- Master of Science in Banking and Finance at Coventry University is a 1-year (3 Semester) program.
- It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
- The course aims to provide a solid grounding in the main components of commercial and investment banking and the changing structure of the international financial industry.
- The module of the program are:
- Economics of Money and Banking
- Quantitative Methods in Finance
- Corporate Finance
- International Banking
- Credit Risk Management
- International Financial Markets
- Banking Regulation and Governance
- Students will be provided with a variety of learning experiences, such as lectures, seminars, laboratory sessions, web-based learning, problem-solving, classes and tutorials, workshops, research design tutorials, dissertation supervision and guided and self-directed study.
- Within the first and second semester, students will have up to 12-13 contact hours of teaching a week which includes:
- Small group teaching, such as tutorials or project supervision each week
- Large group teaching, such as lectures each week
- A strong emphasis is placed on the project module in the final semester and therefore the total teaching contact hours may be reduced.
- This course currently benefits from accreditation by the Chartered Banker Institute (CBI) until April 2022, the UK’s largest professional body for bankers.
- This course is part of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute’s University Affiliation Program, recognizing that the course curriculum is closely tied to the practice of investment management and is helpful to students preparing for the CFA Program exams.
- In the final semester, students will also study a module developed in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), focused on consultancy, which can lead to a professional qualification upon successful completion.
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to opt-in to an accelerated route to Associate Chartered Banker and Chartered Banker status, subject to passing CBI modules.
