Placements at the Computer Science department are quite good in IISc Bangalore.
CS postgraduates interested in high quality R&D in the industry receive good job opportunities at IBM India Research Lab, Xerox Research Center India, and several other research labs. MNCs like Microsoft, Amazon, EBay and NVidia recruit a large number of students from the department. Apart from them, startups offer attractive job profiles and exciting remuneration packages to CS students. Among financial firms, Goldman Sachs and American Express recruit students from the department.
You can rest assured that the placements for ME Computer Science are quite good at IISc Bangalore.

IISc Bangalore is famous for its research-oriented environment. Earlier it focused only on academic research. But in recent years, it has also started giving attention to industry placements.
Most of the reputed companies that visit IITs and BITs, also come to IISc for placements. All the IISc students end up with good packages, irrespective of their course/branch. The median CTC for IISc students was 28 LPA during 2023 placements. The placement process of IISc starts before the IITs, which is a great advantage for its students.
The MTech placements are good enough at IISc. But its grading system is very tough. You’ll have to work hard to maintain a good GPA over there. With a top GPA, you can expect at least 10 LPA as your placement package at IISc. This is applicable for all branches- CSA, SERC, DESE, ECE and EE.
The schedule is more or less the same for all postgraduate students at IISc.
Some are night owls, while others wake up early each morning. The mess opens between 7:30-9:30 am for breakfast. The classes commence at 8, and run till late the afternoon. So the early risers are the ones who eat their breakfast in the mess.
The schedule of postgraduates is quite hectic over here. Most of them work in the labs till night, after their classes. The canteen of IISc Bangalore is called Prakruti. It is where you’ll find students and professors enjoying their evening tea. It is also the place where geniuses sit and think upon mathematical problems.
Those who finish their work early opt for some outdoor activities in the evening. They play Hockey, TT, Lawn Tennis and Basketball in the Gymkhana. You can even find some professors over there. At night, some postgraduates go for night strolls post dinner, while others are busy working in the labs. Unlike the rest of the city that sleeps after 11pm, the IISc campus is awake at all hours.
This question does not have a single answer, so I tried answering for every kind of postgraduate student on this campus.

I lack knowledge of this particular course. But on nptel itself, there is a course called ‘Pattern Recognition and Neural Networks’ by Prof. P. S. Sastry. It is one of the best courses by an IISc Bangalore faculty.
In this course, sir gives unbelievable insights for complicated equations. His students at IISc refer to him as ‘GOD’ for a reason. This course is more mathematically rigorous than the Machine Learning course by Andrew NG on coursera. But the latter is probably better from a practical implementation point of view.
You can check these two courses as well, and then decide which of the three courses is best suited for your learning.

KVPY (SA, SX and SB) is the easiest mode of securing admission into IISc Bangalore for UG studies. It is possible to get a seat even with an ordinary rank in the exam. But it is mandatory to register for the admissions beginning February. The other modes are JEE Mains, JEE Advanced and NEET. However, the cutoff ranks for these exams are high. With time, the cutoff ranks for KVPY are also getting higher.
A BSc (Research) degree from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore is a highly respected and reputable degree that can open many doors for you in the academic, research, and industry sectors. Many graduates from IISc with a BSc (Research) go on to pursue careers in both India and abroad. Some of the future prospects are
In all, a BScdegree from IISc Bangalore can open many doors in the academic, research, and industry sectors, and can provide a strong foundation for a successful career.

Campus do offer placement but it is more research oriented so students prefer to continue the higher studies rather than choosing placement. My plan is also to ago for phd and then post doc to pursue research.

Faculty to students ratio is quite good. Students can approach students anytime they are quite approachable. We have two exams mid term and end term each semester and they are based on whatever we do or learn in the classes.

The campus life is quite good. We have several fests including Pravega and Rhapsody the centres of that. Books and journals are easily accessible via library. Classrooms are equipped with digital display and air conditioning

The Hostel facility is quite good with minimal charges. In the room we get table, chair, bed, fan, cupboard and a balcony attached with room. Meal quality is very good. Registration process for these are quite smooth.
