  • The difficulty level of my course curriculum was quite high and complex. It was a mix of both practical and theoretical.
  • Positive: diverse, varied modules, different levels of activities and complex assignments.
Negatives: composition of timetables, few courses were advanced but only had essay submissions and no power point presentation and other forms of assignments were there.
  • My class probably had around 40 students. I had 5-10 Indian students in my course, however I don't know them all.
  • The quality of education was top quality since we had quite small groups for our workshops and seminars and helped us focus on the module and activities.
  • The teaching methodology is the usual classic one which is found everywhere. It honestly depends on the professors as well. The basic structure was a lecture and a seminar for each module.

Fees

  • My course fee was around approx 28 lakhs. This was only the tuition fee. It didn't include the application fee, or the hostel charges. The fees are charged quarterly wise, I had to pay my course fee in 2-3 installments.
  • I took private accommodation separately. However the accommodation charges of King's are different based on the accommodation you choose. They have a variety of different plans.
  • My monthly expenses used to be around: 1300 pounds per month for accommodation; 300-400 pounds per month for food, groceries, transportation. If I spent it on shopping or going out sometimes it used to go up to 100-150 pounds a month.

  • I have completed my Chartered Accountancy course so I personally did feel like the course was that tough. It was a good mix of theory and practical explanations .
  • Classes were usually scheduled 3-4 times a week and we had maybe 1-2 lectures in a day .
  • Duration of lectures varied from 1.30 hrs to 3 hours as well and more often than not they had sufficient breaks between them.
  • I think the number of students in my class was around 100. Majority of them were Chinese students. Around 20-25% of the batch were Indian students. But again the class could get smaller in the 2nd term where we had optional subjects to choose and certain other batches were mixed during lectures.

Fees

  • So my total fees for the whole year was £35,500. It is payable on a half yearly basis. 1st installment before joining and 2nd installment mid-year.
  • I did not live in the university accommodation which to be honest are a bit more expensive than others but are at prime locations of the city. I was living in a private student accommodation where my rent was £165 per week including bills.
  • Groceries run around £150 a month and travel can be around £100 a month.

  • The course was not very difficult and was also suitable for someone who has not studied organizational psychology before. It was much theoretical and lacked real world applicability of the concepts in the industry.
  • It was a unique combination of psychology and psychiatry. Classes are held three days a week for two hours each, for a total of four hours across the three days.

Fees

  • The course fee was approximately 35,000 pounds for a year.
  • The accommodation fee was 340 pounds per week. The fee was charged quarterly. The majority of the expenses were groceries, transportation and rent.
  • Transport expenses are approximately 70 to 100 pounds per month. Cooking meals at home can save on a lot of money and can be pocket friendly then having meals outside so that is highly recommended.

  • Accommodations can be found on the internet directly; try to find alumni on LinkedIn, etc., and talk to them about potential sites or groups where you can find accommodations. You can use these sites: University Living, GradPad, and Amber Student.
  • Challenges are that cheap accommodations get booked way before college starts; be early with the process (about 3-4 months before starting). Best Recommendation near Strand Campus: Northumberland House.

The core modules were very academic in nature, a bit too theoretical for my liking. I had the option to select other modules which were more practical (and more engaging in my opinion). The internship module was interesting however my internship was just a month long and wasn't paid.

Admission Experience

  • I chose UK to pursue public policy due to its similarity with Indian parliamentary system. I particularly opted for King's due to high academic ranking as well as the optional Internship module offered under the degree. London is a great city to explore - both academic and non-academic experiences.
  • My overall experience at King's has been great, I'm grateful for the academic and professional opportunities as well as extracurricular activities. The student life has been exciting. However, I expected a more practical approach with my degree (MA Public Policy) and was a bit disappointed to see the core modules be more theoretical.

Honestly, I wasn't completely satisfied with my course syllabus, as it lacked practical experience and was mostly theoretical. However, we appreciated the assignments because they involved a lot of case studies.

The curriculum was quite practical and relevant - the first trimester was the basics of different domains of banking and finance being taught by academicians and the 2nd was optional modules on different specialisations in the industry. There were a lot of options to choose from and really liked the option to decide what modules you want to take up.

Fees

Tuition fees - £35,500 for 2022-23. It comes to about 40 lakhs in INR terms but might have increased now.

The course curriculum is definitely very sorted and systematic. By the very start of your course, you will know, by what time you have to submit what, and which exams will be held when. There is usually no overlap of assignments. So did not find the course hectic. You might find time to also work part-time. Dissertation is very necessary part of the curriculum. So the last three months are totally dedicated to your research work. The course also makes you develop scientific communication skills, with different kinds of documents to be written in different assignments. Since most of the course discusses new research work and different researchers teach you what they are currently researching, the course is definitely updated research-wise.

The course curriculum is really nice, in our first year we were exposed to a lot of mandatory subjects and we got the opportunity to get a taste of what each subject is like, in our second year we were given choices from approximately 50 optional modules to choose from.
