why to opt? | With organisations increasingly reliant on data science and artificial intelligence (AI), understanding how to analyse, validate and interpret data can significantly enhance your employability. If you’re a graduate in a subject that’s not related to computer science, this MSc will complement your first degree and prepare you to meet the high demand for professionals in data science and AI technologies. With the roots of data science embedded in mathematics, we’ll start by introducing you to linear algebra, differential calculus, probability theory and statistics. This will prepare you for working with data mining algorithms and experimenting using real-world data. You’ll receive an overview of how to design and create software, including an intensive introduction to programming, and explore key topics in AI. We’ll also provide a thorough grounding in how to plan and conduct research in preparation for your dissertation. Further opportunities to specialise and enhance your knowledge of big data, web programming, bio-inspired algorithms and modern information systems are available through a range of optional modules. | Data science drives a significant proportion of global economic activity from healthcare to finance and technology. It's influencing scientific progress across numerous fields including bioscience, energy and telecommunications. This course provides you with the tools and strong mathematical foundation to become an industry expert. You'll gain an understanding of the balanced combination of science and technology required for delivering effective data science. | From software agents used in networking systems to in unmanned vehicles, intelligent systems are becoming integral to modern society – and demand is only going to grow across industries. That’s why many organisations worldwide are looking to skilled experts in AI to provide them with solutions that make their businesses more streamlined. Advanced Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) MSc will equip you with specialist knowledge and a technical skill set in this fastmoving field whilst allowing you to explore a range of relevant topics in computer science. You’ll gain a broad perspective on intelligent systems, covering evolutionary models, statistical and symbolic machine learning algorithms, qualitative reasoning, image processing, language understanding and bio-computation, as well as essential principles and practices in the design, implementation and usability of intelligent systems. | MSc Artificial Intelligence & Applications is a conversion degree designed specifically for graduates without a computing science background. It's based on the Office for Artificial Intelligence’s National AI Strategy recommendations for AI Masters courses. You'll learn not just core AI-techniques, but how to place them within a business context so as to show their value. A skills shortage, particularly around machine learning, means graduates are in high demand. This degree is designed to give you the skills to get ahead of the AI-driven transformation in our economy and society. You'll gain transferable skills to prepare you for a professional career in AI and its applications. These are expected to cover all aspects of society both within the tech sector, as well as outside, including: education | Artificial Intelligence is at the cutting edge of technology and its potential applications are almost limitless. From developing robots that help people in their own homes to using AI in modelling and managing serious health conditions, it is changing the way we live. There is no doubt that this rapidly growing area of computer science will be at the centre of technological advances in the future. Artificial Intelligence masters is taught by a team of active researchers, so you’ll benefit from their ongoing work and be taught the latest techniques on this interactive course.
