Ques. Is the Ph.D. (Liberal Arts) at DBS Global University recognised by UGC?
Ans. Yes, DBS Global University is a UGC-recognised university and its Ph.D. programmes are conducted as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations. The degree is valid for academic and government positions across India.
Ques. I have cleared UGC-NET in Political Science. Do I still need to appear for the PET at DBS Global University?
Ans. No. Candidates who have cleared a national-level examination such as UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, GPAT, ICMR, or DST-INSPIRE within the last 2 years of the session they are applying for are exempted from the Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET). You will only need to appear for the interview conducted by the Faculty Research Committee. You must submit the exemption certificate (not the scorecard) at least 2 days before the scheduled PET date.
Ques. Can I pursue the Ph.D. (Liberal Arts) while working full-time in a job?
Ans. The Full-Time Ph.D. requires full dedication to the programme with classes on all working days from 9:15 am to 6:10 pm. If you are employed, you should consider the Part-Time Ph.D. option, which has classes on Saturdays and Sundays. Part-time candidates must submit an NOC from their employer and ensure their workplace provides necessary research infrastructure.
Ques. What specialisations are available under Ph.D. (Liberal Arts) at DBS Global University?
Ans. The programme offers specialisations in English Literature, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Philosophy, Economics, Geography, Linguistics, Cultural Studies, Governance and Public Policy, International Relations, and Public Policy and Governance. Ques. What is the minimum attendance requirement for the Ph.D. coursework?
Ans. Ph.D. scholars (both Full-Time and Part-Time) are required to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each course to be eligible for end-semester examinations. Full-Time scholars must also achieve at least 75% attendance out of total working days each semester to avoid an "Unsatisfactory" Semester Progress Report. Full attendance (100%) is expected as a norm.
Ques. Is there any financial support available for Ph.D. scholars at DBS Global University?
Ans. Yes. Ph.D. scholars who complete their coursework with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 are eligible to be appointed as Teaching Associates or Research Associates. Selected candidates receive a fellowship of Rs. 40,000 per month from the second year of their Research Assistantship. Additionally, national fellowship holders (DST-INSPIRE, UGC-JRF, CSIR-JRF, etc.) are eligible for fee concessions as per university policy.
