KU Ph.D. (English) FAQs
Ques. Can I pursue Ph.D. in English at Kerala University if I have cleared UGC-NET but not the University entrance exam?
Ans. Yes, candidates who have qualified UGC-NET in any of the three categories (JRF, Assistant Professor eligibility, or Ph.D. admission only) are fully exempted from appearing in the Kerala University Ph.D. Entrance Examination. You can directly apply for Ph.D. registration during the notified session window and will be called for an interview by the Doctoral Committee of the English Department. However, you must ensure that your UGC-NET certificate is valid and has not expired at the time of submitting your application.
Ques. How many sessions does Kerala University conduct for Ph.D. registration in English, and when should I apply?

For the English department, 50 vacancies were available in the January 2026 session.
