17 Sep, 2025 IIM Raipur is inviting applications for Ph.D (Practice Track) 2025. The last date to apply is Oct 15, 2025. The Results will be out on Nov 26 and the Interviews will be held on Dec 15 and 16, 2025.

IIM Raipur or Indian Institute of Management, Raipur, is a business school established by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The institute provides a variety of postgraduate programs as well as a doctoral program.

IIM Raipur offers an MBA, a 2-year, full-time residential master’s program, as its flagship course. From 2025 onwards, IIM Raipur will no longer be a part of the Common Admission Process (CAP) and will instead independently manage the selection process for MBA. The MBA Program at IIM Raipur is a two-year, full-time, postgraduate residential degree course for graduates from all disciplines who wish to choose a career in management. The course fee is INR 18.41 lakhs.

IIM Raipur Admission 2026 MBA in Public Policy

IIM Raipur offers a fellowship program- MBA in Public Policy and Governance. It is exclusively for Chhattisgarh-domiciled candidates and aims to train young professionals in governance and policy implementation. Eligibility of course is depend on your CAT percentile and your past experience and academics. You can find application form in IIM website and application fees is 1200 and date would be in August to October. Reservation is based on caste and physical condition. Admission procedure was quite smooth Firstly, I had to give CAT exam, which is all India qualifying exam for management. After clearing the ST cutoff of year 2019 which was 50 percentile, I got called for CAP interview at Kolkata. There, I can give interview to get admission in baby IIMs. It was 2 step process. At first, we were given a topic in which we have to write essay. My topic was " Are electronic devices advantage of disadvantage to youth". After that, there was PI round, in which questions were asked about grades, extra curricular activities, personality and academics. Then I checked list of IIM Raipur. I was selected. I went to take admission. I brought all necessary documents and admission was smooth. There is a branch of IDBI Bank inside college campus, through which I got loan. One thing which can be improved during admission process is that they should allow 1 week for admission rather than the next day

It is not common for business schools or the Common Admission Test (CAT) to have a specific column to mention dropout cases. However, if a question about a previous dropout experience in IIM Raipur were to come up during an interview, it is important to be honest and transparent about the reasons for the decision.

It would be appropriate to explain that the decision to drop out was a result of not thoroughly researching and exploring one's interests before committing to the program. It would also be important to acknowledge any personal factors, such as not being physically, mentally, or otherwise prepared, that may have contributed to the decision. It is important to present the dropout experience as a valuable learning opportunity and to demonstrate the steps taken to ensure that the same mistakes are not repeated in the future.

It would be appropriate to explain that after leaving the program, the individual took the time to explore their interests and make sure that they were fully committed to pursuing an MBA before applying again.

Which one should I choose, IIM Raipur or SIMSREE (Sydenham)? I am an average mechanical engineering graduate. I have offers from both of them. Which one should you suggest?

If you choose IIM Raipur you can definitely grab the IIM tag. But in reality, SIMSREE is one of the oldest B Schools and thus has a better plethora of opportunities. Joining SIMSREE is a better choice because

It is one of the oldest colleges in India
It is located in Mumbai, the financial capital of India
100% placement record
Amazing ROI
Small-batch size
Decent faculty base

You can avail so many opportunities by joining SIMSREE but will only get an IIM tag if you join IIM Raipur. Moreover, you will be burdened with repaying the loan. IIM Raipur might also not have top firms visit the campus for placements due to its location.

So it’s better to join SIMSREE and focus on the technical aspect of an MBA than join IIM Raipur just for the brand name.

What is the admission process for IIM Raipur?

In order to secure admission into IIM Raipur, it is crucial for you to perform exceptionally well on the CAT exam and achieve a percentile of 97 or higher. While the CAT 2021 CAP Cutoff was 92 percentile, a score higher than that is recommended to increase your chances of being shortlisted. After successfully passing the CAT exam, you will be required to clear the WAT (Written Admission Test) and PI (Personal Interview) rounds of the Common Admission Process (CAP).

IIM Raipur will then release its own shortlist of candidates based on their CAP round scores, profiles, and percentiles. It is important to note that the percentile requirement may vary depending on factors such as gender and academic stream. The 97 percentile is only a rough estimate and it may fluctuate based on these factors.

Which IIM amongst the two should one join, IIM Ranchi and IIM Raipur?

If we talk about the brand value and worth of these two IIMs I don’t think there are many dissimilarities. The difference between the two is some personal level factors like

Campus: IIM Ranchi has no permanent campus and this is one of the major shortcomings of this institute. IIM Raipur on the other hand has a vast 200-acre campus. It is decked with world-class facilities and will give you the feeling of staying at a hotel.

Placements: IIM Raipur has better placements than IIM Ranchi and for many, this is a major deciding factor. The table below compares the placement statistics of the two IIMs.

Let’s make this easy to understand by comparing what you will be earning in 2 years if you continue to work here and the average package you might be offered after completing an MBA of 2 years.

Your current salary is 13 LPA. So in 2 years, you will be earning around 16 LPA. The average salary of IIM Raipur is INR 17.73 LPA. Now if you compare the two you will see there isn’t much difference between the two. In fact, if you go for an MBA you will end up with an extra loan. Paying back the hefty loan is itself a big task. So, in my opinion, you should continue working in the firm.

If you really want to pursue MBA, prepare for CAT next year and aim for an older IIM as it might improve your opportunities. Then again go for CAT again only if you are confident that you will

be able to ace it.

IIM Raipur admission 2024 will be done through a Common Admission Process (CAP), along with the other 9 IIMs. IIM Raipur MBA admissions are based on the CAT, followed by a Personal Interview. IIM Raipur CAT cut-off is 94 percentile overall and 73 percentile for sectional. IIM Raipur MBA intake is 328 for the 2024-26 batch. The candidates are shortlisted for the Personal Interview, based on the percentile obtained in CAT 2023. Those candidates who have scored above the minimum cut-off have a high chance of getting shortlisted for the personal interview. The final selection of the candidates is done on the basis of the final composite score, which is calculated based on the parameters like CAT score, PI, score, VARC, and profile.

Post Graduate Program (PGP) is a master’s level full-time residential program at IIM Raipur. IIM Raipur is part of the Common Admission Process 2024. The admission for this program follows a two-stage process, namely, shortlisting candidates for personal interview (PI) & personal profile mapping, and final selection. Selection of candidates is based on the Final composite score under each category (General, EWS, NC-OBC, SC, and ST). This admission policy applies only to the PGP selection process for the 2024-26 batch. Please note that IIM Raipur reserves the right to modify the shortlisting criteria for personal interview and final selection at any point in time till the admission of the 2024-26 batch is completed.
