ADBU BBA FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between BBA (regular) and BBA Aviation at ADBU? Can I switch between the two?
Ans. BBA (regular) at ADBU focuses on general business administration with specialisations in HR, Marketing, and Finance, while BBA Aviation is a dedicated programme with a curriculum specifically designed for the aviation industry, covering subjects like Airport Operations, Airline Operations, Aviation Law, Air Cargo, and Cabin Crew Management. Both are 3-year programmes offered at the Azara Campus. Switching between the two after admission is generally not permitted, so students should choose carefully based on their career interests. If you are passionate about the aviation industry, BBA Aviation is the better choice; if you want broader business exposure, the regular BBA is more suitable.
Ques. Does BBA Aviation at ADBU provide any direct placement in airlines or airports?
Ans. ADBU has an active Placement Cell and strong industry connections, including with aviation sector companies. The programme includes a compulsory Summer Internship in Semester VI, which often takes place at airports, airlines, or aviation-related organisations, providing direct industry exposure. While ADBU does not guarantee placement in specific airlines or airports, graduates have opportunities to work in roles such as Airport Terminal Executive, Airline Operations Manager, Ground Handling Services, Air Cargo Operations, and Business Development in aviation companies. The proximity of the Azara Campus to Guwahati Airport also facilitates industry interaction through guest lectures and collaborations.
Ques. Is BBA Aviation from ADBU recognised for jobs in government aviation organisations like AAI (Airports Authority of India)?
Ans. Yes, a BBA degree from ADBU, being from a NAAC-accredited and UGC-recognised university, is eligible for government job applications including those with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other civil aviation bodies. However, specific recruitment notifications from AAI and DGCA may have their own eligibility criteria regarding the degree discipline and percentage. Students are advised to check the specific job notifications for eligibility requirements. The BBA Aviation degree provides a strong foundation for both government and private sector aviation roles.
Ques. What is the scope of the aviation industry in Northeast India, and how does this benefit BBA Aviation graduates from ADBU?
Ans. The aviation sector in Northeast India is undergoing rapid expansion under the Government of India's UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme and the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). Two new international airports are planned for the Northeast, and existing airports in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Silchar, and other cities are being upgraded. This creates significant demand for trained aviation management professionals in the region. BBA Aviation graduates from ADBU, being based in Guwahati, are well-positioned to tap into this growing regional aviation ecosystem, with the Azara Campus's proximity to Guwahati Airport being a distinct advantage.
Ques. What is the minimum percentage required for BBA Aviation at ADBU, and does the stream (Science/Commerce/Arts) matter?
Ans. The minimum eligibility is 50% aggregate in Class 12 from any stream. Unlike some aviation programmes that require a Science background, ADBU's BBA Aviation is open to students from Science, Commerce, and Arts streams. This makes it accessible to a wider pool of applicants. The selection is based on the Personal Interview, where your communication skills, awareness of the aviation industry, and overall aptitude are assessed.
Ques. Are there any additional costs in BBA Aviation beyond the standard tuition and annual fees?
Ans. Yes, students should budget for a few additional costs. The Summer Internship in Semester VI may involve travel and accommodation expenses depending on the internship location, which are to be borne by the student. The Research Project in Semester VI may also require expenses for data collection or materials. University Registration Fees and Examination Fees are charged separately as prescribed from time to time. A one-time Convocation Fee is payable at the time of graduation. Students who opt for the Aviation Management Minor in other BBA programmes pay an additional Rs. 15,000 per semester in Semesters 4, 6, and 8, but this is not applicable to BBA Aviation students who are already enrolled in the dedicated aviation programme.
