG Programs and English Scores

BSU offers postgraduate programs across the College of Graduate Studies, spread over education, counseling, business, health sciences, and STEM. All PG applicants file through the same graduate portal, with departmental review for admission decisions. The table shows institution-wide minimum eligibility and English scores. Program-specific prerequisites, such as prior undergraduate coursework in the field, sit on each course page.

Base graduate tuition is USD 559.75 per credit (INR 53,596), so a typical 30-credit master’s totals roughly USD 16,793 (INR 16.08 Lakhs). See the course-wise fees breakdown for detailed per-program figures.

Bridgewater State University UG Programs and Entry

BSU’s undergraduate portfolio covers business, computer science, nursing, biology, education, and liberal arts. UG applicants file through the international admissions office rather than the graduate portal. Entry is broad but competitive, with the institution-wide acceptance rate at 87.8 percent. Indian Class XII marks are converted by a NACES-member evaluator before review.

Bridgewater State University Application Process Steps

All applications route through BSU’s own online portals. Graduate applicants use the Graduate Admissions system, and undergraduate applicants file through the international admissions office. There is no central US platform for BSU graduate applications. Steps below apply to graduate applicants. UG applicants follow the same paperwork route via the undergraduate admissions form.

  1. Create account and start application on the BSU graduate portal for your chosen program and intake.
  2. Pay the application fee of USD 50 (INR 4,787) on the BSU Graduate Apply portal, non-refundable.
  3. Order WES, ECE, or IERF course-by-course evaluation with GPA conversion, sent directly to BSU.
  4. Send an official English test score (IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 79, PTE 53, or Duolingo 110), or attach an MOI letter for the waiver.
  5. Upload a personal statement aligned to the department’s stated focus.
  6. Arrange three Letters of Recommendation submitted directly by recommenders through the portal.
  7. Complete any departmental interview required for Clinical Psychology MA, Mental Health Counseling MEd, or School Counseling MEd.
  8. Track status on the portal until you receive the admission decision, then request the I-20 for F-1 visa processing.

Bridgewater State University Admission Decisions

Because BSU runs rolling admissions, decisions arrive continuously through the cycle rather than on a single release date. Department reviewers work through applications in the order they become complete, so an earlier complete file usually means an earlier offer.

  • Decision timeline: most complete files hear back within 4 to 8 weeks.
  • Interview programs: counseling and clinical psychology reviews may take 10 to 12 weeks.
  • Offer conditions: often conditional on WES evaluation, final English score, or a specific prerequisite course.
  • Acceptance step: confirm your seat, then submit passport and financial proof to trigger I-20 issuance.
  • Deferral: written requests to the next intake are considered case-by-case, with no automatic deferral policy.

Bridgewater State University Documents Required Checklist

All documents must reach BSU as official copies, either directly from the issuing institution or through the credential evaluator. Uploaded scans are accepted for initial review, but originals or verified electronic copies are required before an I-20 is issued.

  • Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity past the intake date.
  • Course-by-course credential evaluation (WES, ECE, or IERF) of transcripts and degree certificate.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation, academic or professional, submitted through the portal.
  • Personal statement tailored to the specific program.
  • Updated resume or CV covering academic, research, and work experience.
  • Official English test score report sent to BSU, or an MOI letter for the waiver.
  • Financial proof for the first year, bank statement or affidavit of support.
  • Passport-style photograph for portal upload and I-20 processing.
  • Provisional degree certificate if the final degree has not yet been issued.

Bridgewater State University Acceptance Rate

BSU is an access oriented public regional university, meaning it admits most applicants who meet its stated requirements. The Fall 2024 acceptance rate was 87.8 percent, up marginally from 89.2 percent in Fall 2023, based on 9,096 applicants and 7,987 admits. This makes BSU one of the more predictable Massachusetts public options for Indian applicants who clear the basic academic and English floors.

Meeting the institution-wide GPA 3.0 and English floors gives a strong probability of admission for most non-clinical programs. Clinical Psychology, Counseling, and Speech-Language Pathology remain exceptions. Their effective rates run well below the institution-wide figure because departmental review adds interviews and prerequisite coursework checks. See the program-level acceptance data for more detail.

Enrolment for Fall 2024 stood at 9,727 students total, with 8,270 undergraduate and 1,457 graduate. About 130 international students from 29+ countries were on the roll, so an Indian applicant admitted here will typically find a modest Indian student base on campus rather than a large one.

Insider note: BSU does not publish program-specific acceptance rates. The Fall 2024 institution-wide figure of 87.8 percent is IPEDS-reported. For competitive programs (SLP, Clinical Psychology, Counseling), the effective rate is materially lower, often below 30 percent, because of interview gating and cohort caps.

USA F-1 Student Visa for Bridgewater State University Students

Indian graduate and undergraduate students at BSU apply for the F-1 student visa. The process starts only after admission. BSU issues Form I-20 once your seat is confirmed and financial proof reviewed, and the I-20 is what you carry to the visa interview. Total government fees run to USD 535 (SEVIS USD 350 plus visa fee USD 185, around INR 51,221 combined), separate from any biometric or DS-160 processing costs.

Financial proof for the visa mirrors the I-20. You must show funds covering tuition, mandatory health insurance (USD 4,962, INR 4.75 Lakhs annually), housing, and living expenses for the first academic year. Bank statements not older than three months, education-loan sanction letters from Indian lenders, and affidavits of support from immediate family are all accepted. On arrival, students complete SEVIS check-in through the BSU International Student Services office within 30 days of program start.

2026 update: After the F-1 visa is granted, BSU graduates of the MS Computer Science and other STEM-designated programs qualify for a 24-month STEM OPT extension on top of the standard 12-month OPT, for a total 36 months of US work authorisation post-graduation.

Tips and Checklist for Bridgewater State University Admissions

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Bridgewater State University. Apply them alongside your program-specific requirements, not in place of them.

  • Start WES evaluation 8 to 10 weeks before deadline: Indian marksheet processing runs long.
  • Apply for the Fall intake if possible: the primary intake opens the widest program spread.
  • Attach the MOI letter early if your bachelor’s was English-medium, to skip IELTS or TOEFL.
  • Target program-specific deadlines: MSW, SLP, and Clinical Psychology have hard January to February 2027 cut-offs.
  • Line up three recommenders 6 weeks out: BSU wants academic supervisors first, professional second.
  • Budget for USD 4,962 (INR 4.75 Lakhs) health insurance, mandatory and not waivable by Indian policy.
  • Request the I-20 immediately after admission: F-1 slots at Indian consulates run 8 to 12 weeks in peak season.
  • Do not apply to more than two BSU programs in one cycle: dispersed applications weaken all of them.

Bridgewater State University is a straightforward admissions target for Indian applicants meeting the GPA 3.0 and English floors. The main complexity is program-specific January to February cut-offs for clinical and counseling tracks. File WES early, choose Fall as the primary intake, and use the MOI waiver where eligible.

Overview

It had a great education program, which was what I majored in! It was also far away from home, so I could get that independent experience. It was crucial for me to set out on my own. I really loved the campus, and found that it was so homie and suited my needs! It wasn't too large or too small either. It was right in the middle. Honestly, the best four years of my life and I call it a second home, I'd love to go back.
