Visva Bharati University was founded by the first non-European Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Thakur (popularly known as Tagore) in 1921. Visva-Bharati is a pilgrimage for education and culture. It reflects the Tagorean ethos of making a complete human being. Visva Bharati University offers various Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses under various specialisations giving the students a pool of options for undertaking higher studies. There is a total of 9 departments offering UG, PG, M.Phil. and P.hD courses including Patha Bhavan for school education. The University also provides for certain specific courses specially designed for the foreign students. The admission procedure for all the UG and PG courses generally starts from May and ends in the third week of June. Admission for most of the courses is done based on the merit of the students.

However, for some undergraduate courses of Sangit Bhavana, Kala Bhavana, Palli Samgathana Vibhaga and Vinaya Bhavana, separate admission test will be conducted

The Viswa Bharati University offers 8 UG courses under a variety of specialisations for students who have cleared their 10+2 examination. Visva Bharati University Application Process 2024

Students must apply online only except B.Ed. and M.Ed. course
Admit cards (wherever applicable) to be generated at the university website
Applicants will have to report at least one and a half hours before commencement of the admission test
The Admission Tests for courses (wherever applicable) will be conducted in Santiniketan and Sriniketan by the respective department
Applicants must produce their original final mark sheets of previous public examinations and other relevant documents along with attested photocopies at the time of admission to various courses failing which his/her candidature will not be considered for admission

FAQs

Ques. What is the mode of the application at VBU? How much is the Application fee?

Ans. The mode of application is only online. For every course, the application fee for General candidates is Rs. 500.

In case, a student isn’t having an online portal to pay for the Application form, how will he/she be able to avail the form?

Ans. In a given situation like this, a student can deposit the amount at various HDFC Bank branches using a Bank Challan which will be available online and the details of the Bank will be given in the Challan.

A Peaceful, Culturally Rich Journey at Visva-Bharati University

Admission:

I chose VBU over other colleges because of its peaceful campus, strong language programmes and unique academic environment inspired by Rabindranath tagore's vision. I had also applied to JNU and EFLU, but after careful comparison I found VBU more aligned with my learning style and personal goals. The UNIVERSITY offers a more focused and supportive setting with smaller class sizes and close student-teacher interaction which is ideal for studying a language like Japanese. The admission process was conducted through the CUET( COMMON UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE TEST) . The eligibilty was 10+2 with a valid CUET score. For Japanese VBU considers marks of either ENGLISH or GENERAL TEST whichever you get higher marks in. I dont regret choosing VBU it was the right decision for my academic and personal development.
