Ques. Can students from non-Kerala backgrounds or Hindi-medium universities apply for PhD Hindi at Kerala University?
Ans. Yes, students from any recognised university across India can apply for PhD Hindi at Kerala University. Candidates who have qualified from universities other than Kerala University must obtain an Eligibility Certificate from Kerala University and upload it along with their application; failure to do so will result in withholding of results. The eligibility certificate verifies that the candidate's PG qualification is equivalent to that of Kerala University's standards. This is a standard requirement and can be obtained by submitting relevant documents to the university.
Ques. Is the PhD Hindi entrance exam at Kerala University subject-specific, or is it a general aptitude test?
Ans. The Kerala University PhD Entrance Examination is a General Aptitude Test consisting of two parts: Part A covers Research Methodology (50 marks) and Part B covers the chosen subject - in this case, Hindi (50 marks). The test is of 3 hours duration and is descriptive in nature. Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks each in both Part A and Part B to be eligible for the interview. A relaxation of 10% is given to SC/ST candidates and 5% to OBC/differently-abled/EWS candidates in the entrance examination.

Candidates who hold an M.Phil. degree with Research Methodology in their curriculum are exempted from Paper I. Paper II (Research and Publication Ethics) is compulsory for all scholars without exception.
