MUJ Ph.D (IT) FAQs
Ques. Is the Ph.D. in Information Technology at MUJ different from the Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering?
Ans. Yes, while both programs are offered under FoSTA, the Ph.D. in Information Technology is housed in the Department of IT and focuses on applied aspects of IT such as data management, network security, software systems, and enterprise computing. The Ph.D. in CSE is housed in the Department of CSE and tends to focus more on core computing and algorithmic research. Candidates should check the list of eligible supervisors for each program to identify the right fit.
Ques. Can I switch my research area after registration in the Ph.D. IT program at MUJ?
Ans. Any change in research area or supervisor after registration requires formal approval from the Directorate of Research (DoR) at MUJ. Such changes are subject to the availability of a suitable supervisor and are governed by MUJ's PhD regulations. It is advisable to finalize the research area and supervisor before registration.
Ques. What is the course work requirement for the Ph.D. IT program at MUJ?

Ques. Does MUJ provide any research funding or grants for Ph.D. IT scholars?
Ans. MUJ has externally funded research projects (government and industry-funded) in which Ph.D. scholars can participate as JRF/SRF/Project Fellows. The entire process is governed by MUJ's PhD regulations (updated January 2025).
Ques. Is there a provision for part-time Ph.D. in Information Technology at MUJ?
