  • But please note as I was doing one semester at each university that was one of the reasons I was facing difficulty in terms of having acc. But it could have been arranged better. null

Well, I wanted to change my field of work and experience an international educational system. So, I applied for this course as it seemed very fascinating to me to do a master's in 3 different countries. I got a fully funded scholarship as well. My overall experience has been very enriching as I get to travel, study with people from diverse backgrounds, and experience different cultures and academic environments. My tuition fee, living cost, health insurance and airfare were all covered except my visa application fee. So, it was not that stressful financially for me to pursue this degree which I understand is very expensive if you are going to do it self-funded. Universities like the University of Glasgow are very reputed in the top 100 ranking for their quality of education, research and other things. Overall, my experience was good but definitely very challenging and stressful at times as well as I have been moving to a new country every semester which means finding a place to stay, visa applications settling in a new place and constant planning of travel, academic stuff and other things. It was challenging no doubt but very much worth to be experienced.

I chose this university because it was ranked 76th around the globe according to world QS ranking universities. Additionally, this university is one of the oldest universities in the world.

  • No placement: You have to pay a hefty amount of fees just like Indian IITs and IIMs in India, but you won't get any placement unlike them. These Universities organize career events and counselling sessions to provide placements, but reality is start-ups come to sessions to promote themselves and bigger firms just come and give you their website address or cards and go off by saying check online. Then it's up to you only to apply, face 100's of rejection and finally make it if you can. null
  • Lack of funding: After BREXIT, most of the Universities in the UK are facing funding crises, that's why they don't have internships/ research opportunities, especially for science students. null
  • One-year Masters Program: One year program is too short to analyze, adapt and act. But it can be good for those who have good work experience already and looking to grow rapidly. null

To be honest, I chose this college in a hurry. I also got letters from the University of Edinburgh and UCL, but my financial conditions didn't allow me to join UCL as you've to show a 12.5Lakh London living allowance to join it, whereas 9.5 for the rest of the UK. Fees were bearable for UOG, So I decided to go for it. Also, I wanted a blend of Biotech and management programs, as I didn't want to pursue a PhD or research and wanted to join a biotech firm as a Project manager or in Operations, so I thought this course and this Uni would be perfect. I would rate my overall experience as 2.5/5.

I chose this university as it ranked very high in the life science field, that was a major factor. Another was that it had a very good curriculum.

  • As an International student, We lack guidance on how to perform well in our exams and match expectations for a better grade. For a one-year course, We do not get broad exposure to anything. null
  • Complicated grading system for PGT students. null
  • As it's our first in-person exam post-pandemic, they have not updated past papers. null

I chose the University of Glasgow, as other universities, I had applied to had offered me an alternate course and not my desired course. My overall experience at the university is average for finance.

I was motivated to move ahead in tech and learn more about the emerging field of Data Science. Since I had plans to study abroad from a very young age, I started looking for the top universities. After applying with my proposal to the top universities in the UK, I got selected in 2 of the most prestigious universities. Amongst them, I decided to go ahead with the University of Glasgow because of its excellent research output in my domain. The course contents were the latest and quite daunting. And the cherry on top was the amazing city of Glasgow in the heart of Scotland.

I joined this university as I was attracted to this University since my course is research-oriented and this particular University places well in the world ranking in terms of research. The modules were laid out well and practical laboratory courses are the highlight. Coming to the admissions process - it was very easy and all online. Any hassles mid-way will be taken care of by the Uni admin department.

  • The course material might be a little difficult to grade for students coming from an Indian background school. null

University of Glasgow rates very high on the world scale for the program which I was keen on and that was the only reason that drove me to choose UofG. My overall experience was very good- I met the nicest people and got to work on my favourite topics during my dissertation.

Dislikes:

  • I enrolled during the Covid time which didn't give me full exposure to the university facilities. There is no placement system, so I had to search for jobs own my own. There is a lot of competition in job, so it takes a lot of time to find the right job." .

Overall experience was really good and it is always worth studying at a top university.
