Which one is better for CSE: IIT Patna, IIT Mandi, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Bhubaneswar or IIT(ISM), Dhanbad??

I am a CSE student at IIT Patna and I will try to justify why choosing IIT Patna for your CSE is a good decision. Don’t base your choice on how old an institution is. All the new IITs like IIT Patna or IIT Jodhpur are doing exceptionally well, some are even competing against the old IITs. IIT Patna has a great campus and it has achieved tremendous success in a short span of time. CSE department has a learned and supportive faculty and great seniors. The teams have always performed exceptionally well in the ACM-ICPC and have even made it to the world finals. A good number of students clear the GSoC( Google Summer of Code). NJACK club organizes tutorial classes and workshops on Web development, App development, Android, etc. It also organizes competitions like Capture the Flag, NWoC-an open source coding event, and other competitions throughout the year. Other interdisciplinary teams which you can join are ROBOCON, Supra BAJA, HPVC etc. CSE alums at IIT Patna have made successful startups and others are working in good positions at top MNCs. Overall, the coding culture over here is excellent. The placements for the CSE department are quite impressive. For 2023 placements, the highest package stood at INR 82.05 LPA. The average package stood at INR 35.57 LPA and the median package stood at INR 32.85 LPA. 98.65% of students from the CSE branch were placed. In the end, whether you choose IIT Jodhpur, IIT Mandi, IIT Patna, or any other institution, the choice should be based on your personal preference. However, I would suggest you choose IIT Patna CSE as I am quite satisfied with my choice.

I am getting IIT Patna CSE, but being from Delhi, living in Patna scares the hell out of me. How can I deal with this thought?

My friend is a student at IIT Patna and shared his side of the story about city life there. Unlike the general misconception, Patna is rather a safe city. He visited the city frequently to buy basic things and never did he feel unsafe or comfortable during the 4 years of his stay. The campus of IIT Patna spreads across a massive 500 acres and is beautifully designed. The campus is still in its development phase but not to the extent that it will hamper your college life experience in any way. Students can be seen roaming around and indulging in sports such as table tennis and cricket. As for the CS department, IIT Patna is very dynamic and has many clubs that will keep you motivated and interested in the field. I would certainly recommend you to go to IIT Patna and experience the bliss of college life.

IIT Patna placement 2023 has witnessed a great start with the highest salary standing at INR 82.05 LPA and the average salary standing at INR 29.30 LPA. Students received 72 PPOs and in all 281 offers were made. Some of the Top Recruiters were Amazon, Google, Adobe, etc. Last year, students received 412 offers including 10 international offers. DTU has a better brand name established by its successful alumni spread across the globe. Ultimately it’s your choice whether you want a better campus life or the IIT tag.

Should I go to IIT Patna CSE or drop this year?

It's illogical to consider giving up on such a good opportunity of joining IIT Patna CSE and taking a drop year. Don't let the fact that IIT Patna is a second-generation IIYT dissuade you from joining it. CSE from any IIT is a golden opportunity and should be considered without any hesitation. IIT Patna has been here since 2008 and has grown a lot ever since its establishment and is still expected to improve every year. The placements of this branch in itself are a testament to its excellence. So, its better to join the CSE branch of a new IIT than to take a drop year unless you are certain of a better rank.

IIT PATNA from the INSIDE

For each semester IIT Patna is taking 40000 per semester. My total fees for four years in a IIT is 10.5 lakhs, provided that you do not take fee remmission. If your income is between 1-5 lpa then fees will be approx 5 lakhs for 4 years. And if your income is less than 1 lakhs then fees will be approx 3-3.5 lakhs. This also applies if you are sc/st/pwd. If your parent aren't in a government service then you can easily get fee remmission by showing fake documents if your family income is less tha 1 lac iit will remove his tuition fees if its less than 5 lac 2/3 of fees

tution fees lie in the range of rs.1 lac to 1.25 lacs pa. whereas the complete cost of my education is estimated at around 8-10 lacs, depending upon the fees increase. It is safe to assume that in the coming times, the fee is about to be increased upto 10%. Many scholarships are available, namely reliance, state government, MCA, etc. No portion of responsibility for me as of now.

The fee structure includes tution fees, hostel fees, mess fees, Gymkhana fees, other sources(transport, medical) fee, and academic fee. Total is around 3,25,000 per annum. But on the basis of financial income and caste certificate, you can get relaxation. Also, many scholarships are provided by the government along with the private sector such as the Reliance Foundation and MCM scholarship.

There are many scholarships provided by private companies and from government( especially for girls ). There is a scholarship provided by the college based on merit. Our college has a training and placement cell which helps students with placements. They help us develop our skills.

Extra burden on students due to exams and quizzes

Yes , you are offered concessions in tuition fees if you are form reserved category .Alsoyoucan also get MCM scholarships or different kind of bank scholarships if you have proper documents of your family income being not so high.Tuition fees is almost not there for these kind of STUDENTS.

New path of IIT PATNA

Here for each semester the tution fees is 1 lakh and people will get complete fee concession if having a low income certificate.and message fees is of approximately 20k for each semester and hostel fees is of around 6k. Travel, health and other expenses comprise of 5k. Coming to scholarships we can get some through online, students need to apply for scholarship of he needed.
