NIT Hamirpur: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 500 Reviews

The faculty at NIT Hamirpur is highly qualified, with 90-95% holding Ph.D. degrees, and many are graduates from prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs. The faculty-to-student ratio is generally favorable, ranging from 1:10 to 1:100, depending on the department. Faculty members are experienced, with some having 20-25 years of teaching, and they bring a mix of industry exposure and academic expertise. The teaching methods include traditional lectures, use of projectors, and practical labs, but there's a need for more practical and updated curriculum content.

The faculty is approachable, supportive, and helpful, although there are varying degrees of interaction and enthusiasm. The assessment system includes mid-semester and end-semester exams, with difficulty levels considered moderate, and a CGPA of 8.5+ is deemed good for placements. While the faculty is well-regarded for their knowledge, some areas for improvement include better coordination and more interactive teaching styles. Overall, the faculty is committed to providing quality education and supporting student growth.

Student Snaps:

Faculty:

Like taking about mechanical department , we have a quite good ratio of faculty to student ratio . In our class there are 126 peole which are divided in 2 section . Each section is taught by different faculties. Faculties are little strict and not that much student friendly but every faculty is well graduated from reputed college and has ample of work experience and they teach in a good manner with animations . But they are very helpful when it comes to interships or placement. Professor Sehgal is the best faculty I like as he teaches the course KOM in structured manner which is well understood by all the people in the classroom even the average people gets it . And we have 2 semesters per year and exams happen 4 times . One mid sem and one end sem per semester. Professors easily give supply and students can give supplementary exams and pass it. Course curriculum is as per new education policy and is very relevant.

Faculties are really good, provide help to students whenever required . Exams are 7 out of 10 in difficultly . 20-30 percent students fail in exam in every course which is common in most of the universities

Faculty:

The faculty are approchable but in class they are just trying to finish syllabus for themselves and not much keen on explaining the concept just reading out course materilal. The faculty to student ratio is 1 faculty to 10 students. The course structure is that there are 8 semesters and each semester we have an average of 5 subjects and 2 labs. Each semester we have 2 subjective exams Mid Semester(30 marks) and End Semester(50) and we have 20 marks as internals which the professor decides.

Faculty:

Faculties are all friendly and there is a good number of faculties including professors and assistant professors. Speacially Khushboo mam from Communication skills and Navneet sir from Physics are nice and student friendly teachers . There are Mid sem and End sem hence total 4 exams in a year . Exams are easy as compared to the Jee which was their selection criteria . A good CGP can be maintained with a sufficient input.

Faculty:

The relationship between students and faculty is nice but only in some cases. Some faculty is way nicer and approachable than compared to the other. From my personal perspective I really liked Gagnesh sir from my first year. His teaching methods were very nice . I dont like Surrender Soni sir from my second year. He was not good as a human being, always scolding and finding small mistakes in our work. He was hated by many. I one semester, there are two exams. Midsems and endsems. Overall the level of the exams is moderate. Around 30% of the students fail to clear a particular subject.

The faculty is very friendly, especially the branch i am under. CSE professors are extremely chill and helpful and theres zero load from their end of the table. The course structure contains of 2 examinations: mid semester and end semester mid semester is during september end-october end semester is during december the marking schemes depend on professor to professor, but the generic view of it is : 30 marks mid sems, 20 marks internals and 50 marks end sems
