Ques. Can students of other states apply to Gauhati University?
Ans. Yes, GU accepts applications from students all over India. Eligibility criteria are the same for all categories unless specifically mentioned by different departments. Rules for reservation are according to government norms of Assam. The out-of-state candidates need to upload an equivalent certificate whenever required.
Ques. Does Gauhati University give scholarships at the time of admission?
Ans. The university offers limited aid such as the Poor Students’ Aid Fund and certain fee waivers. These are applied only after admission and require income proof. Government and external scholarships can also be availed separately. Students have to apply through the respective scholarship portals.
Ques.How is the waitlist managed during the admission process?
Ans. Departments publish waiting lists for seats left unfilled. For each subsequent round, candidates are called from the waiting list for admission. This is updated on the portal or on the notice boards of departments. Admission is strictly done from the waiting list, depending on the availability of seats.
