Aliah University, earlier known as Mohammedan College of Calcutta, is a government-run minority university located in New Town, Kolkata. Mohammedan College of Calcutta became a university in 2008. The university offers many courses at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and PhD levels in fields like Engineering, Management, Law, and Science. Some popular courses include BSc, MSc, MBA, BCom, MCom, MCA, MA, and LLM.
Admissions are done online and based on entrance exams or marks from previous classes. For most courses, students need to take the Aliah University Admission Test (AUAT), which is an online exam. However, some programs, such as B.Tech, require a JEE Main, WBJEE score, or AUAT and JELET for the B.Tech lateral entry exam, while M.Tech requires a GATE score, and B.Ed. is based on both previous marks and AUAT performance.
Aliah University has separated the courses into five groups to simplify all admission procedures. The two sections of AUAT are called Part A and Part B. While Part B varies for every course group, Part A is shared by all of the groups.

Aliah University B.Tech Admission 2025
Aliah University offers a four-year B.Tech program with specializations in five streams. To be eligible for the B.Tech program, candidates must have passed Class 12 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) with a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate. Additionally, candidates with a diploma in engineering are also eligible for lateral entry into the B.Tech programs. Admission is based on the scores from the AUAT and WBJEE exams. The university provides a lateral entry option based on the JELET entrance exam.

Candidates must have completed a Diploma in Engineering in one of the following branches: Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Computer Science, or Electronics & Telecommunication, with an overall aggregate of at least 60%. Additionally, candidates who are currently appearing for their final examinations must have secured an average of 45% across the first to fifth semesters of their Diploma in Engineering.

Aliah University provides undergraduate programs that include B.Tech, BA, and B.Ed. For the following programs: MA, MA/M.Sc. in Geography, MA/M.Sc. in MJMC, LLM, MA in Urdu, MM/MA in Theology, M.Sc. in Statistics and Informatics, or a 2-year M.Sc. in Mathematics:
- Candidates who have completed a three-year degree program and achieved the minimum required marks in the relevant Honours/Major subject from any recognized university may apply.
- Candidates who have successfully passed Part I and Part II exams or equivalent grades in their respective Honours/Major subjects from any recognized university are also eligible to appear for the AUAT. However, their admission will be canceled if they fail to secure an aggregate of at least 40% marks in the Part III/Final Examination.
For the LLM program:
- Candidates must have completed a 3-year LLB or an Integrated 5-year LLB with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate to be eligible to apply.

Aliah University Ph.D. Admission 2025
Aliah University offers Ph.D. programs in various fields, including Engineering, Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Religious Studies. The university also provides Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degrees in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Religious Studies, as well as Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degrees in Science and Engineering. Notably, the D.Litt. and D.Sc. degrees are considered to be above the Ph.D. degree and are awarded based on the candidate’s research aptitude and number of publications.
