University of Calcutta Post Doctoral Human Development FAQs
Ques. Who is eligible for the Post Doctoral Programme in Human Development?
Ans. Candidates must hold a PhD in Human Development, Psychology, Education, Sociology, or an allied discipline from a recognised university, with a strong publication record and an original research proposal that extends the doctoral work.
Ques. What is the fee and duration?
Ans. The programme runs for two years. Total fee is INR 4,500 (INR 2,250 per year). An application fee of INR 500 is payable at submission (INR 250 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates).
Ques. What research topics are available in Human Development?
Ans. Research themes include cognitive and socio-emotional development in children, adolescent well-being, ageing and gerontology, family and community resilience, early childhood education, disability and inclusive development, and social welfare policy.
Ques. Is a stipend provided during the programme?
Ans. The University of Calcutta does not directly pay a stipend. Candidates holding a valid JRF from UGC or ICSSR may continue their fellowship during the post-doctoral tenure under the granting agency’s rules.

Ans. Candidates apply with a research proposal, publication list, and PhD certificate to the relevant department. The Departmental Research Committee evaluates proposals and calls shortlisted candidates for a presentation before issuing provisional acceptance and mentor allotment.
