The fact that student come from diverse background and culture makes learning more enriching
They have a huge campus and people can have walks and spend time with their friends till late night
Students have to ho for fieldwork and internship after every semester which gives them am opportunity to apply all their knowledge practically.
Dislikes
The campus is situated a far from city and it is little difficult as there is no proper transport(public) facility for students from campus.
The hectic schedule can be overwhelming for the students sometimes.
Admission:
For getting admission to TISS, one is supposed clear a written Test TISSNET. Every year TISS rolls out the application forms around November - December. Candidate can only fill 3 courses. Once the written test is cleared, candidate has to clear 2 more rounds - extempore and personal interview. There is a score released combining all 3 scores of candidate and if it matches or exceeds the cutoff candidate has got the admission. They are given time for few weeks to fill fees and confirm admission. From 2024 admissions will be taking place by CUET, so one can expect few changes
We had to go through an entrance test known as TISSNET where we have to attempt 100 MCQ questions and then there was a cut-off that we have to qualify in order to proceed to the next step of the admission process. The next step is known as extempore where we have to write why we chose this course and other details about ourselves then we have this last stage of the admission process which is the personal interview where the panel asks us questions based on the extempore that we had filled and also questions apart from that. Then based on our scoring we are given admission and yes there are reservation benefits for SC/ST people they have a slightly different cut-off from others.
All the details usually get available on the official TISS website 2-3 months before the entrance exam.
College should take less time in passing information and do things fast
Firstly we have to clear tissnet either online or offline mode . Application form is available in website. Then nest step is personal interview. Interview should be given by 3 or 4 panel members. After that result declared

I joined TISS after completing my graduation from North Eastern Hill University with Sociology Honors. The admission process started after I was qualified for TISSNET, which is an all-India-level competitive exam. According to my acquired cut-off, I was eligible for the Guwahati campus where I had to go through another two exams including essay writing and personal interview. The interview rounds were tiresome but went down very smoothly. I am very proud to be a part of the TISS fam which gave me a lot of theoretical and practical exposures. I also developed my soft skills. I can't thank this institute enough that has built me through in and out, the person I am today.
This programme I am enrolled provides an wide array of subjects ranging from basic maths, statistics, hindi/Assamese (option is provided between the local language and hindi) and all disciplines that come under social science. Tata Institute of Social Science is one of the premiere social science institute in India with renowned faculty.
