University of Calcutta Ph.D South And South East Asian Studies: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Research spans the history, political systems, economies, cultures, and international relations of South Asian and Southeast Asian nations including Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Faculty work in area studies, regional diplomacy, colonial history, post-independence politics, and contemporary geopolitics.

Ans. The minimum duration is three years. The total programme fee is INR 18,000, covering tuition, registration, library, and laboratory charges as per the University of Calcutta fee notification, with thesis submission fees billed separately at the relevant stage.

Ans. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in South and South East Asian Studies, History, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, or an allied Humanities discipline from a recognised university, with a minimum of 55 percent marks (50 percent for SC, ST, and OBC candidates).
