Anglia Ruskin University admissions are open to Indian applicants across September, January and May intakes. Undergraduate entry through UCAS asks Class XII at 60 percent or above, while postgraduate direct entry needs a three-year Bachelor’s at 50 percent or higher in a relevant subject.
- Primary intake September 2027: UCAS main deadline 13 January 2027; PG direct applications rolling.
- Base tuition £15,900 to £21,200 (INR 20.56 Lakhs to INR 27.41 Lakhs); UCAS UG fee £28.50 (INR 3,685); no PG application fee.
- UG: Class XII 60 percent plus IELTS 6.0; PG: Bachelor’s at 50 percent plus IELTS 6.5.
- Acceptance rate estimated at 50 to 60 percent for the 2026 to 2027 cycle.

Anglia Ruskin University Application Deadlines
ARU runs three intakes across the academic year, and dates for Indian applicants are anchored to CAS (Certificate of Acceptance for Studies) issuing cut-offs rather than a single close date, per the ARU international dates page. September is the primary intake because most programmes open here.
ARU’s primary intake for Indian students is September — most programmes open here.
| Intake | Level | App Opens | Deadline | App Fee | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| September 2026 (Closed) | UG and PG | — | 14 August 2026 India CAS (Closed) | — | — |
| January 2027 | UG and PG | Rolling | No fixed date; ARU accepts until seats fill | £28.50 UG (INR 3,685); no fee PG | UCAS for UG, ARU direct for PG |
| May 2027 | UG and PG | Rolling | No fixed date; ARU accepts until seats fill | £28.50 UG (INR 3,685); no fee PG | UCAS for UG, ARU direct for PG |
| September 2027 (Primary intake) | UG | 1 September 2026 | 13 January 2027, 18:00 UK time | £28.50 (INR 3,685) | UCAS |
| September 2027 (Primary intake) | PG | Rolling | India CAS follows the ~14 August 2027 pattern | No fee | ARU direct |
Two dates matter beyond the CAS window. The tuition full-payment discount of £1,000 (around INR 1.29 Lakhs) for the September 2026 intake had a Friday 18 September 2026 cut-off; teaching begins Monday 21 September 2026. ARU has not yet published fixed CAS deadlines for January 2027, May 2027 or September 2027, so treat the September 2026 pattern as the working template.
Planning note: The India CAS cut-off is not the application deadline. You must have an unconditional offer, paid the deposit and cleared English requirements well before that CAS date, so start the file 10 to 12 weeks earlier.
Anglia Ruskin University Eligibility for Indian Students
ARU’s entry criteria are set faculty-wide, with each course adding a subject prerequisite where it needs one. Indian applicants are assessed on Class XII scores for undergraduate entry and on Bachelor’s percentage for postgraduate entry. ARU treats a UK 2:2 classification as roughly equivalent to an Indian Bachelor’s at 50 to 59 percent, and a UK 2:1 as roughly 60 to 65 percent.
Academic Eligibility by Level
- UG general entry: Class XII from CBSE, ISC or a recognised state board at 60 percent overall, with 55 percent in each subject.
- UG STEM courses: Mathematics studied through Class XII for Computer Science, Engineering and Data related programmes.
- PG taught (MSc, MA): Three-year Bachelor’s at 50 percent in a relevant subject, or a four-year BE / BTech at 50 percent.
- PG competitive courses: MSc Computer Science and MSc Data Science look for a related discipline in the Bachelor’s; MSc Clinical Nursing needs an active nursing registration.
- MBA full-time: Bachelor’s at 55 percent plus one year of work experience; placement version needs two years and an interview.
English Language Minimums
| Test | UG Minimum | PG Minimum | Per-section Floor |
|---|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 overall | 6.5 overall | 5.5 each |
| TOEFL iBT | 80 overall | 88 overall | 18 to 20 per section |
| PTE Academic | 59 overall | 61 overall | 51 each |
| Duolingo English Test | 110 | 120 | Per component floors apply |
| LanguageCert / Cambridge / Oxford ELLT | Accepted | Accepted | Per component floors apply |
ARU IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
ARU accepts a medium of instruction (MOI) waiver where the Bachelor’s or Class XII was taught and examined in English at a recognised institution. Indian applicants from English-medium boards (CBSE, ICSE and most state boards) can request this waiver by submitting a signed MOI letter from the college registrar. The waiver is discretionary and not guaranteed for every programme; MSc Clinical Nursing, MBA and Law-linked courses often still ask for a formal IELTS or PTE score.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official ARU entry requirements page for your chosen program before applying.
Anglia Ruskin University PG Programs and English Scores
ARU’s postgraduate portfolio is Indian-heavy in Computing, Business and Health, and each course carries its own English floor within the institution-wide range. Base tuition for one taught year sits between £17,700 and £21,200 (around INR 22.89 Lakhs to INR 27.41 Lakhs) for the 2026-27 cycle; for the full course-wise fees breakdown, see the ARU programs page.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| MSc Artificial Intelligence | 1 year full-time | Bachelor’s at 50 percent in Computing, Mathematics or a related STEM subject | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc Computer Science | 1 year full-time | Three-year Bachelor’s or BE / BTech at 50 percent in Computing or a related subject | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc Cyber Security | 1 year full-time | Bachelor’s at 50 percent in Computing, Engineering or a numerate discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc Data Science | 1 year full-time | Bachelor’s at 50 percent with Mathematics or Statistics as a core subject | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc Clinical Nursing | 1 year full-time | Bachelor’s in Nursing with an active nursing registration | IELTS 6.5 with 7.0 in speaking and listening |
| MSc Marketing | 1 year full-time | Bachelor’s at 50 percent in any discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc International Business | 1 year full-time | Bachelor’s at 50 percent in Business, Economics or a related field | IELTS 6.5 |
| MSc Public Health | 1 year full-time | Bachelor’s at 50 percent in Health Sciences, Nursing or a related discipline | IELTS 6.5 |
Insider note: ARU does not publish separate "Ma" or "Distinction" pathway floors for its taught PG portfolio — a 50 percent Indian Bachelor’s is the working baseline, and a 60 percent Bachelor’s puts you comfortably in the scholarship-competitive band.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official ARU entry requirements page for your chosen program before applying.
Anglia Ruskin University Undergraduate Programs and Requirements
Undergraduate entry at ARU is routed through UCAS. Base tuition for 2026-27 ranges from £15,900 to £17,900 (around INR 20.56 Lakhs to INR 23.14 Lakhs) per year, with foundation-year entry available at lower thresholds through ARU College for applicants who do not meet direct Class XII cut-offs.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| BSc (Hons) Computer Science | 3 years full-time | Class XII at 60 percent with Mathematics | IELTS 6.0 |
| BEng (Hons) Software Engineering | 3 years full-time | Class XII at 60 percent with Mathematics and a science subject | IELTS 6.0 |
| BA (Hons) Business Management | 3 years full-time | Class XII at 60 percent in any stream | IELTS 6.0 |
| BSc (Hons) Cyber Security | 3 years full-time | Class XII at 60 percent with Mathematics | IELTS 6.0 |
| BSc (Hons) Nursing | 3 years full-time | Class XII at 65 percent with Biology; interview and health checks | IELTS 7.0 with 7.0 each |
Anglia Ruskin University MBA Admissions
The ARU MBA is delivered from Cambridge, Chelmsford and London campuses. Base tuition for 2026-27 is £21,200 (around INR 27.41 Lakhs) for the full-time route, with the placement variant priced the same but stretching the calendar to accommodate the industry year.
MBA Variants and Work Experience Floors
- Full-time MBA: Bachelor’s at 55 percent plus one year of full-time work experience; no GMAT required.
- MBA with placement: Bachelor’s at 55 percent plus two years of relevant work experience and a successful interview.
- Interview format: Placement route interviews are held online for Indian applicants and cover motivation, career objectives and industry alignment.
MBA Intakes and Dates
The MBA runs in September, January and May intakes; ARU does not release fixed application rounds — files are reviewed as they arrive. Send a complete application, including CV and work-experience letters, at least 10 to 12 weeks before the intake start date to protect visa timelines.
Insider note: The MBA English floor sits at IELTS 6.5, but the interview panel weights communication heavily — placement candidates with borderline speaking scores are often deferred rather than rejected.
Anglia Ruskin University PhD Admissions
PhD admission at ARU runs year-round through direct application to a Faculty. Candidates first identify a supervisor whose research aligns with their proposal, then submit through the postgraduate research portal.
PhD Entry Requirements
- Academic: A UK Master’s at Merit or an Indian Master’s at 55 to 60 percent, in a subject relevant to the proposed research.
- English: IELTS 6.5 overall with 5.5 in each component; higher floors apply for Nursing and Education research.
- Proposal: A 1,500 to 2,500 word research proposal, referenced and aligned to an ARU research group.
PhD Funding at ARU
ARU funds a small number of studentships each year, typically covering fees and a UKRI-aligned stipend for the 2026-27 academic year; Indian candidates compete on the same basis as UK applicants. Most self-funded candidates pay international fees between £17,700 and £19,500 (around INR 22.89 Lakhs to INR 25.21 Lakhs) per year.
Anglia Ruskin University Application Process
The workflow differs for UG and PG, but both routes end with the same CAS-and-visa sequence. Keep scans of documents in a single folder before you start; missing paperwork is the most common cause of an offer downgrade.
- Start on the correct portal. Undergraduate applicants register on UCAS (the 2027 entry cycle opened 1 September 2026); postgraduates apply directly through the ARU international portal.
- Pay the application fee. The UCAS application fee of £28.50 (around INR 3,685) covers up to five undergraduate choices; postgraduate direct applications carry no application fee.
- Upload core documents. Transcripts, degree certificate or provisional letter, English test scorecard or MOI letter, passport data page, personal statement and one to two references.
- Receive a decision. Most PG decisions land within 2 to 4 weeks; UG offers follow UCAS timelines.
- Accept and pay the deposit. A tuition deposit (usually around £4,000, INR 5.17 Lakhs) confirms your seat and triggers CAS issuance.
- Sit the ATAS check where applicable. Some MSc courses in engineering and sciences need Academic Technology Approval Scheme clearance before CAS.
- Apply for the Student Route visa. Submit the online form, pay the visa fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge, and give biometrics at a VFS centre.
ARU Admission Decisions and Offer Timeline
ARU issues offers on a rolling basis, so speed to complete file matters as much as absolute academic strength. Understand the offer types before you accept, because a conditional offer with a pending IELTS or transcript can delay CAS by weeks.
- Decision window: 2 to 4 weeks for most PG applications once documents are complete; UG offers follow UCAS Track deadlines.
- Offer types: Unconditional (all conditions met), conditional (pending English or final transcript), or reject with feedback.
- Acceptance: Sign and return the offer letter within the window stated in the email; usually 4 weeks.
- Deposit: Pay the tuition deposit to convert a conditional offer into a CAS.
- Deferral: ARU allows a one-intake deferral (September to January, for example) without a fresh application, subject to programme availability.
Documents Required for Anglia Ruskin University Applications
ARU standardises the document set across intakes. Gather notarised or certified copies where the source is Indian, since UKVI expects English-language paperwork for visa purposes.
- Passport data page: Valid for the full duration of the course.
- Academic transcripts: Class X, Class XII and every Bachelor’s or Master’s semester marksheet.
- Degree certificate: Or provisional certificate if the final degree is pending.
- English test scorecard: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Duolingo or LanguageCert (or a signed MOI letter where the waiver applies).
- Personal statement or SOP: 500 to 700 words on motivation, fit with ARU and post-study intent.
- Letters of recommendation: One academic reference is required; a second academic or employer reference strengthens PG files.
- CV: Mandatory for MBA and PhD; strongly recommended for all PG programmes.
- Work-experience letters: On company letterhead, with role, dates and reporting line, for MBA candidates.
- Passport-size photographs: Recent, plain background.
- Financial proof for CAS: Bank statements showing tuition-plus-maintenance funds held for 28 consecutive days.
Anglia Ruskin University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
ARU does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place the figure at 50 to 60 percent, based on the university’s access-oriented profile — meaning it admits most applicants who meet its published entry thresholds — and its stated support for international applicants who clear standard cut-offs. Applicants who miss the direct entry bar are often routed through ARU College’s foundation and pre-master’s pathways rather than rejected outright.
What Drives Acceptance for Indian Applicants
- Academic fit: A relevant Bachelor’s is decisive for MSc Computer Science, MSc AI and MSc Data Science.
- English readiness: Meeting the section-wise 5.5 floor is the most common rejection trigger.
- File completeness: Missing transcripts or unsigned MOI letters push files into a longer queue.
How ARU Compares Within Its Ranking Band
ARU sits in the QS 501 to 550 world ranking band and holds the THE University of the Year 2023 title, which places it in the competitive-but-accessible tier for Indian STEM and Business applicants.
Insider note: A borderline profile is often saved by a strong SOP that maps the applicant’s Indian Bachelor’s syllabus to the ARU module list — assessors read for fit, not just percentage.
UK Student Visa Process for Anglia Ruskin University Applicants
Indian applicants apply for the UK Student Route visa (formerly Tier 4) after receiving the CAS from ARU. You need the CAS number, proof of tuition deposit, financial evidence showing living costs for up to nine months and a valid TB test certificate from a UKVI-approved clinic. Applications are filed online at gov.uk, biometrics are given at VFS Global centres in India, and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is paid at the same time as the visa fee. See student reviews from Indian applicants for typical processing timelines.
Financial evidence must sit in the applicant’s or a parent’s account for 28 consecutive days, with the closing balance dated within 31 days of the visa application. Most Indian applicants receive a decision within 15 working days; a priority service is available at an extra fee. Post-arrival, you register with the local police only if your Biometric Residence Permit endorsement requires it, and open a UK bank account using the ARU letter as address proof.
2026 update: The UK Graduate Route remains open for ARU students starting in 2026-27, giving two years of post-study work (three for PhD graduates), so time the visa application to arrive on campus before your programme’s induction week.
Tips and Checklist for Anglia Ruskin University Admissions
The following tips and steps are drawn from what tends to move an ARU file forward for Indian applicants without extending timelines.
- Anchor the plan to the CAS date, not the intake start. Work backwards from 14 August (September intake pattern) to sequence deposit, offer acceptance and visa filing.
- File the MOI letter early. ARU accepts an MOI waiver for CBSE, ICSE and most state boards, but the letter must be signed by the college registrar on official letterhead.
- Request transcripts eight weeks before the deadline. Indian universities can take four to six weeks to release certified copies.
- Book IELTS before you apply. A booked test date lets ARU issue a conditional offer instead of holding the file.
- Pay the £1,000 (INR 1.29 Lakhs) full-tuition discount only if funds are in hand by mid-September; do not stretch the maintenance balance.
- Send scanned work-experience letters upfront for the MBA. Missing letters are the most common cause of an interview delay for the placement route.
- Confirm ATAS need before CAS. Some Engineering MSc programmes need Academic Technology Approval Scheme clearance, which can add three to four weeks.
- Keep two IELTS score copies: ARU accepts scanned scores; UKVI needs the TRF number for the visa file.
ARU admissions reward preparation over volume. Indian applicants who clear the 50 percent Bachelor’s floor, hold IELTS 6.5 in hand and file 10 to 12 weeks before the CAS cut-off consistently convert offers into visas without last-minute pressure, across Computer Science, Business and Nursing tracks.

Overview
Location was a key factor. I wanted to study in Cambridge because there are a large number of students from all over the world in Cambridge. The diverse environment, along with extremely professional University staff helped allowed me to have the best possible university life for the past three years.
Scholarship
I got a scholarship of £2000. It was a general scholarship awarded to some candidates with deserving SoPs.
Overview
It was one of those closer to home but still with a good reputation and offering the course I wanted. The entry requirements also fit my A level results and the people at the open day seemed nice. The course was selected through clearing.
