What's New in Southampton U?

7 October 2025: University of Southampton MBA fee for the September 2026 intake is £35,600 (approx. ₹42.45 lakhs), up from £33,900 in 2025. Check course details.

19 September 2025: The University of Southampton MBA for international students has an application deadline of 26 August 2026, with the course starting in September 2026. Check course details.

University of Southampton fees for Indian students range from £24,800 (₹31.73 Lakhs) per year for undergraduate degrees to £36,300 (₹46.45 Lakhs) per year for the most competitive Masters. The three postgraduate programmes Indian applicants gravitate toward, MSc Computer Science, MSc Artificial Intelligence, and MSc Finance, are priced at £35,000, £35,000, and £36,300 respectively, all under the Russell Group’s higher tariff band.

The September 2026 PG deadline is 19 August 2026, midday UK time, three weeks away and past the workable visa window for any fresh application. Your realistic entry is the January 2027 intake (select PG programmes only) or the September 2027 full cycle at the 2027/28 fee year.

  • UG BSc Economics 2026/27: £24,800 (₹31.73 Lakhs) per year
  • PG standard, MSc International Management: £32,500 (₹41.58 Lakhs) per year
  • PG higher band, MSc Finance: £36,300 (₹46.45 Lakhs) per year
  • PG tuition deposit: £2,000 (₹2.56 Lakhs), counts toward first-instalment tuition
  • Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship (typical): £3,000 (₹3.84 Lakhs), auto-assessed

A one-year MSc at Southampton totals roughly ₹66-68 Lakhs including tuition, living, visa and IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge, paid upfront with the Student Visa application). A three-year BSc runs about ₹1.49 Crore all-in. Exchange rate used throughout: 1 GBP = ₹127.95 (source: xe.com, 27 July 2026 IST).

September 2026 Intake: Deadline in 3 Weeks, Realistic Entry is January 2027 or September 2027

Intake: The September 2026 PG deadline is 19 August 2026, midday UK time (26 September 2026 for select Finance variants). Fresh applications from India cannot clear deposit, CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, the document needed for the Student Visa) and 3-8 week visa processing in that window. Realistic entry is January 2027 (PG select only, including some Business, Data Science and Engineering programmes) or September 2027 (full UG + PG cycle).

Fee update: The 2026/27 rate applies to both September 2026 and January 2027 entry. UG BSc Economics is £24,800 (₹31.73 Lakhs); MSc International Management is £32,500 (₹41.58 Lakhs); MSc Computer Science and MSc Artificial Intelligence are £35,000 (₹44.78 Lakhs); MSc Finance is £36,300 (₹46.45 Lakhs); MBA is £35,600 (₹45.55 Lakhs). September 2027 moves to the 2027/28 rate, typically 3-5% higher.

When to pay: PG tuition deposit is £2,000 (₹2.56 Lakhs), due within 4 weeks of accepting the offer. It counts toward the first tuition instalment. Full instalment milestones, payment methods and step-by-step guidance are in the Tuition Deposit and Payment Options section below.

Scholarships: The Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship and Presidential International Scholarship are auto-assessed for September 2027 offer-holders, no separate form. The Chevening Scholarship for September 2027 entry opens in early August 2026 and closes in early November 2026, the most time-sensitive external award for planning-stage applicants. Inlaks Shivdasani, JN Tata Endowment and KC Mahindra open windows for 2027 entry between January and April 2027.

Full deadlines, English requirements and offer timeline for the January 2027 and September 2027 intakes are covered on the University of Southampton Admissions guide.

University of Southampton Tuition Fees by Programme

Fees at Southampton are set per programme, not by a blanket international band. The 2026/27 rate applies to September 2026 and January 2027 entry; September 2027 moves to the 2027/28 rate. Every figure below is drawn from the individual course page, and each Indian applicant should confirm the exact rate on the programme page before paying the deposit.

University of Southampton Undergraduate Fees: 2026/27

Undergraduate international tuition sits between £24,800 and £31,000 depending on subject, with engineering, computing and life sciences priced higher than business and social sciences. The one-off UCAS (the UK’s centralised undergraduate application system, UG only, PG students apply directly) fee is £27.50 (₹3,519).

University of Southampton Postgraduate Fees: 2026/27

Postgraduate international tuition ranges from £31,000 for engineering Masters to £36,300 for MSc Finance. Application fees are £0 for all PG programmes; every Indian applicant pays only the £2,000 (₹2.56 Lakhs) tuition deposit on offer acceptance.

Note: Southampton quotes annual fees, not full-programme fees. A one-year MSc pays the annual rate once; a three-year BSc pays it three times, but Southampton fixes the entry-year rate for the full degree duration. Locking in September 2026 (if you are already an offer-holder) at 2026/27 rates protects you from the 2027/28 uplift across all three UG years.

University of Southampton Fee Trend by Year

MSc Computer Science, the flagship programme for Indian applicants, moved from £33,900 in 2024/25 to £35,000 in 2025/26 and held flat at £35,000 for 2026/27. This is a slower rise than the Russell Group median of 5-6% per year, but the 2027/28 fee year is expected to reset upward.

2024/25£33,900₹43.38 Lakhsbaseline

Source: University of Southampton institutional fee schedules, MSc Computer Science course page (verified 10 July 2026 IST); 2027/28 figure is a one-year projection based on Russell Group sector pattern, not a published rate.

Key Insight: If you enter in September 2026 or January 2027 you lock in the 2026/27 rate of £35,000 (₹44.78 Lakhs) for the full degree duration. The September 2027 cohort moves to the projected £36,400 (₹46.57 Lakhs) baseline, which is roughly ₹1.79 Lakhs more per year. For a three-year BEng that difference compounds to about ₹5.4 Lakhs across the degree.

Cost of Living in Southampton for University of Southampton Students

Southampton is a mid-sized south-coast city, materially cheaper than London or Edinburgh and closer in cost to Bristol or Sheffield. Budget £1,250-1,400 per month (₹1.60-1.79 Lakhs) if you live in university halls or share private accommodation with fellow students. The UKVI Student Visa maintenance requirement outside London is £1,023 per month (₹1.31 Lakhs), which sets the visa floor, not a realistic living budget.

ExpenseMonthly (GBP)Monthly (INR)Annual (INR, 12 mo)Notes for Indian Students
Accommodation (halls or shared house)£700₹89,565₹10.75 LakhsHalls include utilities; private house is £600-750

Source: University of Southampton student cost estimates cross-checked with Numbeo Southampton cost-of-living database, July 2026; UKVI maintenance floor from gov.uk Student Visa money requirements.

Note: A one-year MSc uses the 12-month living basis (₹20.27 Lakhs). A three-year BSc uses a 10-month term basis (₹16.89 Lakhs per year) because most UG students return home for the summer break, which cuts your annual living cost by roughly ₹3.4 Lakhs a year.

Groceries and eating out are the two categories where Indian students consistently overspend in the first term. A shared house with three Indian classmates and a rotating cooking roster brings food to £160-180 per month, and Southampton’s Indian grocers (Bengal Store, Poonam Cash and Carry) stock everything from atta to dal at prices close to London Southall levels.

Currency Tip: Your first instalment for the January 2027 intake falls due at registration. Use a forex card or the university’s own international payment provider rather than a raw wire transfer, this saves roughly 2-3% on conversion (₹80,000-1.2 Lakhs on a £35,000 tuition payment). If you are locking September 2027 entry, book forex in tranches across late 2026 to hedge GBP-INR volatility instead of a single lump conversion.

Total Cost of Studying at University of Southampton

The one-year all-in cost of a Southampton MSc for an Indian student sits between £49,600 (₹63.47 Lakhs) for MSc International Management and £53,400 (₹68.34 Lakhs) for MSc Finance. A three-year BSc runs about £1.16 Lakh (₹1.49 Crore) including tuition, living, IHS and Student Visa.

Source: University of Southampton 2026/27 tuition, Southampton living-cost breakdown above, UK Student Visa £490 and IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge) £776 per year from gov.uk Student Visa. UG applicants pay full IHS upfront: £2,328 for a 3-year visa (₹2.98 Lakhs), noted separately from the Year 1 line.

A three-year BEng Aeronautics degree at Southampton totals roughly £1,35,418 (₹1.73 Crore) across tuition, living, Student Visa (£490) and full upfront IHS (£2,328). A one-year MSc Computer Science all-in at ₹66.68 Lakhs is around ₹65 Lakhs of financeable cost after a modest ₹1.7 Lakh family contribution.

An education loan of ₹50 Lakhs (assuming ₹15 Lakhs from savings and scholarships) at 10.5% for 10 years works out to an EMI of roughly ₹65,000-70,000 per month post-graduation. A ₹65 Lakhs full-cost loan pushes the EMI to about ₹87,500 per month.

Key Insight: The single most controllable saving for the September 2027 intake is layering the automatic Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship (typically £3,000, ₹3.84 Lakhs) with an early full-tuition payment. Southampton offers a modest early-payment discount on the balance after the £2,000 deposit; combined these can shave ₹4-5 Lakhs off Year 1 before you even touch external Indian scholarships. Lock the Chevening application by early November 2026 as the higher-leverage alternative.

University of Southampton Scholarships for Indian Students

Southampton offers auto-assessed institutional awards worth £1,000 to £15,000 (₹1.28 to ₹19.19 Lakhs) for offer-holders, and Indian students are eligible for the same UK-government and India-side external scholarships as at every Russell Group university. The single largest external lever is the Chevening Scholarship, which covers full tuition, living stipend and return travel.

External India-Side Scholarships for University of Southampton Applicants

For September 2027 entry, most Indian trust scholarships open their windows between January and April 2027. The Chevening cycle is the exception, opening in early August 2026 and closing early November 2026.

Source: British Council India, Chevening India, and each trust’s published 2026-27 application cycle. Deadlines shift by a week or two each year, so treat these as anchor windows.

Tip for Indian Students: If you are targeting September 2027 entry, the Chevening application (opening early August 2026) is the single highest-leverage award to prepare for right now. It covers full tuition and stipend, roughly ₹60 Lakhs+ of value, and its two essays are the biggest factor. Draft your leadership and career-plan essays through August-October 2026 rather than the last week of the window.

University of Southampton Tuition Deposit and Payment Options

The postgraduate tuition deposit is £2,000 (₹2.56 Lakhs), required to convert your offer into a CAS. It is non-refundable except in defined visa-refusal or medical scenarios, and it counts fully toward your first tuition instalment. Undergraduates do not pay a deposit; the UCAS fee (£27.50, ₹3,519) is the only pre-arrival charge.

Methods of Payment

  • Bank transfer (SWIFT/TT): Standard bank wire from India, plan for 3-5 working days transit and ₹1,500-3,500 SWIFT charges per transfer.
  • University’s international payment provider: Southampton partners with Convera (formerly Western Union GlobalPay) for INR-denominated tuition payments at institutional forex rates, typically 1-2% better than a raw SWIFT wire.
  • Forex card (student prepaid card): HDFC, ICICI, IDFC and BookMyForex issue GBP-denominated multi-currency cards; useful for the deposit and living expenses, not always accepted for the full tuition instalment.
  • Education loan disbursement: HDFC Credila, SBI, Axis, ICICI and Prodigy Finance can disburse tuition instalments directly to Southampton once your Loan Sanction Letter is issued.

Steps to Pay the Tuition Fee for International Students

  1. Accept your offer on the applicant portal within the deadline stated in your offer letter.
  2. Pay the £2,000 (₹2.56 Lakhs) tuition deposit within four weeks of acceptance, via Convera or bank transfer.
  3. Wait 5-10 working days for Southampton to issue your CAS after deposit and English test verification.
  4. Apply for the UK Student Visa (£490, ₹62,696) plus the IHS (£776 per year, ₹99,289) on gov.uk.
  5. Pay the tuition balance on the university’s published instalment schedule (typically three instalments: at registration, in January and in April for full-year programmes).
  6. Keep every receipt and confirmation email as documentation for the Student Visa application, Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) filing, and your education-loan disbursement records.

Southampton typically offers a modest early-payment discount for students who settle the full annual tuition in one instalment at registration. The discount amount is confirmed on the tuition invoice sent after CAS issue, and it is worth requesting explicitly if not shown by default.

Source: University of Southampton student administration finance pages and Convera institutional payment portal (verified 10 July 2026 IST).

Tip for Indian Students: Bank transfers from India take 3-5 working days plus 1-2 more for Southampton to reconcile. If your PG deposit deadline is four weeks after offer acceptance, initiate the wire in week 2, not week 4, so the CAS is not held up. Every week of CAS delay compresses the Student Visa’s already-tight 3-8 week processing window.

Hidden Costs of Studying at University of Southampton

The biggest gap between the offer letter and the actual bank draft is IHS, which most families discover only at the visa-application stage. Budget for the categories below on top of the headline tuition and living figures.

  • IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge), paid upfront: £776 per year, ₹99,289 (PG 1-year), ₹2.98 Lakhs (UG 3-year), non-negotiable, paid at the point of Student Visa application.
  • UK Student Visa fee: £490 (₹62,696), one-off per application.
  • Priority visa service (optional): £500 (₹63,975) for a 5-working-day decision, worth it if your CAS is issued late in the summer for the January 2027 or September 2027 intake.
  • India-side setup: tuberculosis test £70 (₹8,957), academic document attestation ₹5,000-8,000, medical insurance top-up ₹8,000-15,000.
  • Flight to Southampton (via London): ₹65,000-95,000 one-way in September peak, ₹40,000-55,000 in January.
  • UK arrival costs: deposit on private housing £700-1,400 (₹90,000-1.79 Lakhs), winter clothing £150-250 (₹19,000-32,000), initial groceries and kitchen setup £150 (₹19,193).
  • IELTS retake if score below Band C: ₹17,000 per attempt, avoidable with a strong first-sitting.
  • SWIFT and forex charges across the year: ₹15,000-25,000 cumulative on 3-4 tuition wires.

Budget approximately ₹5-7 Lakhs for first-year hidden costs above tuition and standard monthly living. These fall due in a compressed 6-8 week window between offer acceptance and arrival in Southampton.

Note: IHS is the hidden cost families most consistently miss. For a one-year MSc it is £776 (₹99,289); for a 3-year BSc, £2,328 (₹2.98 Lakhs) upfront. It is paid on the gov.uk visa page in one lump, not billed by Southampton, and refunded only if the visa is refused. Add it to the Student Visa £490 and you are at £1,266 (₹1.62 Lakhs) before your flight is booked.

Fee Saving Strategies for University of Southampton Indian Students

For September 2027 entry the highest-leverage move is submitting the Chevening application before the early-November 2026 close; nothing else on this list matches its scale (full tuition plus stipend). If Chevening is not viable, the strategies below can compound to ₹8-12 Lakhs of saving across a one-year MSc.

  • Live in university halls in Year 1: £680-720 per month (₹87,000-92,000) all-inclusive of utilities and internet, versus £750-850 for private houses once bills are added.
  • Work 20 hours per week during term: at UK National Minimum Wage £12.21 per hour (₹1,563), that is £977 per month (₹1.25 Lakhs) before tax, enough to cover most of living costs.
  • Claim Section 80E income tax deduction: your parents (or you, post-graduation) can deduct the full education-loan interest from taxable income for up to 8 years, worth ₹1.5-3 Lakhs across the loan cycle.
  • Verify fee band before offer acceptance: two Southampton courses that appear similar can price £4,000 (₹5.12 Lakhs) apart. MSc Electronic Engineering at £31,000 versus MSc AI at £35,000 for related content is one example.
  • Use the UK Graduate Route: the Graduate Route Visa gives Masters graduates 2 years of post-study work rights after Sep 2027 completion (currently in force). At a typical UK tech starting salary of £35,000-42,000 (₹44.78-53.74 Lakhs), one Graduate Route year offsets 60-70% of your total programme cost.

Tip for Indian Students: The single highest-value non-Chevening lever for September 2027 entry is layering the auto-assessed Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship (£3,000, ₹3.84 Lakhs) with the GREAT Scholarship India (£10,000, ₹12.80 Lakhs). Combined, that is ₹16.64 Lakhs off tuition, bringing MSc Computer Science all-in from ₹66.68 Lakhs to roughly ₹50 Lakhs, well inside the standard Indian education-loan cap without collateral.

Is University of Southampton Worth the Cost for Indian Students

A one-year Southampton MSc at ₹66-68 Lakhs all-in is worth it when you match subject strength to a UK graduate salary of £35,000-45,000 (₹44.78-57.58 Lakhs) during the two-year Graduate Route. In hard numbers, that means loan payback within 4-6 working years on UK income for the flagship computing, engineering, finance and MBA cohorts.

Southampton is a Russell Group research university ranked QS World #111 for 2027, Times Higher #129 for 2026, and #125 in US News Best Global Universities 2025-2026. In subject terms Southampton is a genuine top-tier destination: QS #13 for Nursing, #36 for Archaeology, #40 for Earth and Marine Sciences, #75 for Physics and Astronomy, and #83 for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (all 2025 subject rankings). ARWU Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2025 places Oceanography at #10 and Telecommunication Engineering at #15 worldwide.

The UK Graduate Route Visa (currently in force at 2 years for Masters graduates) is the value multiplier here. A Southampton MSc Computer Science graduate on a £42,000 (₹53.74 Lakhs) London or Reading tech offer clears roughly £2,600 (₹3.33 Lakhs) monthly net after UK tax and rent. That comfortably services a ₹50 Lakhs education loan at an EMI of ₹65,000-70,000 per month without borrowing from family reserves.

Key Insight: Net of the auto-assessed Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship (£3,000) and the GREAT India Scholarship (£10,000), MSc Computer Science drops to a ₹50 Lakhs all-in cost. Against a first-year UK tech salary of £40,000+ (₹51.18 Lakhs+), the payback horizon on this specific combination is 4-5 years of Graduate Route employment, comfortably within the 2-year post-study work window and any Skilled Worker Visa route that follows.

The realistic entry for Indian students starting a Southampton application now is January 2027 (PG select programmes) or September 2027 (full cycle). Budget ₹66-68 Lakhs for a one-year MSc all-in at the 2026/27 fee year, ₹1.73 Crore for a three-year BEng across the degree. The Vice-Chancellor’s and Presidential Scholarships are auto-assessed on offer, so no separate form is needed, and layering the GREAT India Scholarship can shave ₹16.64 Lakhs off Year 1. On a ₹50 Lakhs loan, expect a post-graduation EMI of roughly ₹65,000-70,000 per month, serviceable in 4-5 years on a Graduate Route UK tech, finance or engineering salary. The single action to take this week is drafting the Chevening essays ahead of the early-November 2026 close, which is the highest-value external award for 2027 entry.

Ans. Southampton itself does not publish a stand-alone full-tuition award for Indian students, but the Chevening Scholarship (UK government, full tuition + stipend + travel) and the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship both cover 100% of Southampton fees for eligible one-year Masters candidates. The Chevening window for September 2027 entry opens August 2026 and closes early November 2026.

Ques. What is the fee difference between the September 2026 intake and the September 2027 intake?

Ans. September 2026 (and January 2027) entry lock the 2026/27 rate for the full degree. MSc Computer Science is £35,000 (₹44.78 Lakhs) at that rate. September 2027 is projected at £36,400 (₹46.57 Lakhs), roughly ₹1.79 Lakhs more per year. Over a 3-year BEng that compounds to about ₹5.4 Lakhs across the degree.

Ques. What are the payment methods for University of Southampton tuition?

Ans. Southampton accepts SWIFT bank transfer, Convera (its international payment provider, INR-denominated at institutional rates), forex prepaid cards for the deposit, and direct disbursement from Indian education-loan providers (HDFC Credila, SBI, Axis, ICICI, Prodigy Finance). Convera saves roughly 1-2% versus a raw wire on the full tuition instalment.

Ques. Is the University of Southampton tuition deposit refundable if my visa is refused?

Ans. Yes, the £2,000 (₹2.56 Lakhs) PG deposit is refundable in defined visa-refusal scenarios where the refusal is not caused by fraudulent documentation. You must apply for the refund in writing with the official UK Home Office refusal letter attached, typically within 30 days of refusal.

Ques. What EMI should I expect on a University of Southampton education loan?

Ans. On a ₹50 Lakhs education loan at 10.5% over 10 years, expect an EMI of roughly ₹65,000-70,000 per month post-graduation. On a full-cost ₹65 Lakhs loan the EMI rises to about ₹87,500 per month. A Graduate Route UK tech or finance salary of £35,000-42,000 (₹44.78-53.74 Lakhs) comfortably services the ₹50 Lakhs tier.

Ques. Does University of Southampton charge an application fee for postgraduate courses?

Ans. No, postgraduate application at Southampton is free (£0) across all subjects and intakes. Undergraduate applicants pay the standard UCAS fee of £27.50 (₹3,519), which is a UCAS charge, not a Southampton charge.

Ques. How much do I need to show for the UK Student Visa financial requirement at Southampton?

Ans. UKVI requires £1,023 per month (₹1.31 Lakhs) for living outside London, held for up to 9 months, plus your unpaid tuition balance. For a one-year MSc that is roughly £9,207 living + tuition balance, or about ₹56-58 Lakhs shown in your parent’s or your bank account for 28 consecutive days before the Student Visa application.

  • At UoS, faculty will teach up-to-date technologies and you will also have the chance to participate in research via student innovation projects. Typically you will have 8-10 hours of classes within a week and the rest will be self-study.
  • You will need to spend most of the time learning yourself in the library. Number of students varies based on the module you choose, as there will be a mix of students from different specialisations.

Fees

  • 32000 pounds

  • The difficulty level of my course would be a solid 7 out on 10. It was a mix of both theoretical and practical. Mostly practical as the assignments and exams were more research-based and would take longer to finish. Most assignments were group assignments and a group of 4 would be made.
  • Most positive fact about my course would be its dynamic nature, research focus and practicality. Negative would be that there is too much info to digest in 1 year, especially if you are not from the same background.
  • I had 4 days of class and a maximum of 10 hours of classes per week. Mostly independent learning.
  • Average number of students in 1 class is close to 250, mainly held in auditoriums.
  • We had around 8 Indian students in a class of 250

Fees

  • The yearly tuition fee was 26,500 GBP. You can pay in quarterly instalments. The instalments would depend on how much you pay upfront.
  • Monthly expenses – Depends on your lifestyle. Since I was living at the university accommodation, it was a bit pricey. I was paying 650 GBP per month for accommodation and food (twice per day). You also get a bus pass in that for 9 odd months, which is great. Other expenses would be around 300 GBP.

  • The average students in my course is 100+.

  • The classes will be scheduled for 4 or 5 days a week with an average of 15 hours per week.

  • I got my dissertation to work with the outside organization in London, which is a great industry experience.

Fees

  • It differs year to year. For me, it's approx. 18,000 GBP. This year it may differ.

  • Technical subjects are good but the non-technical side is a bit average. We often get to meet CEOs and other officials from various startups across the UK, which makes the study relevant.
  • 4 classes with a maximum of 8-10 hours a week is the pattern in the UK and there are 50-70 students on average in a class.

Fees

  • It is 20k Pounds, just the tuition fees.

  • My course is very relevant for the present and future, as the world is shifting to more renewable and sustainable energy sources.
  • No industry experience, but we had a research project (dissertation) in the second semester.
  • We have a maximum of 3 or 4 classes in a day, of 45 mins each.
  • We had almost 40 students in our class.

Fees

  • 27404 GBP for one year without an accommodation fee.

  • The course itself was not difficult. The subjects were taught in undergrad which was easy to follow. The real challenge is the assignments and the examination. It was real world applications and problems which needed solution.
  • The curriculum was a mix of theory and practical, 50:50. The course covered vast topics in cybersecurity ranging from basics to advanced forensics. We usually have max 2-3 classes scheduled per day each 1 hour. Labs are 2.5 hours. Strength was 20 and half of them were Indians.

Fees

  • The fees were £29852. In addition to that my accommodation fees were £512 per month. We can pay the tuition fees in three installments. One in October, One in January, One in April.
  • The accommodation fees can also be paid in the same manner. My laundry, electricity ,and transportation in the city were covered in my accommodation fees and i felt it was very useful. Monthly expenses were only for your groceries and occasional recreation.
  • Groceries for a month may range from £40-50, given that you take some Indian dry spices and packaged food from india. eg: Maggi, Spice powders, Dry fruits. Recreational expenses can also range from £50-100 depending on the person.

  • UoS MBA is a good mix of theory and real-world applications, most of the subjects require you do a lot of teamwork rather than individual assessment. Almost every subject has two elements: group and individual, which has a 40%- 60% weightage depending on the subject. The program is very fast, you won’t even get to know it has come to an end. In the morning we attend classes, evening the hangout with friends and night the studies and preparations for the next day.
  • MBA students don’t get holidays like other programs. For all the coursework the students can take extension but it is not advisable as you will get behind on other subjects. In MBA you also can’t do any part time work, the faculty is very against it. The average class size ranges from 50 to 60 students, with a significant representation of Indian students, approximately 10 to 15 per cohort. We have 9-5 classes everyday and even on saturdays. The course is very demanding.
  • Students are even working by themselves on sundays as well. Diverse the cohort, more the chances for you to learn new things and how much you speak to your peers will help you learn a lot. The MBA is more for networking than learning, it doesn’t support jobs as much it makes you ready to run a business, as it is more about forward thinking and strategy.

Fees

  • Full Breakdown of Fees: The tuition fee for the MBA at Southampton was around £28,000 for international students. • How Fees Are Charged: The fees are charged yearly quarterly
    Monthly Expenses Estimate:

  • The course difficulty, I would give it 4/5 for someone who is familiar with the concepts or has some background. If you're unfamiliar with it, it's a solid 5/5 and you need to put in a lot of hours apart from your lectures as well. It was a mix of both practical and theory, with the practical aspect being 75% of it.
  • The most positive aspect for me was that it was highly practical based, which for me is a plus as I prefer that type of learning. The negative part would be the inclusion of high level mathematics for almost all the modules, even where not absolutely necessary.

Fees

  • The total course fees was around GBP 27000. This included the tuition fees, library fees, etc. However, it does not include the sports membership, that is to be bought separately. I hadn't taken campus residence so it wasn't included in this.
  • The fees were charged in 3 installments, which was more or less semester-wise.
  • In terms of the monthly expenses, it was around GBP 650, with the rent being GBP 500 (120 per week) and the other costs like groceries, sim card, transportation being around GBP 150.

  • The difficulty level of the course was as expected. For a PG course, students were required to focus on research and self-study included more hours than attending lectures. It was intensively theoretical, being a humanities subject.
  • The most positive aspect of the course was that students are given a choice in deciding their areas of specialised studies and can curate a course according to their interests and needs.
  • The most negative aspect was the lack of contact time with professors. Unless you sought out to meet your professors, there were not many chances to interact with the faculty.

Fees

  • Total Tuition fee: £22000
    Scholarship received: £5000
    Payable tuition fee: £17000
Total Accommodation fee (for Ensuite, including utilities and bus pass): £9660

  • The fees could be paid yearly or semester-wise, as suitable for the student. These payments could be made through bank transfers or online payments.

    Approximate monthly expenses:
    Rent: £800
    Groceries: £200
    Restaurants, socialising etc.: £100
