TNAU M.Sc Soil Science: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. There are two main routes for admission. Tamil Nadu state candidates apply through TNAU's own PG Entrance Examination conducted at the Coimbatore campus. Candidates from other states must qualify the ICAR AIEEA (PG) examination conducted by NTA and secure seat allotment through ICAR counselling, as 25% of seats at TNAU are reserved under the ICAR quota. There is no provision for direct admission based solely on UG marks without appearing in either of these examinations.

Ans. M.Sc. (Ag.) Soil Science is offered at both the Coimbatore and Madurai campuses of TNAU. However, campus allotment is entirely at the discretion of the university and is based on merit rank. Candidates cannot choose their preferred campus; the university decides the allotment, and the decision is final. Coursework may be conducted at one campus while research work could be assigned to another campus or research station.

Ans. Up to 20% of the sanctioned strength is available as supernumerary seats under self-financing mode, open to both Tamil Nadu and other state candidates. Students admitted under this mode pay an additional ₹25,000 per semester (₹1,00,000 extra over 4 semesters) on top of the regular fee structure. The academic programme, faculty, and facilities are the same for both categories. However, eligibility for certain institutional scholarships may differ, so it is advisable to check with the university before applying.

Ans. Hostel accommodation at TNAU is limited and is not guaranteed as a matter of right upon admission. The university provides accommodation to the extent possible, and students are allotted hostel rooms based on availability. Students who do not get hostel accommodation need to arrange private accommodation near the campus. The hostel infrastructure charge of ₹1,815 per semester is applicable only for students who are actually residing in the hostel.

Ans. Graduates of M.Sc. (Ag.) Soil Science from TNAU have strong career prospects in government agricultural departments (as Soil Conservation Officers, Agricultural Officers), ICAR research institutes, state agricultural universities, fertilizer and agrochemical companies, environmental consulting firms, and NGOs working in land and water management. Many graduates also pursue Ph.D. programmes at TNAU or other agricultural universities. TNAU's ICAR accreditation and research linkages with national and international institutes significantly enhance the employability and research profile of its graduates.

Ans. At the time of admission, students must surrender original documents including the Provisional/Degree Certificate of the bachelor's programme, Transfer/Migration Certificate, Conduct Certificates (one from the Head of Institution and two from Professors), Mark lists/Transcript card, Community Certificate, and a copy of the online fee payment receipt. Importantly, original certificates surrendered at admission are NOT returned until the course is completed or the candidate permanently discontinues. Students are strongly advised to make multiple photocopies and scanned copies of all original documents before submitting them to the university.
