- The Cancer Sciences MRes is a one year, full-time program introduced to offer postgraduate training to suitably qualified science students who are interested in research careers in cancer. It is a stand-alone program that would be of particular interest to students who wish to apply for further training at the Ph.D. level.
- Designed to offer life and biomedical science graduates the opportunity to gain research training through practical experience in a leading cancer research center.
- The program consists of three taught modules and an extensive project within cancer research groups in the College of Medical and Dental Sciences. The lecture modules will be taught by leading cancer experts and will cover such topics as the cellular and molecular basis of cancer, how genomic analysis is applied to translational research for diagnosis and treatment of cancers and how recent advances in our understanding of cancer immunology immunotherapy can be used in immunotherapy.
- The projects will generally be laboratory-based and will provide skills in designing and implementing research strategies to answer fundamental questions relating to cancer causes, diagnosis, and/or treatment.
- The skills and experience gained will be of particular benefit when applying to Ph.D. programs in cancer studies and related cell and molecular biology subjects.

Sample work: If students are required to submit a piece of example work usually a short written piece (common for programmes such as Creative Writing or English Literature); music composition or performance for those looking to study music-related programmes they will be notified by the academic tutor before they can access and make a decision on their application.
