ADBU B.Tech Civil Engineering FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between the B.Tech Civil Engineering at ADBU and other engineering colleges in Guwahati? What makes ADBU stand out?
Ans. ADBU's B.Tech Civil Engineering stands out for several reasons. It is NAAC A Grade accredited and AICTE-approved, with a curriculum aligned with NEP 2020 that includes emerging areas like Geoinformatics, Earthquake Engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Sustainable Construction. The programme offers a B.Tech with Honours option, allowing students to earn additional credits in specialised areas. ADBU also has international collaborations with institutions like Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok) and Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, providing global exposure. The Azara campus is strategically located near Guwahati airport, and the university has strong industry ties for internships and placements. The programme also includes a dedicated survey camp and industrial training semester, ensuring practical exposure.
Ques. Is JEE Main mandatory for admission to B.Tech Civil Engineering at ADBU? What if I have not appeared for JEE?
Ans. JEE Main is not mandatory for admission to B.Tech Civil Engineering at ADBU. The university accepts JEE Main scores, Assam CEE scores, or scores from any State Entrance Test. Candidates who have not appeared for any of these exams can appear for the DBU-GET (Don Bosco University Graduate Entrance Test), which is conducted by ADBU itself. The DBU-GET is followed by a personal interview. So even if you have not appeared for JEE Main or Assam CEE, you can still apply and secure admission through the DBU-GET route.
Ques. What is the B.Tech with Honours option at ADBU, and how can I avail it?
Ans. ADBU offers students admitted to the 4-year B.Tech programme the option to earn a B.Tech with Honours in an emerging area within the Civil Engineering department. To avail this, students must earn a minimum of 18-20 additional credits (over and above the 160 credits required for the standard B.Tech degree) in the specified Honours area, as per university norms. The Honours option is available to students who meet the eligibility criteria set by the university. Students interested in this option should enquire with the Department of Civil Engineering at the time of admission or during the first year of the programme.
Ques. What are the career opportunities after B.Tech Civil Engineering from ADBU?
Ans. Graduates of B.Tech Civil Engineering from ADBU can pursue careers across a wide spectrum of roles. In the public sector, opportunities exist with organisations like NHPC, NHAI, PWD, CPWD, Indian Railways, and various state government departments. In the private sector, graduates can work with construction companies, real estate developers, infrastructure consultancies, and environmental engineering firms. Graduates can also pursue higher studies (M.Tech, MBA, or MS abroad) or appear for competitive exams like GATE, UPSC (Engineering Services), and State PSC exams.

Ques. What is the hostel facility like at ADBU for B.Tech Civil Engineering students, and is it mandatory?
Ans. B.Tech Civil Engineering students study at ADBU's Azara campus, which has hostel facilities available. The hostel at the Azara campus charges Rs. 39,000 per semester, which is inclusive of room charges and food at the campus canteen.
