Here are the steps to apply for transcripts from BPUT -
- Fill the transcript form along with information on the number of transcript sets required by you.
- Write an application requesting transcripts, and mention the reason for the same.
- Get these two forms signed and sealed by the college authorities.
- Do an SBI collect online in favor of BPUT. The amount will be based on the number of sets per year required by you. It is 100 rupees per year, for one set.

There is no way at BPUT to convert subject grades into marks obtained. The grades are awarded not for a single score, but for a range of corresponding marks.
For example, the grade O is awarded for 90-100 marks, and the corresponding point for it is 10. The total marks for theory and practical are the same in semester exams, i.e. 100. Practicals follow the same grading system as theory papers.

What's best college among BPUT, SOA (ITER) & KIIT in terms of placements?
KIIT is the best technical college in Orissa, in terms of placements too. Its students get placement offers before the 8th semester itself. But on average, the offers aren’t very attractive. Plus, the fee of KIIT is much higher compared to ITER and BPUT.
My cousin was a bright student at KIIT. He received a good on campus placement. On the other hand, I was a BPUT graduate. Though I was also good at studies, I had to look for off campus placements due to lack of on campus offers.
But my knowledge and hard work eventually paid, and I got a good job with a good package. At present, my cousin and I get an equal salary, and we are both working in different companies in the US.
KIIT is the best for on campus placements. ITER is not as good, but much better than BPUT. But my point is, even if you end up in ITER/BPUT because of financial constraints or some other reason, do not give up hopes. At the end of the day, your hardwork and determination is all that matters.

How do I skip a paper in BPUT and what are the rules associated with it?
As per the new rules declared in 2018-19, you must clear a total of 179 credits (regular) and 129 credits (LE) to get your degree. If your total credits are greater than the above-said criterion, you can definitely skip the extra credit subject if you want to. For example, if you have a total credit score of 182, then you can willingly skip 182-179=3 credit subjects.
- You need to fill up an application form available in the examination department of your college.
- You can skip only one of your exams in all 4 years. Moreover, you can skip the subject only when you pass out.
- To know about your total credits, download the syllabus for your branch, go to the eighth-semester syllabus and check the total credit points from the Total Cumulative Points written over there.
- For the lateral entry students, add the first and second semester credits of first-year and subtract them from 179. The credits of (179-1st year credits) are the minimum credits, say X. Now add the credits of each semester starting from 3rd to 8th, say Y. So now, you can skip Y-X credits.

Credit Index (Sem)(CI)= Sum of all subjects*CP
Total credits (TC)= Total credit of each semester (Exclude the credits of the skipped subject)
