Course Curriculum

8

  • I would say prepare well before coming here. The level of study is between Moderate to High. It's a mix of both as I need to apply my programming skills to practical.

  • Positive aspects, it will introduce you to this world of programming and the coursework is pretty thourough but you have to catch up on everything in a year which is pretty much ocean to cover in one year.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to 4 Universities.
    University of Bristol - Admitted
    University of Glasgow - Admitted
Queen Mary University of London - Admitted
    Coventry University - Admitted

  • I got Confirmed admission from all 4 of them. I chose University of Glasgow as it aligned well with my aspiration and the coursework was something i was interested in doing.

I got no rejections from any University.

  • There were various factors. First one was about that ,it was in Scotland, England feel very rushed place to me. It is in Glasgow which is quite affordable compared to London or Bristol. The course structure for my masters course aligned better here.

  • Admission Process is pretty simple, I applied to the Uni with all the required documents like my English scores, degree certificate, SOP , LORs and my application.

  • The eligibility criteria varies according to the course you are applying for. You need to have your IELTS score if you are from India. I would recommend to have an overall score of 7 not less than 6 in any element to be eligible for the course. It would be great if you have a nice GPA in your Undergrad. It will boost your application. SOP and LORs also influence your application.

  • I waited for like 2 months to receive an admit and later on went to apply for scholarships. I would recommend to make an application as early as possible to have ur things ready before you travel.

  • I applied for September 2024 intake. The urge to pursue a masters abroad and the willingness to move into a tech field were among my factors. More courses intake is there in Autumn. The application process was there from November to June.

November - Applied for the Uni
    February - Got admit.
March - paid Deposit to secure a seat.
April - Applied for Education Loan.
    May- Applied for Visa
    June - Got Visa

Class Schedule

8

  • So , i have classes all 5 days , pretty much 3 hrs to 4 hrs classes daily or less. I have labs as well.

  • Average number of students in my class varied as the course modules can be similar to the modules from other course and on that basis the size changes but it is pretty much close to 150.

  • I would say a good amount comprising like 20% of the class but you will find a lot of students from china.

Faculty

8

  • I think the ratio is pretty good and to reach out we have various online platforms to raise questions in class anonymously ans the professor will answer them.

  • The teaching in classes are based on the coursework but yes they do bring the aspects of outer and the real world experiences. The assignments given to us are very practical.

  • I mean they don't really do that but if you are in need of the jobs, we have a dedicated team in university of glasgow which will help students to find jobs and there is career counselling , career fairs dedicated for the students.

  • I think , Teachers here are very thorough with their approach of teaching and the quality of education is pretty good here. the only thing that i lack in getting the accents. other than that i feel its worth it here

Campus Life

10

  • The life in University is very much happening .You will find a lot going on daily to daily basis.

  • Students are allowed to take up both on-campus and off-campus part-time jobs. On-campus jobs include Teaching Assistant- TA, Research Assistant- RA, Departmental Assistant-DA, library assistants, administrative staff, campus café assistants. TA/RA/DA pay scale is around £12-15/hour, while other jobs may pay £10-12/hour in campus jobs. Students can work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the term time in the UK.

  • On-campus jobs are competitive, with limited positions, and students need to be on the lookout for job postings, apply early, and sometimes attend interviews.

  • Most Indian students prefer off-campus jobs in retail, supermarkets, restaurants, or delivery services as these roles are relatively easier to find and offer similar pay (£10-12 per hour) depending on the job type and location. It normally starts with an online search via portals such as Indeed, followed by the submission of resumes and potential interviews.

  • They earn 12-13 pounds per hour. Part time job is first come first serve, You can apply and try your luck. You can upload your CV on various job portals or you can visit the shops or restaurant and ask if they have any job openings. Students can approach the Uni portal to apply for jobs. We have listings available there as wellI would recommend to look for full time job and work on your skills rather to look for part time.

Placement

10

  • The job purely depends on your skillset, how active u r in the community and how vigilant you are in applying for the positions. Average salary for my course job varies between 30k to 40k annually.
  • There are various Graduate roles for which no experience is required. You have to apply one year before , right after you starts your masters to be eligible for the roles next year.
  • You can reach out to various job portals and platforms available to apply for job , even you can attend various career fairs in Uni. I mean Finance and It Skills are top in the market, but i would say if you are a skilled person then you can secure a job easily.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I applied through university portal. The university has dedicated links with different spaces for accommodations.

  • The monthly rent for my is around £650. The room is personal and Kitchen and bathroom are shared with 5 people . The security is pretty tight. Noone can enter just like that in our accommodation. It's pretty safe and secure.

  • I just applied while in India before coming and i got offered a place. It was pretty easy to get student accommodation.

  • I would recommend to get university accommodation as it will be helpful to get to know the area and then later on u can look for a private stay. If you know someone who is already living here, then u can opt private accommodation.

  • My accommodation is like 15 mins walk from the uni. Indians have societies in Uni , u can connect with them. It's pretty much a personal preference but yeah i have most of my friends in university accommodations only.

Exams

  • IELTS was required for my English level proficiency.

  • Documents necessary to apply are -
English Language Score - You can give the test later also after getting conditional offer.
Your college Degree / Educational certificates- You can submit it later as well after getting ur degree/Results.
    Your SOP(Statement of Purpose)
Your LORs (Minimum 2 or 3 Letter of recommendations)
    Your Resume/CV

  • For me , i didnt get any Interview during my process but yes depending on case to case, they might ask for an interview which is very very rare.

Fees

  • The fees for my course is £31860. I got a scholarship for £5k for India Merit Award. The accommodation that i chose is separate from the Uni fees and it is £6k . These are based on the type of accommodation you choose.

  • So , you have options of paying it in one go or in 8 installments plan. I am paying it in 8 installments monthly plan. Dates are set by the university on portal.

  • If you exclude the accommodation fees , then i spend around 150-200 on my groceries and rest 150£ on other expenses. It basically depends on your lifestyle.

Scholarship

  • Yes there are various scholarships available. Application based and Merit based. I got £5k India Merit Award.
  • The max Scholarship you get is £10K. Other than scholarships provided by University there are various scholarships outside of the organisation and government scholarships.
  • Few of my friends are on Fully funded scholarships from their state government. Dont know the specifics of the number of students, but i would suggest you to apply as soon as possible. Chances are pretty high to get an scholarship if you apply early
